Thanks @raindropsonrosesand for the title

I just accidentally set up the thread in the wrong talk board 🤦🏻‍♀️!

Think this will be the thread with Christmas Day on it. I hope all of you have wonderful christmases (well, as wonderful as possible atm) and everyone enjoys all the bargains and you’ve saved money. We’ve been quite careful this year and I’ve definitely saved even more money than usual!

Keep an eye on the sales, I’m assuming the actual shops, given many are closed in the SE atm, will have pretty mega discounts to shift stock once they’re reopened.

You’ve all kept me sane in a slightly insane world this year, here’s to next year Brew Wine Thanks

please post any bargain info IN BOLD to make it easier to scroll through the thread.

To make things bold you:
Put a star each side of what you want to make bold like this but without the space between the star and the writing *

Just a reminder you can watch the thread by clicking on ‘watch this thread’ at the top of the first message. It’s much easier for everyone than so many place marking every time which can use up a fair chunk of each thread to scroll through Thanks

Here’s Barbarara’s instructions from last year on doing clicky links:

Open double square brackets

Name of link
No space
Close double square brackets

Like this
[[www.amazingbargains.com bargain ]] but with no space after/before the brackets.
If I do it again without the extra spaces only the word bargain will appear in blue

For more links etc see message 2

If any link doesn’t work or you want to add something please let me know by @ing me Thanks

Welcome to the world Holly.

The main reason i stay on mumsnet is for these threads. I love not only the bargains but the inspiration i get for gifts.

Someaddedsugar · 21/12/2020 07:48

Congrats @icedaisy - gorgeous name.

And a huge thank you for the threads @YuleAreBeingUnREASTIEable - they've brought a bit of normality and fun to a pretty awful year!

yafilthyanimalandahappynewyear · 21/12/2020 08:15

Congratulations @icedaisy! It's my birthday today and can confirm that it's a great time to have a birthday, especially when I was a child as it broke up the hyper exciting wait for Christmas Day. Lovely name too!
Thanks for the new thread @Reastie!

SpamIAm · 21/12/2020 08:20

Aww congratulations @icedaisy ! My December baby would have been a Holly if he hadn't come out a Thomas. Hope you're enjoying newborn snuggles and getting at least a bit of rest.

icedaisy · 21/12/2020 08:25

Thanks everyone. She is beautiful. Section Friday but home yesterday due to covid. We have Dd 2 who took fifteen years to arrive so holly is a second miracle albeit shocking timing in a pandemic.

I sat with midwifes on Saturday night watching news and cried with them. Was very poignant.

I'm sat on couch snuggling number one currently who is a little miffed.

Very glad to be finished and wrapped thanks to you all.

PinkDaydreams · 21/12/2020 08:30

@icedaisy a very special congratulations to you and you family! Enjoy the snuggles, I say this whilst my wild toddler is jumping on me!

PinkDaydreams · 21/12/2020 08:35

Thank you so much everyone for the bargains! I've been picking up bits throughout the year and this thread has helped so much.
Went through toddlers presents last night and split between Xmas and birthday. I've spent more on Xmas, does everyone else spend more for Xmas? I think it's because he has a stocking too so that bumps it up.

My only regrets are cancelling the order for the £5 Melissa and Doug puppets (wasn't into puppets at the time but loves them now!), being busy the morning of the superdrug £5 perfume (I wanted a bottle of ma vie for myself!) and not realising that I wanted a leapfrog leapstart 3d when it went on offer on black Friday but now sold out everywhere or double the price.

Thanks again everyone!

Berrys245 · 21/12/2020 08:40

Did @Raindropsonrosesand get any more ninja doll suggestions? 😆
The made to move Barbies are the best ones for articulation and being able to be put in various poses. For something smaller the capsule chix dolls are strange looking, but again have lots of joints that can be posed. These are reduced everywhere at the moment. I’ve never seen a large sized (our generation etc) doll that can bend knead and arms but I have seen gymnastics equipment for them! I am a ‘ninja doll’ expert as I have a 7 yr old who gets so frustrated by dolls who can’t bend their knees and sit down properly! 😂

CeeceeBloomingdale · 21/12/2020 08:45

@PinkDaydreams We always spend way more on Christmas. Christmas was/is a huge deal here in the north east, birthdays are nice but nowhere near the scale of Christmas

ShandlersWig · 21/12/2020 08:47

@icedaisy Congratulations! Beautiful name and a fitting announcement as the thread draws to a close.
This thread has given me great inspiration and bargains. It's moved so fast I missed an entire thread this year which usually never happens!
Thank you @YuleAreBeingUnREASTIEable for organising.
No matter what type of xmas everyone gets, I hope you can all find some peace and joy Xmas Smile

SpamIAm · 21/12/2020 08:56

We spend more on Christmas. My parents always went all out at Christmas with just a small gift on birthdays so I do much the same.

ArnoldJRimmer · 21/12/2020 08:58

My dd has this Wonder Woman doll which is ninja style. Although she's taller than barbie so it means she hovers over the barbie toilet rather than actually sit on it Grin

Congratulations on baby Holly Thanks

And huge thanks to Reastie and everyone else for keeping the Christmas spirit alive, everyone is so helpful and friendly on these threads and I think it was needed this year more than ever Thanks

Daisy829 · 21/12/2020 09:29

Yes thank you to everyone for the help and inspiration with presents. It’s a really lovely community to be part of. Merry Christmas everyone. Hope you all have a fabulous time & you and your families stay safe x
Can’t wait for next years thread!

I've lurked a lot this year but this news is lovely. Congratulations! Beautiful name too.

The news has impacted so many I'm not in tier 4 but feel so bad for friends and family who are (have sent some presents to those members more than I would normally)

Lellyo · 21/12/2020 10:06

Congratulations and welcome baby Holly. Xx

Lellyo · 21/12/2020 10:11

I would also like to add my thanks to each and everyone of you. This is my first year on this thread and I’ve loved every minute of it, I’ve picked up some fabulous bargains and inspiration, so thank you all. Could i just ask, does it close once Christmas comes? If so when does it start back up again?

TiersOfAClownAKABoris · 21/12/2020 10:27

How lovely to hear that news @icedaisy Congratulations to you (and Holly's big sister!) Holly is a gorgeous name.

Also wanted to say a big thank you to everyone who has contributed to the threads and especially @YuleAreBeingUnREASTIEable for (I want to say "curating", go on let me Grin) these threads.

I haven't bought as much this year due to financial woes (like lots of us I am sure). Although I have spent a lot less than normal it doesn't "look" like it due to the bargain prices eg Lisa Angel stuff so it's made me feel less bad Smile

caffeineanddryshampoo · 21/12/2020 10:34

Congratulations on the arrival of Holly _

Luxplus · 21/12/2020 10:55

I don't suppose anyone knows of somewhere I can buy Fazer chocolate in the UK? Ideally at rock bottom prices, either the chocolate bars, Mints or Mariannes, I've found them on Amazon but they're crazy money. Thanks.
Have you tried scandi kitchen? www.scandikitchen.co.uk/woocommerce-search/keyword/Fazer/search-in/product/cat-in/all/search-other/product,p_sku,p_cat,post,page

Dreamingofwalden · 21/12/2020 11:07

@icedaisy congratulations!! Enjoy all those snuggles. I really love festive names.

@YuleAreBeingUnREASTIEable thank you so much for the thread. We are now in Tier 4 but I have everything I need - except a few bits of food - and can enjoy Christmas with my immediate family.

As a thread everyone has helped me find lovely presents for Australia, sort postage for this country not to mention all this years hits such as the puppets. Now, I’m off to bake cinnamon buns. Xmas Smile

margaritasbythesea · 21/12/2020 11:45
