Thanks @GoblinDaughter for the title

It’s nearly December, Father Christmas is busy putting the final touches to his toys on the workshop and we are busy elves preparing for a somewhat different Christmas this year.

please post any bargain info IN BOLD to make it easier to scroll through the thread.

To make things bold you:
Put a star each side of what you want to make bold like this but without the space between the star and the writing *

Just a reminder you can watch the thread by clicking on ‘watch this thread’ at the top of the first message. It’s much easier for everyone than so many place marking every time which can use up a fair chunk of each thread to scroll through Thanks

Like this
[[www.amazingbargains.com bargain ]] but with no space after/before the brackets.
If I do it again without the extra spaces only the word bargain will appear in blue

@LittleSquirrels I have tested it extensively Grin. You can use regular powder, and you get a slightly better result than normal, or you can use the posh chocolate chips or flakes, but we found the very best that we tried was using Terry’s Chocolate Orange - 3 segments per cup. Plain dark chocolate works really well too, just break into chunks. It does an amazingly good job of melting the chocolate.

Code SHAKER takes 25% off, so more than offsets the delivery charge.

Scout2016 · 20/12/2020 18:11

Thanks to the poster who recommended the Chockle'Art kits. Made the melting snowmen today and cheered ourselves up a bit.

Zara sale is now live on the app and from 7 online. Delivery after Christmas though.

Does anyone have any lego experience? Would a just turned four year old be OK with a 5+ kit or is it too complicated and small parts? I have my eye on one and thought it's good for longevity but wondering whether I should stick to lego junior

Rockhopper81 · 20/12/2020 18:57

I bought 5+ kits for my nephews when they were 4 (we would do them together from a bit before that too) - we either did 'I found the piece and they put it in the right place' or 'they found the piece and I guided to the right place'. They loved them, but we're big on Lego as a family (and I'm a huge AFoL!).

The Juniors range has the bigger pieces, so it goes together quicker, but if they're going to have some help then I'd go for a regular 5+ kit. Some of the pieces are small, but they're great for fine motor development.

I would go for it personally - the help can be tailored to how much is needed. Smile

Anyone know if there's any Argos codes? Need something last minute from Argos! Thanks in advance

HoHoHolyMackerel · 20/12/2020 19:10

Thanks @Rockhopper81 that's brilliant advice

PunkAssMoFo · 20/12/2020 19:16

@PinkDaydreams there was quite a lot at 30-40% off. Items going out of stock as I was trying to check out though, so the good stuff may not be around for long.

IggyAce · 20/12/2020 19:18

@YuleAreBeingUnREASTIEable nearly full, definitely an epic thread count for this year.

Just made waffles with 3 in 1 waffle maker from Lidl, pleased to say it’s easy to use and everyone was very happy with their waffles.

YuleAreBeingUnREASTIEable · 20/12/2020 19:20

Thanks iggy, have been keeping an eye 👁 👍🏻

Last question about lego....ive looked at a medium size deep sea set with a submarine thing and a angler fish. Very cool. Is it or not the done thing to then buy a smaller box of the same 'group', so I'm looking at the 4+ one man diver pod with a shark or would it be better to buy a different range for the small box like City or police or something?

starlight36 · 20/12/2020 19:58

My DC are always delighted with any LEGO they receive. They mix and match all types so wouldn't expect everything to match. If the child doesn't have many sets yet it might be nice to get a few of the similar sets but it wouldn't be expected.

Raindropsonrosesand · 20/12/2020 20:05

Glad that made you chuckle Mahonia and thank you for the thread title nomination Xmas Blush

Gymnastic ninja dolls (and children) are such a normal part of our household that I barely notice them Xmas Grin

@HoHoHolyMackerel we bought this set for ds for his 6th birthday last week and he built the whole thing himself and thought it was very cool. I reckon a 4yr old with help would be fine
Squ1ggle · 20/12/2020 20:17

If anyone has a friction free shaving code could you pm me please? Asked on the referral thread but nothing yet

Rubyroo73 · 20/12/2020 20:20

Hellofayearsofar · 20/12/2020 20:26

I need the best knife sharpener and a small Japanese knife for DH. He has gone through a number of sharpeners but says that nothing does the job!

JoHo123 · 20/12/2020 20:32

@Hellofayearsofar we have World's Best Knife Sharpener with PowerGrip, Blue [[https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B001DXVL6K/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_fabc_-p73Fb9WKDP7V?tag=mumsnetforu03-21 this knife sharpener]] and have been very happy with it over the last few years. In fact my whole family now have them. I seem to remember that Japanese knives need to be sharpened at a different angle though so maybe double check that. I did see they have a £70 super pro version Confused Scroll down on Amazon and it had a comparison table. Hope that helps.

Hellofayearsofar · 20/12/2020 20:37

Thanks @JoHo123. He has one of those! I think he wants one that can do the Japanese knives too!

JoHo123 · 20/12/2020 20:37

Sorry, pressed post instead of preview. @Squ1ggle I can PM you a referral for ffs but it only gives you £3 off. It gives me £3 off too but I signed up for the trial then had one delivery but I’ve got two very small children - there’s no way I shave my legs often enough to need a subscription. If somebody else sends you a referral, please use theirs over mine!

MaudHatter · 20/12/2020 20:38

Argos have some good Lego deals on 2 for £15 . There’s a creator shark 3 in 1 set which is lovely

I've been on this thread for around ten minutes and have already bought two chocolate shakers!
I'm after a screen for a projector for
My son. Ideally with a stand and something easy to put up.
