Thanks @raindropsonrosesand for the title

I just accidentally set up the thread in the wrong talk board 🤦🏻‍♀️!

Think this will be the thread with Christmas Day on it. I hope all of you have wonderful christmases (well, as wonderful as possible atm) and everyone enjoys all the bargains and you’ve saved money. We’ve been quite careful this year and I’ve definitely saved even more money than usual!

Keep an eye on the sales, I’m assuming the actual shops, given many are closed in the SE atm, will have pretty mega discounts to shift stock once they’re reopened.

You’ve all kept me sane in a slightly insane world this year, here’s to next year Brew Wine Thanks

please post any bargain info IN BOLD to make it easier to scroll through the thread.

To make things bold you:
Put a star each side of what you want to make bold like this but without the space between the star and the writing *

Just a reminder you can watch the thread by clicking on ‘watch this thread’ at the top of the first message. It’s much easier for everyone than so many place marking every time which can use up a fair chunk of each thread to scroll through Thanks

Here’s Barbarara’s instructions from last year on doing clicky links:

Open double square brackets
No space
Paste link
Space
Name of link
No space
Close double square brackets

Like this
[[www.amazingbargains.com bargain ]] but with no space after/before the brackets.
If I do it again without the extra spaces only the word bargain will appear in blue

For more links etc see message 2

If any link doesn’t work or you want to add something please let me know by @ing me Thanks

sorryiasked · 22/12/2020 11:46

@Haveyoubrushedyourteeth depends if she likes doing experiment type things. It teaches you about circuits. We had "snap circuits" which are the same thing just a different make.

Haveyoubrushedyourteeth · 22/12/2020 11:50

@margaritasbythesea yes that's the one. That's really helpful thankyou. Do you mind me asking what age yours are?

I was so well organised this year that I should have known someone would spring something on me last minute.

Haveyoubrushedyourteeth · 22/12/2020 11:58

I'm going against the whole spirit of Christmas I know, but if it's going to be a "mummy can you help me/I can't do it" every 30 seconds then I might just get her it with her Christmas money and save it for a day where I'm not going to be up to my eyeballs in Turkey.

Daddy could of course do it, but idiot mummy has bought him an enormous technical Lego set so I'm fully expecting him to regress back to being ten Hmm

SilkieAndMoonface · 22/12/2020 12:29

Can anyone help me with my Dad's present for his birthday in early January please?

I want to make up a hamper of sweet treats from other countries. I am going to put an order in with the Japan Centre, and was hoping to do a Scandi Kitchen order too but they're not accepting online orders now until January so wouldn't be here in time. Can anyone recommend anywhere similar? Can be any country. Bargainous would be a lovely bonus.

margaritasbythesea · 22/12/2020 13:00

Haveyoubrushedyourteeth My son was 9 did need a bit of help getting going mainly because there are lots of bits that look similar.

Some supermarkets have sections of international food. Our local Morrison’s does American sweets and snacks as does Poundland. Ikea for Swedish bits. Home bargains and Lidl do things like baclawa and Dutch biscuits at this time of year. They are all physicals shops though, not sure if you need online.
Haveyoubrushedyourteeth · 22/12/2020 13:26

@margaritasbythesea my Dd is the same age so I've thought sod it and ordered it. The turkey will just have to wait, I've said "hang on a minute I'm just busy" far too many times this year, so Ive decided over Christmas that phrase is banned...although I may need gin to help me with this Grin

CompleteBarstool · 22/12/2020 13:37

@SilkieAndMoonface some delis and big garden centres with food sections might have some bits and pieces.

B&M and Home Bargains usually have American sweets

tentative3 · 22/12/2020 13:54

@SilkieAndMoonface GB Gifts has lots of stuff, plenty from the US/Australia but also Russia, Dubai, Canada, Germany amongst others (although not massive ranges from those countries, just odds and sods).

SilkieAndMoonface · 22/12/2020 13:58

@CeeceeBloomingdale and @CompleteBarstool
Thank you both for the suggestions. I really would prefer online. We're isolating in advance of seeing my parents at Christmas. I might be able to go out after Christmas but I would prefer to have it sorted before then (and really don't want to brave the shops in the busy times!).

gaggiagirl · 22/12/2020 13:58

A66QZ6D753ZL gets you £11 off a £110 spend at Argos it's probably a single use code.

SilkieAndMoonface · 22/12/2020 14:05

Crosspost. Thank you @tentative3, I'll have a look.
Any other suggestions still very welcome.

namechange818 · 22/12/2020 16:38

Anyone know of any discounts for monsoon of more than 15%??

MrsJammyDodger · 22/12/2020 17:42

Anyone seen anywhere with the hotel chocolate velvetiser? Not needed for Christmas but end of dec birthday can’t find anywhere

Christmascaker · 22/12/2020 18:39

Evening all, another January birthday request. Has anyone seen a good deal on iPhone SE anywhere?

sorryiasked · 22/12/2020 18:47

@MrsJammyDodger there's a refurbed one on Ebay or a v expensive new one

Thread 27 - Would appreciate any other ideas for ninja-move dolls
XmasLockdown · 22/12/2020 19:00

@Christmascaker I was after one and the only offer apart from the eBay was £20 off at Very on Black Friday. You can find good offers on refurbished ones on eBay.

Thedarknightsaredrawingin · 22/12/2020 19:08

To whoever was looking for sugar mice on the last thread John Lewis have lots reduced to £2.25 a pack today in Glasgow so perhaps nationwide.

SpamIAm · 22/12/2020 19:27

@Christmascaker might be worth looking to see what new customer deals Very have got? I managed to get £50 off and iPhone with one - that offer has expired now but there's always something I think.

EventOfTheSeason · 22/12/2020 19:57

I just twitched. Again. I was just having a look over the santa letter and looking at her wee face sleeping Blush

ZillCat · 22/12/2020 20:17

Just wanted to pop by and wish everyone a Merry Christmas before I forget.

Thank you for all the tips, codes and bargains. Think this has been my most organised Christmas ever.

Due to restrictions we are having our family Christmas Day on Christmas Eve so we can go and spend the day with DGran so she isn't on her own.
She usually spends it with DM but they are too far away can't make the trip in one day.

I hope you all have a happy and healthy Christmas and here's to a safe new year WineXmas Smile
