Thanks @raindropsonrosesand for the title

I just accidentally set up the thread in the wrong talk board 🤦🏻‍♀️!

Think this will be the thread with Christmas Day on it. I hope all of you have wonderful christmases (well, as wonderful as possible atm) and everyone enjoys all the bargains and you’ve saved money. We’ve been quite careful this year and I’ve definitely saved even more money than usual!

Keep an eye on the sales, I’m assuming the actual shops, given many are closed in the SE atm, will have pretty mega discounts to shift stock once they’re reopened.

You’ve all kept me sane in a slightly insane world this year, here’s to next year Brew Wine Thanks

please post any bargain info IN BOLD to make it easier to scroll through the thread.

To make things bold you:
Put a star each side of what you want to make bold like this but without the space between the star and the writing *

Just a reminder you can watch the thread by clicking on ‘watch this thread’ at the top of the first message. It’s much easier for everyone than so many place marking every time which can use up a fair chunk of each thread to scroll through Thanks

Here’s Barbarara’s instructions from last year on doing clicky links:

Open double square brackets
No space
Paste link
Space
Name of link
No space
Close double square brackets

Like this
[[www.amazingbargains.com bargain ]] but with no space after/before the brackets.
If I do it again without the extra spaces only the word bargain will appear in blue

For more links etc see message 2

If any link doesn’t work or you want to add something please let me know by @ing me Thanks

First year on these threads and it's been brilliant. Thanks all.

@IfyoushouldmeetaCrocodile

Sorry to bring the tone down but has anyone else had issues recently with Amazon? I've shopped with them for years with no problems but recently I've had 3 things which despite me ticking the 'please ship in Amazon packaging' box have arrived with no wrapping, just the address sticker on the actual item! 2 were totally spoilt as left in the rain and one is ungiftable as has sticky residue and a battered box! I have just tried to contact them again after waiting a week to hear back from their 'packing department' but my number has been blocked from accessing call backs Xmas Shock I'm quite upset actually as I am never ever rude, just making what I thought was a legitimate complaint Xmas Hmm
Have you tried contacting them on the app?
Someaddedsugar · 21/12/2020 21:40

@mummabear74

Congratulations *@icedaisy* Holly is such a lovely name.

I think I joined this thread about half way through. Thank you Reastie and to you all for your help. I'd love to join you again next year. Do you all start shopping in the sales?

I do! And there's a pre-Christmas bargains thread before Reasties' threads which is great for getting started!
Luxplus · 21/12/2020 22:01

Anyone wants to share what they ended up buying of gifts and/or what was hardest to get? Xmas Smile

hiredandsqueak · 21/12/2020 22:49

The bargainous £18 M&S Gin Hamper has been delivered to dsis today (date I asked for) Lots of Brownie points for me as it's been sold out for weeks where she lives. Thank you to whoever spotted and posted it on here.

Fuckingfuckssake · 21/12/2020 23:20

I split my gin hamper up for teacher presents, I gave the Head the gin, she sent me a personal message to thank me, it's going to be part of the centrepiece for her table on Christmas Day!

Fuckingfuckssake · 21/12/2020 23:22

Also my Switch turned up from Very after a nail biting wait, yet to see if my cashback confirms but potentially I got it for £223.

woodwaj · 21/12/2020 23:22

I dont suppose anyone has or knows of an upcoming ASOS code?

I have DS birthday 6 weeks after Xmas so I still bargain hunt (wrack my brain for ideas!!) In January!

Thanks Reastie for the threads

And Welcome baby Holly 👶

bettythebuilder · 21/12/2020 23:53

Now this thread has made me teary!
I'm so pleased the crumpets have made their way to Tipperary Xmas Smile

@icedaisy huge congratulations and welcome to baby Holly, a lovely name, my 'baby' Holly will be 18 on Christmas Day Xmas Grin

YuleAreBeingUnREASTIEable · 22/12/2020 04:52

@Theimpossiblegirl

Sad my crumpets to Tipperary didn't make thread title. Wink They arrived today and were very well received. I'll definitely use the online corner shop again, when though they ended up being the world's most expensive crumpets.
Sorry I didn’t use it for thread title. Nothing personal at all, I’ve been quite hectic this year with personal stuff so haven’t been around as much for the chat etc, it’s nothing personal.

Hoping for some good sale purchases if anyone spots anything as not going actual sales shopping this year in person

I received my panda and koala oodies yesterday. I'm in Ireland so not sure if that made a difference. I had a dispatch date of 15/12 but a couple of emails after this date saying there were delays. Glad to have gotten them, hope others get theirs.

Foggyday124 · 22/12/2020 07:35

IfyoushouldmeetaCrocodile about the blocked call backs. It happened to me too and it wasn’t Amazon blocking me. Speak to them via chat, not on the phone, and complain massively. They’ll give you back the money, let you keep the items (‘do you really want me to go to the post office to return this battered xy, stand in queues in the rain forever, and potentially catch a deadly virus for something that I didn’t cause?!), maybe even give you a gift card for your troubles. If this doesn’t happen quickly during the chat ask to chat with a supervisor.
Once they’ve done that tell them about the blocked calls and they’ll sort that out too.

HoHoHolyMackerel · 22/12/2020 07:41

Lots of lego mini sets down to £4.50 this morning from £9. None near me sadly, I'm already trying to nab things for DS next year bday and Christmas!

HoHoHolyMackerel · 22/12/2020 07:41

On argos BTW (that would help!!)

sorryiasked · 22/12/2020 07:47

ESPA up to half price gift sets (also says free next day UK delivery over £50 but I wouldn't chance it)

Yeknom · 22/12/2020 07:59

I second everyone else's sentiments. A great year for some bargains. Thank you so much to everyone who has offered recommendations too! Wishing you all a very happy Christmas!

Bring on the sales Wink I need to keep my eye out for some playmobil/Thomas mini/lego advent calendars!

PunkAssMoFo · 22/12/2020 08:18

Thanks @sorryiasked that’s the January birthdays sorted. EXTRA5 gives an extra 5% off.

I was going to start a thread similar to this the other day as I have a few things I wish I'd bought but didn't and now regret! Wasn't sure what to call the thread though or if it would get much interest

@HoHoHolyMackerel thanks for the Argos Lego tip. It's worth checking Amazon for any of the Lego sets out of stock at Argos - there was one I wanted for £4.50 which was out of stock at Argos but Amazon has it at the same price with Prime delivery.
HoHoHolyMackerel · 22/12/2020 09:03

@ThePurpleGirl I couldn't find any of the £4.50 set son amazon, which did you get?

TakeMeToYourLiar · 22/12/2020 09:08

I know it's early fir the sales thread but

frugi sale has started

Some very good prices. Have stocked up for DS who has had a growth spurt abd outgrown all his trousers

@YuleAreBeingUnREASTIEable
Please don't feel bad, it's just idle chat. You do such a good job running these threads and we all appreciate it so much!
Have a lovely Christmas one and all. Flowers Gin Xmas Smile Wine Glitterball

Haveyoubrushedyourteeth · 22/12/2020 10:56

Have any of you any experience of a toy/science set thingy called Hot wires please?

Dd has apparently asked Santa for it Hmm and obviously all presents are bought and wrapping done. I'm already over budget for her, but if it's decent then I'll do my best to track it down, but if it's overpriced plastic tat that's not going to get more than a passing glance, then I'll not bother.
If anyone is going to know then I know it'll be you lovely lot!

margaritasbythesea · 22/12/2020 11:07

It is this Haveyoubrushedyourteeth. It's quite fun but not mega amazing. They do learn about circuits. It's a but more educational than my children wanted!
