Thanks @GoblinDaughter for the title

It’s nearly December, Father Christmas is busy putting the final touches to his toys on the workshop and we are busy elves preparing for a somewhat different Christmas this year.

please post any bargain info IN BOLD to make it easier to scroll through the thread.

To make things bold you:
Put a star each side of what you want to make bold like this but without the space between the star and the writing *

Just a reminder you can watch the thread by clicking on ‘watch this thread’ at the top of the first message. It’s much easier for everyone than so many place marking every time which can use up a fair chunk of each thread to scroll through Thanks

Close double square brackets

Like this
[[www.amazingbargains.com bargain ]] but with no space after/before the brackets.
If I do it again without the extra spaces only the word bargain will appear in blue

If any link doesn’t work or you want to add something please let me know by @ing me Thanks

@ItWasTheBestOfTimes Thanks for the heads up!

Sadly, I've just tried to order the BF collection and the large chocolate hamper (£40 each) from Hotel Chocolat and it says 'Your shopping bag doesn't meet the conditions for this code'

I have no clue why it hasn't worked and I'm now desperate for HC bargains! Grin

uniqlo · 30/11/2020 09:23

Not very Christmasy but whoever I was chatting to about the Meaco dehumidifier on a previous thread, I ended up buying this one as it was cheaper than JL/amazon plus it comes with a 3 year warranty. BLK5 took an extra 5% off plus I went through TCB so overall pleased Smile

lolarabbit · 30/11/2020 09:29

@ArthurChristmas2 what about some Balti bowls serve the curries in? Might be a bit bulky but I wouldn't have thought would be too heavy. (Sorry couldn't get link to work but loads on Amazon )
@BigBadBox I've gone down the craft route for my neice (6) so would a big container/drawers full of art and craft supplies be any good as a main present?

I think it's because the large hamper is click and collect only Confused

For those wanting Christmas decorations Dibor have some lovely wreaths and stockings. We just ordered some cast iron socking holders which were much cheaper from them direct than from not on the high street.
10% off Dibor when you sign up to their newsletter.

I also have lakeland codes valid from tomorrow if anyone still needs them. PM me if you do.

@BigBadBox

Can anyone help me? What does my 5 year old want for Christmas? I have stocking fillers, but no main present. I've given 2 ideas to family expecting a request soon, but I'm still getting 'dunno'.

We already have; well-stocked play kitchen, loads of dolls and babies with accessories, bike, scooter, trampoline, camera, cuddly toys, small world stuff. And I don't want to get tech.

Any suggestions?

Name bunting for her bedroom? This lady makes gorgeous ones www.facebook.com/buntingandbags/ Orchard Toys games? The shopping list one is great, I’ve also bought a unicorn one for DD. Is there anywhere nearby she’d like an annual membership for? Could you make up a jar or box of fun activities for the next year that she can choose from, some free ones like movie night at home and some more expensive ones like a zoo trip. Does she like baking? How about a nice apron, mixing bowl, fun biscuit cutters, sprinkles.
BigBadBox · 30/11/2020 09:38

@Luxplus posca pens might be an idea...

The irony is that I'm quite mean/frugal about buying toys, but she has 2 older sisters and they all tend to pool toys. So a couple of babies and a pram each and my living room is suddenly a creche.

BigBadBox · 30/11/2020 09:41

Browsing Hobbycraft I saw this felt tree for £6. We have one that comes out every year and gets lots ofnplay

SpamIAm · 30/11/2020 09:49

@PinkPanther27 any particular set or budget? The knight bus is one of the cheapest impressive sets I think.

TheLastStarfighter · 30/11/2020 10:01

I am such a sheep 🐑. I bought loads from H&M even though I couldn’t get the Amazon voucher to work.

I think I might be done for Xmas shopping now Hmm. Just a couple of bits to order, but I know what they are already.

Carrie76 · 30/11/2020 10:05

@Avoca76 we have this one and find it good

I ordered it too yesterday @uniqlo along with a packet of filters. They messaged this morning saying delivery today but only one box with the filters came. Hoping the dehumidifier follows shortly.
MydeamonsanOstrich · 30/11/2020 10:09

@BigBadBox what about a Go Ape gift voucher? Currently 25% off for Black Friday. And vouchers are valid for a year from purchase date.

DinosaurOfFire · 30/11/2020 10:13

@BigBadBox Polly pockets, schleich Bayala or horse club playsets, Rainbow High dolls are on the list here. As well as build a bear pokemon. What sort of thing does s/he like? Hot wheels are also a hit with my daughter, as are the battery operated walking animals on leads.

PinkPanther27 · 30/11/2020 10:21

@SpamIAm
Thanks, I would ideally spend about £30-40 or possibly stretch to £45-50.

caffeineanddryshampoo · 30/11/2020 10:23

Has anyone seen a bargainous canvas toy storage play mat? The sort of one they bung their lego in and can play on? Bought a flimsy one from China years ago but fancy a canvas one as a proper present for different DS. Have seen lovely ones on Kidly but hoping to spend less.

TheLastStarfighter · 30/11/2020 10:29

A bit random, but for those looking for presents for children under 5-7 yrs, this is a great blog post on childhood development schemas (rotation, enclosure, transportation etc) and good for helping to identify the types of toys your kids might love based on their current stage and behaviours.

Changingagain · 30/11/2020 10:31

BigBadBox lego and playmobil are always a hit with my 5 year old. I know you said they have small world stuff, but mine loves making cities from different sets so is always after more. Also, games to play with me and dh. Don't rock the boat (get the real one if you go for it, we had a cheapy version first and it wouldn't balance at all!), dobble and grabolo are current favourites.

Rockhopper81 · 30/11/2020 10:36

@Kerrierr - thanks for the Chameleon game link, it's a fantastic price. I do like the Big Potato games, so looking forward to adding that to the collection. 😊

Peakedin1997 · 30/11/2020 10:37

@BigBadBox my 5 year old is getting lots of lego and some rollerskates

IggyAce · 30/11/2020 10:47

Asda George have 20% off menswear online, I’ve just got dh socks and pj bottoms. I need to get to a home bargains to finish my shopping, thank god isolation ends today. Can I just say this lovely thread has helped keep me sane during the last 2 weeks. Now fingers crossed I don’t have to isolate again, my poor ds did 3 days back at school before his bubble closed again.

Pawpawpaws · 30/11/2020 10:48

I’m slowly getting there, only a couple of tricky family members still to buy for them I’m done (until I see another bargain here!)
Does anyone have a Boden £10 off voucher that they won’t be using that they would be happy to send me please?

Makedo · 30/11/2020 10:49

Aeropress and filters £22 at pact coffee

here

@BigBadBox my DD has similar toys (and as 1 of 3 similar problems!) For her birthday the other day she got a lottie doll and she adores it. She is getting a giant bubble making kit which I think she will enjoy and a frozen dress among other things.

It is my 7 year old DD I am stuck for!

IggyAce · 30/11/2020 10:51

Free delivery from National Trust with code FREENTDEL valid until 21st December.
I posted again in case anyone missed it, they have some lovely calendars and some stocking fillers for kids. I order ds a solar powered torch key ring for £3

I picked one up in TK Maxx pre lockdown. It was reduced to £3 from £15 I think. The packaging was battered, so wouldn't be giftable, but as it's for my kids I don't mind.
