Thanks @GoblinDaughter for the title

It’s nearly December, Father Christmas is busy putting the final touches to his toys on the workshop and we are busy elves preparing for a somewhat different Christmas this year.

please post any bargain info IN BOLD to make it easier to scroll through the thread.

To make things bold you:
Put a star each side of what you want to make bold like this but without the space between the star and the writing *

Just a reminder you can watch the thread by clicking on ‘watch this thread’ at the top of the first message. It’s much easier for everyone than so many place marking every time which can use up a fair chunk of each thread to scroll through Thanks

Thank you so much!

Sneezein3s · 19/12/2020 21:20

@Clementine8 I was exactly the same! Glad the tip helped x

FizzyPink · 19/12/2020 21:25

So my last two gifts to buy were a dressing gown and slippers for DP that I’d planning to go into town for tomorrow. Now we’re in tier 4 where’s my best bet to order from for them to be delivered before Christmas?

TwnklTwnklLittleStarfighter · 19/12/2020 21:27

I still can’t see Next sale slots, even on the web page. I’m logged into my account ...where do I go?

PunkAssMoFo · 19/12/2020 21:28

@FizzyPink Next are still delivering. Failing that, you might find something suitable in the large supermarkets.

ThatsMySantaHisBeardIsSoFluffy · 19/12/2020 21:29

Very, H&M and Next still say they're delivering before Christmas.

FizzyPink · 19/12/2020 21:31

Oohh @PunkAssMoFo supermarket is a great shout. I did order one already but it was really thin so I was keen to have a look in person to make sure it’s thick enough

4Minions2CallMyOwn · 19/12/2020 21:38

@lotusbell @Ck91

Thank you both so much! Think I’ll go with John Lewis as the 2 year guarantee sounds good for a reckless 15 year old lol

EvilHerbivore · 19/12/2020 21:38

Could anyone suggest a gift for a (female) colleague who is very kindly covering my Christmas Eve shift for me?
Around a fiver (but looks more!)

Freeekedout · 19/12/2020 21:40

I bought a gorgeous dressing gown from Sainsburys - a very pale cream colour with an embossed pattern. Had a hood. Beautiful quality, really thick. I'm worried it'll be too warm for the recipient! Excellent value. Definitely recommend.

buckeejit · 19/12/2020 22:08

30 ye old, id make a hamper from the supermarket of some fancy & interesting stuff. Consumables are best for folk we don't know well

Jfw82 · 19/12/2020 23:55

Had my step kids today and we did our early Christmas with them. Got dsd the sienna 'oodie' and she LOVED it Grin

IggyAce · 20/12/2020 05:22

@LutherRalph1 how about putting a hamper together. As part of my nephews & niece’s gift (2 teens & 5) I’ve done them an ice cream sundae hamper. It contains: sundae glasses, ice cream scoop, sauce (M&S do a Percy pig one), flakes, curly whirlys, cinder toffee, squirty cream.
Could also do a movie treats hamper.

Help please! I'm looking for a general knowledge game for a year 6 (age 11) that knows more than I do to play with adults that vary in age from 20-70. Probably a big ask.
I did think family edition trivial pursuit but not sure what the questions are like.
This is not any kind of boast, but he's a bit of a sponge for information and answers questions on tipping point / the chase really well. I don't want to put him off with something too hard or waste money on something too young. Any guidance appreciated

Raindropsonrosesand · 20/12/2020 07:06

Can anyone recommend dolls with jointed arms and legs?

DD likes to make her dolls do gymnastics and ninja moves, and has told me that joints make it much more fun.

I've seen that there are a few barbies and Enchantimals with joints - and she does tend to play more with small dolls - but I'm wondering whether she would like a jointed My Generation sized one too if I could find one.

Would appreciate any other ideas for ninja-move dolls before deciding which to get! Birthday just coming up as well as Christmas, so doesn't matter if it's a longer delivery time.

Thank you!

LutherRalph1 · 20/12/2020 07:07

Thanks @IggyAce that's a great idea. I had been trying to order one or the marshmallow kits but won't arrive before Xmas, then toyed with the idea of making my own but hit a wall with the flame. A movie night hamper might be the way forward!

Dd is the same (answers the questions on the chase), we have the chase board game which is good but really needs more than 2 players which we rarely have, we have a couple trivial pursuit games which are good too, the tipping point board game is rubbish, wouldn't recommend it. Who wants to be a milliomare (if they still make it) is a good one, the questions are good and obviously get harder as you go along, we have a old version from when I was a teenager.
sorryiasked · 20/12/2020 08:22

@SadderThanEeyore I'd go with family Trivial Pursuit - you can see some questions on the photos here

sorryiasked · 20/12/2020 08:26

@Raindropsonrosesand have you seen the Team GEM dolls?

whoknows1230 · 20/12/2020 08:31

@SadderThanEeyore does it have to be a general knowledge game? If not, something like Labyrinth could be good.

Beadley · 20/12/2020 08:34

@pigletpie2177

I forget now who shared the chocolate society hot chocolate shaker but it arrived today and it's great! Bought for myself but debating buying a couple more as gifts. SHAKER gave me 25% off 👌🏻
I ordered one too. When it arrived, my initial impression was that it had been expensive for simple concept. Once I tried the hot chocolate however, I was converted - the texture is divine! So smooth and thick - and that was with low fat milk! As good as any high end hot chocolate I’ve ever had.
Lellyo · 20/12/2020 09:00

I’m twitching terribly🙈 and have been looking at some LED lights for our DS bedroom can anyone recommend any at all please? I’m going round in circles

Lovemusic33 · 20/12/2020 09:14

I’m trying hard not to twitch, today is the last day I have without the dc’s and I’m tempted to go to tk maxx before doing my food shopping, they don’t actually need anything else but I’m feeling sad that their piles look smaller this year (teens, and the lack of toys). Dd2 still likes lego but I have checked argos and they have none of the grown up Lego sets left in stock so at least I won’t be twitching there.

Rubyroo73 · 20/12/2020 09:23

oops that was for @Raindropsonrosesand
