We stayed up watching Sherlock and now I'm wide awake. I'm unimpressed! 😂

At least we finally made it to thread 2...I doubt we will do as many this year!

Hopefully, we'll all have better things to do!

My phone does 'On this day...' and shows photos from previous years, and this time last year we were at the Science Museum in Leicester!

DH was already panicking about a new virus from China and I thought he was being daft about something that was just the new SARS and wouldn't even affect us...

NoWordForFluffy · 18/02/2021 06:06

I was concerned at / after half term with all the skiers coming back from Italy and the government not trying to contain any virus they may have brought back with them. And so it began!

Thanks fluffy. I am eagerly awaiting 7pm when I can order the new caterpillar cross stitch subscription box!

Themostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 18/02/2021 06:55

Oh and one year ago today I took DS to the theatre and then out for lunch. What I would give to be able to do that today.

WreckTangled · 18/02/2021 08:17

I don't have any memories from a year ago.

I need to get my prescription today and have told the dc I'll treat them to lunch at my favourite deli as we haven't done anything all half term. They do the best soup. Ds wants a prawn wrap and dd can't decide but definitely wants a baguette. I'll have soup

Themostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 18/02/2021 08:41

How crazy is it that getting a prescription is now an exciting trip out wreck Grin

WreckTangled · 18/02/2021 08:45

It would be more exciting if the pharmacy wasn't staffed with people who have an IQ of 2 Grin and move as fast as the sloth in Zootropolis

NoWordForFluffy · 18/02/2021 09:11

My memory today was eating out at Pizza Express! 😭😭😭

Our two most local ones have closed now, so we have to go to Preston or Liverpool. So we won't go as much, I'd think.

OP posts:
Themostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 18/02/2021 09:18

Ah but that just lengthens your day out wreck and makes it even more amazing GrinSad

TheWoollybacksWife · 18/02/2021 09:43

I have no record of memories from this time last year unless you count the photo of the bottle of wine that we liked! I do know I was getting excited about going to a Woolly Hugs meet up on leap day. Little did I know that it would be the last time I travelled out of my county for a whole year (and longer...)

Your lunch out sounds lovely Wreck. Enjoy the pharmacy 😂

Firefly is the science museum in Leicester the one with all the space rockets? We took ours there a few years ago now and it was a fantastic day out. Leicestershire tourist board used to do a two day ticket that got you into loads of local attractions for a fixed price. I think you could upgrade it and it covered a one night hotel stay but we never used it. I'm hoping that they do something similar to boost tourism when it's safe to do so. The Richard III museum and tomb could be added - that's a good day out if you're a history buff. We found it fascinating - DD1 studied archaeology as part of her degree in Leicester and was taught by some of the team responsible for the excavation.

I think Crazy needs to get cracking on the photos to fill the last thread up.

FireflyGirl · 18/02/2021 09:56

It is, Woolly.

I only discovered it by accident - I had a conference in Leicester in January, and saw the signs. Once you buy your ticket, you can go back for free over the next year. We didn't get much use out of that, or our York Museums membership!

We did an overnight stay the night before, just to make it more of an adventure.

DMIL is getting her covid vaccination tomorrow! Which means I'll get to see my parents in time for DDad's birthday, and we might even be able to have them round for a celebration on DS's birthday the week after! Woohoo!

NoWordForFluffy · 18/02/2021 10:03

Is that right about the year entry, Firefly? That's ace. DS is obsessed with space and we need to go! As it's near my parents we can combine the two.

I like the idea of that ticket, Woolly. Sounds really good!

A year ago today I went to Harvester for tea and a catch up with 2 friends I haven't been able to see since 😞
I'm remember starting to see the news and think what a big drama it seemed to be for a bug doing the rounds...

None of my family or friends will be getting the vaccination any time soon. SIL has had hers as she's a technically frontline even though she works in an office as a manager and doesn't come into contact with the general public
I'm hoping teachers are prioritised at some point as DH is going back to school 2 days each week starting next week.

I've filled the last thread with random Christmas pics (including some I liked do much I'm posting them here too)

I love the Countdown to Christmas cross stitch Crazy and I'm also trying to find the pattern for the crocodile stitch tea cosy. That would be great to make for the Woolly Hugs Christmas sale.

WreckTangled · 18/02/2021 10:23

Love the Christmas tree one Grin my mum and step dad have been vaccinated and all my grandparents. My dad and step mum are group 8 and IL's 7.

NoWordForFluffy · 18/02/2021 11:26

My dad was being done this Tuesday just gone. I don't know about mum though. My FiL has also been done.

I think it would been prudent to vaccinate teachers, but what do I know?!

Morning everyone. Blustery day today and so dark. Doggie has a bloody paw think he must have got it from dashing around the house like a maniac! Just finished off a course for work thankfully.

Thanks for the pics Crazy Hope teachers are prioritised soon too as daughter is in every day. Love the CS.

TheWoollybacksWife · 18/02/2021 12:05

I'm 100% behind that thought Fluffy but it doesn't look likely yet.

I'm obsessively checking the omnicalculator to see when my vax might happen. I'm group 9 and DH is group 8 and it's showing early to mid April for him and mid to late April for me. I'm optimistic that we'll be done earlier than that, though - possibly even by Easter.

PussyCatInChristmasStockings · 18/02/2021 12:57

Hmm, 18th Feb last year...

Ah-ha! A most exciting day, we went to Sainsburys and the recycling bin was emptied.

Livin' the Dream 🤪🤯

FireflyGirl · 18/02/2021 16:23

Don’t forget, you can upgrade to a FREE Annual Pass when you buy your ticket

From their webpage, Fluffy.

It's £3 to park, and the car park fills up quickly and there was a queue for the pay and display machines.

FireflyGirl · 18/02/2021 16:29

Boots, living the high life there Wink

NoWordForFluffy · 18/02/2021 16:46

It looks like it's been closed for ages as Leicester has barely been out of lockdown for a year. Hopefully it'll be able to open again soon.

Howmanysleepsnow · 18/02/2021 16:52

Can I join? I so desperately need something to look forward to that we’ve scheduled an extra Christmas for 28th February! Presents are bought (2 each plus a chocolate snowman), decorations will go up at the weekend, DH is doing the dinner.

TheWoollybacksWife · 18/02/2021 17:37

Welcome Howmany. True devotion to the Christmas cause having a second one 🎄

FireflyGirl · 18/02/2021 18:20

Sounds lovely, Howmany. Dedication to the cause!

Fluffy we were there about 3 hours and only did the first bit. DS loved it, but wasn't quite 5, so that was enough for him.
