Thanks @GoblinDaughter for the title

It’s nearly December, Father Christmas is busy putting the final touches to his toys on the workshop and we are busy elves preparing for a somewhat different Christmas this year.

please post any bargain info IN BOLD to make it easier to scroll through the thread.

To make things bold you:
Put a star each side of what you want to make bold like this but without the space between the star and the writing *

Just a reminder you can watch the thread by clicking on ‘watch this thread’ at the top of the first message. It’s much easier for everyone than so many place marking every time which can use up a fair chunk of each thread to scroll through Thanks

Here’s Barbarara’s instructions from last year on doing clicky links:

Close double square brackets

Like this
[[www.amazingbargains.com bargain ]] but with no space after/before the brackets.
If I do it again without the extra spaces only the word bargain will appear in blue

For more links etc see message 2

If any link doesn’t work or you want to add something please let me know by @ing me Thanks

Just a placemark! 🎄🎄🎄

BunnyBerries · 11/12/2020 10:11

I just want to thank whoever it was last year who recommended using the stripy candy bags to wrap stocking fillers etc. I have used them to wrap homemade advent calendar presents and it saved me SO much time wrapping individually. Thank you, thank you!

ClaraTheImpossibleGirl · 11/12/2020 10:23

Buckley London jewellery have another Fiver Friday sale including some lovely baubles

I have my fingers crossed for more Hotel Chocolat bargains soon to finish off my buying... online shopping only for me now, I'm stuck at home with a poorly child Sad

SingaporeSlinky · 11/12/2020 10:33

BunnyBerries I used that tip last year too and had forgotten about it until I opened a random box last week and a hundred more fell out! Was such a good idea, will be using them again this year for our stockings.

Rubyroo73 · 11/12/2020 10:42

Ladies bobble hats - can anyone recommend some nice brands (with fake fur bobble)?
Thanks!

Mrsfussypants1 · 11/12/2020 10:55

Im finished at last. I just want to say a big thank you to everyone on this thread this year. Its such a lovely place to spend time and I've had so much fun picking up bargains all year from Schleich horse sets to those Bakedin kits I've got a few 2021 birthdays covered. I wish you all a very merry Christmas and i look forward to following the boxing day threads.

12% off site-wide with Lilysilk: code NEW12%

I was able to use it on the ‘buy one silk pillowcase get a second 40% off‘ offer. When I put the code it it said not eligible but took another 12% off anyway. Valid today and tomorrow, but they’re not guaranteeing Christmas delivery after today. Two silk pillowcases for just over £40.

Can anyone help me with my dad please? Just him and then I’m done (Couldn’t have done it without all your help). I struggle every year. He buys everything he wants or needs and is really fussy so I never know what to buy. Budget £25. Late fifties, his only hobby is going to the gym but I’ve already bought him all the gym related gifts you could ever think of. He likes holidays too and goes away a lot most years. I got him one of those buy a gift vouchers for a meal one year which he didn’t like. I’ve tried things like gloves, hats, scarves, toiletries, none of which went down very well.

Thedarknightsaredrawingin · 11/12/2020 11:07

Real shops have opened here today so popping into town after school pick up to fetch one pyjama top (just long sleeve primark number) and tights.

I have one gift to purchase for my 80yr old recently widowed mother in law? Help me please my heads too full to think as we haven’t even buried the poor soul yet.

Famousthehero · 11/12/2020 11:07

@sunshineskies

Thedarknightsaredrawingin · 11/12/2020 11:13

@Rubyroo73 I got this hat and it feels much more expensive. Quick delivery too.

Famousthehero · 11/12/2020 11:14

Those with Vodafone, rewards today are candy kittens stocking fillers, and personalised wrapping paper, delivery fee is £3 on both of them.

Think I'll put my codes on the Vodafone thread

Hawkin's Bazaar have reductions on stocking fillers here - I got quite a few bits for my DC and it was quick delivery too. Royal Mail have lost a couple of my parcels but HB send via courier.

Sunshineskies · 11/12/2020 11:16

Thanks @Famousthehero I’ve tried most of those before apart from the calendar which actually sounds like it could be a hit, thank you.

So, does anyone know where’s the best place to get a bargain photo calendar? I remember reading the quality isn’t very good on some sites (didn’t pay attention at the time as hadn’t planned to get one).

If anyone has any other ideas for my dad would be grateful as I’ll have to get something to go with the calendar.

Does he have any hobbies? My dad likes learning about the history of old pubs in our local area so he’s got several books about them. He doesn’t read fiction books which makes things tricky but over the years I’ve bought him books about the history of Detroit car manufacturing, albums to listen to before you die or nice coffee table books about birds as he’s an avid bird watcher. He also likes making chutneys so we’ve bought him a chutney recipe book before and a nice BBQ one. This year I’ve got him some handmade soap, photo coasters of the grandchildren and Uno to play in his camper van when he goes away.

What is he passionate about? My dad likes trying to cut down on waste so last year I got him some shampoo bars and a caddy for his used razor blades.

FizzyPink · 11/12/2020 11:40

@Sunshineskies I’m in the same predicament with my dad and he sounds exactly like yours only he’s too grumpy to go on holiday! I won’t ask him what he wants as it’s always something ridiculously expensive and then he shoves £10 in a card for me!

Famousthehero · 11/12/2020 11:42

Sorry for your loss @thedarknightsaredrawingin

@Thedarknightsaredrawingin ooh thanks - that looks very pretty!!

I’m sorry to hear this. How about making her some vouchers to do things with you? EG out for afternoon tea/a nice walk together/wine and film night? She’ll probably appreciate the gift of time with you all rather than tangible stuff.
TheDrsDocMartens · 11/12/2020 11:51

I shouldn’t be here.
And why do I have more stocking fillers than kids.
Some things I have 5/6/7 of 😳🤷🏻‍♀️

CeeceeBloomingdale · 11/12/2020 12:01

Here's a niche request! Any ideas for scandi themed stocking fillers for DH?

InDreamland · 11/12/2020 12:18

Just a reminder that the QVC Molton Brown TSV is today. For £39.98 + £3.95p&p you get:

2 x full size body wash
1 x full size hand wash
2 x 100mls shampoo and conditioner
1 x wash bag

If you use the £10 off referral code it's £33.93 delivered (if bought direct from Molton Brown it's apparently over £80).

Mine is supposed to be delivered by Hermes today (I ordered on pre-launch).

GingerFoxInAT0phat · 11/12/2020 12:21

Part of my Hotel Chocolat order has arrived from
Tuesday, now feeling nervous about the other half that hasn’t come with it. Looking at the tracking it says it’s all been delivered Hmm
