Breakfast on Christmas morning

What does everyone have for breakfast on Christmas morning?

Is it tradition? Do you change it up every year?

We try to have something a bit special and change it up every year, in recent years we've had- pancakes, pannatone french toast, bacon sandwiches (not so fancy 🤣) our favourite childhood cereals, bake at home pain au chocolat. So I'm kind of stuck for this year.... hit me with your suggestions 🥰

Love this thread! Restrictions permitting (I am in an area where we can't have any guests) I'm hoping to have my parents around in the morning for a little brekkie so loving the ideas.

Up until last year, without fail it was chocolate for breakfast. First Christmas not waking up at my parents was last year (at the grand old age of 30!) and I mixed it up a bit. Smoked salmon and scrambled eggs.

Love a Buck's Fizz but I'm pregnant this year so just OJ in a champagne flute for me!

Eggs Royale with home-made crumpets and hollandaise here, with a dash of OJ to go in my champers. . .

Usually some kind of pastry for us, that can be heated up and eaten whenever.
Last year was chocolate chip croissants.
This year will either be cinnamon rolls or mincemeat twists.

Usually a bacon butty. Something treaty but light or else we wouldn't find the space for Christmas Dinner.

Congrats!!! I'm also in local restriction are (NE) so hoping we can have our parents round for breakfast/mince pies this year. We started the tradition last year which is when we announced that we were getting married 😊 can't help but think things will be very different this year but I like having something to get excited about

I always make Nigella's Christmas morning muffins and have one with coffee. No-one else usually bothers with anything in prep for later. We have blinis with cream cheese and smoked salmon with champagne or prosecco late morning.

When we had DBro, DSiL , DMum and dDad for Christmas ( there's DH , DD , SA and me in our house) I did a full cooked breakfast .

DBro brings bacon and saudage ( proper Butchers ones )
I do these , as well as Vegetarian sausage , vegetarian bacon,, baked beans , mushrooms , potato scones ,eggs eitherr fried or scrambled , rolls and toast .
Lots of tea, coffee , fresh orange .

When it's just the four of us we have the croissants on Christmas Eve , the Vegetarian Bacon, Quorn sausages , eggs , beans , toast on the Boxing Day .

Christmas Day for DH is toast , eggs , Potato scones
DS DD and I have pancakes and Cinnamon buns ( the Jus Rol ones)

And of course Boxing Day breakfast is trifle

How the heck have I got to nearly 40 and never done this???

we used to just have toast as save ourselves for a giant turkey at 2pm, but the last couple of years, we have had croissants, and my mum has had smoked salmon.

It is the only day of the year that I drink orange juice for breakfast with Cava or Prosecco Grin.

DD's breakfast consists mainly of whatever chocolate is in her stocking. We always open presents before lunch although last year we saved some until after lunch for a change.

Babycham and Matchmakers is my traditional Christmas breakfast. Sometimes I make some cinnamon buns to eat as we exchange presents.

Just normal breakfast (porridge usually); then smoked salmon sandwiches for lunch and we have Christmas dinner in the evening.

@LunaLoveFood

Chocolate. It's the only day of the year you get chocolate for breakfast. Although my DC have their usual cereal first as they're weird.

Surely Easter Sunday is chocolate for breakfast day? My DC get cereal served in half an easter egg as a bowl Grin

I grew up abroad - by which I mean another continent every 2-3 years. We always followed a routine on Christmas Day: egg and cheese on buttered wholegrain toast. I’ve had that with all sorts of local fruits, veggies, sauce, etc. Even at home iin Scotland, we follow this tradition, with tomato and cucumbers and whatever other fruit and veg is available.
