Thanks @raindropsonrosesand for the title

I just accidentally set up the thread in the wrong talk board 🤦🏻‍♀️!

Think this will be the thread with Christmas Day on it. I hope all of you have wonderful christmases (well, as wonderful as possible atm) and everyone enjoys all the bargains and you’ve saved money. We’ve been quite careful this year and I’ve definitely saved even more money than usual!

Keep an eye on the sales, I’m assuming the actual shops, given many are closed in the SE atm, will have pretty mega discounts to shift stock once they’re reopened.

You’ve all kept me sane in a slightly insane world this year, here’s to next year Brew Wine Thanks

please post any bargain info IN BOLD to make it easier to scroll through the thread.

To make things bold you:
Put a star each side of what you want to make bold like this but without the space between the star and the writing *

Just a reminder you can watch the thread by clicking on ‘watch this thread’ at the top of the first message. It’s much easier for everyone than so many place marking every time which can use up a fair chunk of each thread to scroll through Thanks

Here’s Barbarara’s instructions from last year on doing clicky links:

Open double square brackets
No space
Paste link
Space
Name of link
No space
Close double square brackets

Like this
[[www.amazingbargains.com bargain ]] but with no space after/before the brackets.
If I do it again without the extra spaces only the word bargain will appear in blue

For more links etc see message 2

If any link doesn’t work or you want to add something please let me know by @ing me Thanks

Congratulations on baby Holly Xmas Smile and thanks to everyone who contributes to these threads, I only offered up a couple of bargains this year but just reading along and seeing all the kindness has meant a lot ,this year especially.

TheCrow · 21/12/2020 14:03

Congrats on the thread baby, Holly is a lovely name! Flowers

My local Aldi have the big Christmas squishmallows back in stock, there was plenty of all the designs, £6.99 each

thaegumathteth · 21/12/2020 14:26

Congrats @icedaisy. My December baby is almost 14 now and he's always loved having a birthday now.

We definitely spend more on Christmas as a rule. This year dd got a trampoline for her birthday in September so not this year but definitely in general, Christmas is a bigger deal here all round.

TheDrsDocMartens · 21/12/2020 14:44

Congratulations @icedaisy
Hope you have a lovely snuggly Christmas!

WhereTheresAHill · 21/12/2020 16:18

Congratulations on Baby Holly’s arrival!
Another thank you to everyone who has contributed and helped with all of my gifts this year..... a thought I keep having though... has anyone ever received any of the infamous bargains from on here and wondered if the person sending them is part of these threads too?! Hmm

sugarplumfairy2010 · 21/12/2020 16:37

Congratulations on baby Holly what a lovely name(it's my sisters name too ❤) last minute have decided I would like to get a board game to play Christmas day but is there any that adults and a 3 Yr old will both enjoy?

FizzyPink · 21/12/2020 16:47

I’m not entirely sure how good 3 year olds are with numbers but maybe bingo? I got a good set from TKMaxx for only £10. We also bought Christmas articulate which looks fairly simple, perhaps if they were on a team with an adult who read the words.

Theimpossiblegirl · 21/12/2020 17:39

Sad my crumpets to Tipperary didn't make thread title. Wink
They arrived today and were very well received. I'll definitely use the online corner shop again, when though they ended up being the world's most expensive crumpets.

Scout2016 · 21/12/2020 18:07

Oooh, can we have a pun for the next thread title, if there is one? Something like "the one where we toast the arrival of the world's most expensive crumpets" ...but snappier?

secretlyhappy · 21/12/2020 18:20

I twitched and bought Lego friends jungle animal clinic from Amazon. I couldn't resist when it was £50.

EvilHerbivore · 21/12/2020 18:33

Auwww, hello baby Holly!

SparklingLime · 21/12/2020 19:16

Crumpets to Tipperary has been the highlight of this year’s threads for me, @Theimpossiblegirl 😊

eitak22 · 21/12/2020 19:46

so glad the crumpets made it!

Last of my posted presents arrived today which is good

Fuckingfuckssake · 21/12/2020 20:01

Thanks @Luxplus for the tip!

Scout2016 · 21/12/2020 20:06

Does anyone know if One Hindred Stars, sellers of eye wateringly expensive dressing gowns, have January sales? Or does anyone have a discount code for them please?

Scout2016 · 21/12/2020 20:07

Bah, One Hundred Stars sorry

Someaddedsugar · 21/12/2020 20:10

[quote EvilHerbivore]Auwww, hello baby Holly!

IggyAce · 21/12/2020 20:35

Great to hear the crumpets arrived.

HermannlovesPauline · 21/12/2020 20:45

Thanks Reastie for the dedication to the threads - I’ve been on them with various names and always lurking.

It’s such a nice cosy feeling to have finished, wrapped and now be anticipating seeing people’s faces as they open their gifts.

It’s also so exciting when there are no qvc shopping days to Christmas 🎄

Hope everyone manages to have a good day and see you all next September xx

Luxplus · 21/12/2020 21:07

Thanks for all the lovely threads, enjoyed them all...
Hope all have a merry and festive Christmas holiday. We will celebrate a day before the majority of you.

SparklingLime · 21/12/2020 21:08

I bought a very reduced kimono from One Hundred Stars in February, @Scout2016. I think it was from the dregs of their sale.

SparklingLime · 21/12/2020 21:14

Obvs not for delivery by Christmas, but you can get six issues of The Phoenix kids’ magazine/comic for £1 here: thephoenixcomic.co.uk/

It’s great for encouraging reading, ages 7 to 14 ish. Worth getting for home-schooling 😬

purplepandas · 21/12/2020 21:18

I second the Phoenix, DD (9) is a reluctant reader and loves it.

mummabear74 · 21/12/2020 21:20

Congratulations @icedaisy Holly is such a lovely name.

I think I joined this thread about half way through. Thank you Reastie and to you all for your help. I'd love to join you again next year. Do you all start shopping in the sales?

IfyoushouldmeetaCrocodile · 21/12/2020 21:34

Sorry to bring the tone down but has anyone else had issues recently with Amazon? I've shopped with them for years with no problems but recently I've had 3 things which despite me ticking the 'please ship in Amazon packaging' box have arrived with no wrapping, just the address sticker on the actual item! 2 were totally spoilt as left in the rain and one is ungiftable as has sticky residue and a battered box! I have just tried to contact them again after waiting a week to hear back from their 'packing department' but my number has been blocked from accessing call backs Xmas Shock I'm quite upset actually as I am never ever rude, just making what I thought was a legitimate complaint Xmas Hmm
