NEW INFO PLZ READ
**please post any bargain info IN BOLD to make it easier to scroll through the thread.

To make things bold you:
Put a star each side of what you want to make bold like this but without the space between the star and the writing *

Just a reminder you can watch the thread by clicking on ‘watch this thread’ at the top of the first message. It’s much easier for everyone than so many place marking every time which can use up a fair chunk of each thread to scroll through Thanks

Not just for xmas gifts but Craghoppers have a discount code for 15% off MVC15-5 and I've also added my 25% discount on the referral thread.
You cant beat their waterproof coats and its a great site to look around if you have a hiking/dogwalking type person to buy for :)

passremarkable · 06/10/2020 23:47

@lexloofah thank you so much for the lakeland code sorry I though ti'd posted to say thanks earlier but just realised I didn't click post. I got the beer brewing kit for OH

IveBeenGood · 06/10/2020 23:48

@Notlongnow1 and @Rockhopper81 thank you both For your suggestions. I’ll have a chat with my partner and make a decision - he does have an iPad, so both options are looking good.

@Merriwicks I bought my partner the nespresso delonghi latissima from John Lewis last year. It’s great! I can’t find it there anymore and it’s priced for more than we paid for it on their website:, www.delonghi.com/en-gb/products/coffee/coffee-makers/nespresso/lattissima-pro-en-750mb-0132192229

I would try and find out what type of machine he may want as they’re all quite different. We’d just had DS2 and whilst a bean to cup machine would be ideal, we knew we just want to press a button and drink coffee. This one has nespresso capsules, you pop them in, press the drink you want and it makes it. Milk gets heated and foamed dependent on the drink. Coffee pods get delivered and also taken away for recycling. We got it for around £280.

Brashopper · 06/10/2020 23:57

@Merriwicks I don’t know as I don’t drink coffee. The programme I use most heats and froths milk to go on top of hot chocolate.

You can also heat and whip milk just to drink or add flakes of real chocolate a bit like the Hotel Chocolate Velvitiser. Or you can froth milk without heating it.

This is the instruction book for the combined coffee maker and milk frother.

Thank you everyone, you really are so helpful! I woukd have been lost at where to even start.
Unfortunately dh wont even know what he is looking for as he has only started drinming coffee this past 3/4 months. Has always been a tea man. I at least like the smell of coffee, although i hate the taste. Tea just turns me, the look, colour, smell taste. So im happy of his new found love of coffee

IveBeenGood · 07/10/2020 00:32

@lotusbell that’s so kind of you, thank you. Unfortunately it is for his birthday on the 9th October. We were late with ideas for ideas for him and this year my SIL was struggling for ideas herself. It was only seeing how my 5 year old engaged with his dad’s Bigtrak tonight that we thought about a coding toy or game - otherwise we’d have given cash! Again, thank you for your kind offer.

Jacopone · 07/10/2020 01:06

Finally I have something to share. Just arrived in my inbox - MSE email with Flavourly deal - 48 craft beer case for £48 incl delivery. If not glamorous enough as a Christmas present, perhaps useful in the run up time! I know nothing of craft beers but decided to surprise myself (although must remember husband is the intended recipient😁).

Sophie Allport autumn sale. 15% off selected items.

anonymouse86 · 07/10/2020 06:55

Hi,

Someone mentioned yesterday the Morrison's half price toy event was supposed to be starting today. There's nothing on their website but I'm sure someone also mentioned it can go online the day after it starts in store. If anyone happens to be in Morrison's today will they post whether it's started please? My nearest ones a 30min drive away.

Thanks.

@Merriwicks - if your DH is a coffee newbie I'd definitely recommend a stove top coffee maker - they make the strong expresso that you need for a latte - there are loads of options out there but you'll get one for c£10-15. They are so simple to use. Then you just need ground coffee (you can get him a grinder and beans for his birthday next year) Aeropress are good but make a longer coffee, harder to get the stronger expresso you'd need

The separate frother will mean you can also use it for hot chocolate and frothy cold milk (pink nesquik in this house)

lotusbell · 07/10/2020 07:28

@IveBeenGood, ah sorry I missed that bit. If you want it for Christmas, will happily send it on nearer the time!

JinglesWish · 07/10/2020 07:36

Tesco toy sale I just had a quick browse, as had eldest DC with me. Here are a couple of bits I’ll be going back for..

The last photo is the Lego Knight Bus down time £23. Empty shelf, so will check back for more stock.

Tim Peake’s new book Limitless is on pre-order for £10 Smile

Sunshineskies · 07/10/2020 07:46

Just another shout to see if anyone has any ideas for my aunt whose birthday is Friday? She’s had a rubbish year and I’d like to treat her. Although with a budget of only £20 it’s a a bit difficult. Had ordered Penhaligons perfume and it got cancelled. A lovely poster gaviscinismyfriend suggested The molton brown handcream on qvc but it was sold out. Any other ideas much appreciated.
She’s in her 80s. Nice slippers or scarf could be something she’d like. She loves beauty and perfume but she’s into her brands so a lot of it is out of my price range. She used to travel a lot and was very active but has been poorly recently and bed bound. Maybe something to help with the boredom.. although I know she’s got her tablet for games and films etc.
Not too fussed about the item being there for Friday now, would just like her to have something.
Hoping you bargain hunters can help!

JinglesWish · 07/10/2020 07:53

@Sunshineskies just to echo what a PP suggested, I’d look at the premium beauty brands on the QVC website. If you look on the referral thread, there will be £10 off codes to use. Delivery was quick on the Molton Brown set I ordered.

Just check they do a gift option, so the price isn’t on the delivery note

UselessInDisguise · 07/10/2020 07:57

Morning all, just wanted to say a huge thanks for all your bargainous help. It's my DS1 3rd birthday today and he's just demolished a pile of presents, mostly paw patrol which I got a steal thanks to all you lovely people. He's especially enjoying the paw patrol helicopter which in the end I got for £15!! Down from £40 using half price sale plus a jacks club code promotion. I think it was @NoWordForFluffy who recommended that so thanks Grin. And also the paw patrol play doh which he will LOVE (£6) when we sit down to do it. All in £200 (RRP) of stuff for £100 which just before Christmas and on mat leave is just brilliant.

thebrightestcoloursfillmyhead · 07/10/2020 07:58

Well now I need a milk frother in my life. We've used a stove top coffee pot for years... how have I never thought of putting frothed milk on top for a latte?

Can anyone recommend something to mount an iPad in the car so both kids can see it? I've seen some on amazon that mount between the front headrests so it's central for viewing by both passengers in the back but, as ever with Amazon, for every good review there's also a poor one. Would much rather buy something recommended by someone here. We're off on our first holiday in 5 years at half term, driving to the Netherlands, and my kids (almost 6 and almost 3) aren't used to long journeys. I'm hoping if I can find something that works it'll avoid a lot of back seat squabbles and many "are we nearly there yet?" questions. Thanks.

bookish83 · 07/10/2020 07:58

@Sunshineskies

What about a Readly subscription? You could get 3 months for about £20, or have a look for offers as perhaps you could get more like 4/5 months if you pay monthly for it.

It is really good. We have it and the amount of magazines on there is crazy! I think there may be the puzzles ones too.

Access via the app is nice and clear on an ipad. If she already uses for films there should be no problem with access as it is a very user friendly app.

You can actually do a family share so you could have the app subscription and 'give' her access and her own name and favourites.

Can you tell I love it? Grin

Clarabella72 · 07/10/2020 08:02

@ Sunshineskies what about a magazine subscription? Last year there were some that were 6 magazines for £25ish

I think Hearst has had some good deals on and sometimes you get a nice freebie?
