I have to work on Christmas Eve until 3pm.
I cannot find another roll of my favourite wrapping paper.
I don't know what I want for me under the Christmas tree.

What are your first world Christmas problems?

@Gufo

Is everyone who eats turkey an abomination, or just those who provide the service? 🤔
My thoughts too.

I've forgotten to get a money wallet thing so will end up sticking the money in the card.
I'm not sure whether to give the person a tenner or a twenty-pound note either.
They don't even deserve a bloody penny to be honest.

OhGiveUp · 12/12/2021 12:55

I couldn't find the sellotape, so I've bought another roll.....and I can't find that either! Is someone sneaking in and eating it or something??
Now the presents and gift wrap are looking at me in a state of confuddlement.

Pheebs2021 · 12/12/2021 15:58

@fawnDrench if they don't deserve a penny give them the £10 and yourself extra Christmas nibbles.

In an idle conversation a few months ago I was joking with someone about an expensive item following me around the internet because I'd looked at it so I get the ad for it everywhere.

I bought that person a present which I've already sent & I've found out they bought me the expensive item - I was not hinting to be given it or even thinking about Christmas last summer.

I now realise that the present I have got for them cost less than 10% of the cost of the present they are giving me (I shouldn't know what it is yet but I do).

It's far more than they would normally spend on me so have no idea why this is happening this year.

If I buy them something else, they would know I'd found out but I feel bad at the ridiculous price difference between our gifts.

First world problem, but I don't know what to do.

I think your friend has just decided you are extra special and deserve an extra spoil this year

My dh has to work Christmas day, the dc are sad about this, as am I.

Cherryrainbow · 12/12/2021 21:11

My other half announced he's not going to wrap my presents and just give them to me as they are on xmas day, even though other times he's done this he has moaned that I seem underwhelmed.

I've got a good one courtesy of tonight's festive disaster!

Bought a tree yesterday. A beautiful big tree. Put it up this evening, got all the 500 lights on and arranged, all the decorations. Took a picture of it looking beautiful....

Then it fell over 😭😭😭 7 foot tree laying on my living room floor. Decorations smashed, lights everywhere. Water from the base soaked the carpet.

Put it all up again (twice!) And it fell over again.

So now a friend is going to have this one but saw it off to make it smaller/lighter and able to stay up and I have to go and buy another tree.

I have actually cried tonight.

KurtWildesChristmasNamechange · 12/12/2021 22:33

@Largethighsbadeyes that was me last year. I persevered but it was so disheartening. I ended up having to saw a foot off the bottom to get it even enough to stay up. I lost many of my special memory baubles to that tree last year. And it gave my DS horrible allergies. It did look stunning though when it was first decorated. After the 3rd topple it looked a bit sad!

Largethighsbadeyes · 12/12/2021 22:36

I'm quite relived that it's not just me this has happened to to be honest! Sorry about your baubles though.

Off to get a different one tomorrow.

I feel so bad because I cried in front of my child and when they grow up they will be on mumsnet saying "I remember the Christmas my mum cried because the tree fell over. I hate Christmas now" 😭😅

If it's any consolation I cried in front of mine too so if yours makes a thread about it in the future mine will have the same story!

@BashfulClam

Some presents i bought are out for delivery with Hermes. I’m in a long queue at a vaccination centre for my booster. Any guesses where they’ll sling my parcels?
The other day they put my parcel in my empty cardboard recycling box on the pavement. According to their email it was put in my porch - I don't have a porch!!
mumsiedarlingrevolta · 13/12/2021 14:19

I can't find little candy canes anywhere to use as garnish when I make "peppermintini's"

tinofbeans · 13/12/2021 16:28

I have covid and can't get together enough energy to finish icing the christmas cake I've made for an elderly relative :-(

desperatehousewife21 · 14/12/2021 10:21

I’ve left things too late and now am panicking, I still have a ton of presents to buy and have run out of money until Friday when DH gets paid. Going to do an Asda and B&M haul plus Amazon prime to try and get it all finished.

Am also waiting on 5 presents to be delivered and praying they get here on time.
I’ve also bought barely any Xmas food, and I’m hosting Xmas day Xmas Blush

New Years resolution: try and put money away every month and start buying Xmas presents from sept!
