Breakfast on Christmas morning

What does everyone have for breakfast on Christmas morning?

Is it tradition? Do you change it up every year?

We try to have something a bit special and change it up every year, in recent years we've had- pancakes, pannatone french toast, bacon sandwiches (not so fancy 🤣) our favourite childhood cereals, bake at home pain au chocolat. So I'm kind of stuck for this year.... hit me with your suggestions 🥰

Just realised I also didn't contribute much to the thread. I have Baileys coffee and a croissant. If I'm cooking Christmas dinner I'm not hungry so just tend to pic at stuff.

Smoked salmon on toast with a squeeze of lemon and black pepper plus champagne( cava / processco) Kids toast and chocolate from Father Christmas. Loads of tea to drink as we as a family are real tea drinkers. ( I mean we have a problem get the tea pot out/ or hi I will put the kettle on type of family) Love Christmas morning with the present opening and family coming and going. ( Prob not this year with the to and froing) Dinner at 3pm and then quiz and games or cards in the evening. However Boxing day breakfast is the best with a full fry up with bubble and squeak cooked by my husband.

So not a selection box and a bottle of prosseco with a tiny drop of OJ in it to make it socially acceptable to be pissed by 10am?

Ok....I'll get my coat.....

Usually we meet family for a Christmas breakfast of eggs, bacon, toast, with some pastries etc.

We don’t eat dinner until 4/5 ish.

But with restrictions likely we’ll probably be at home so might do a North Pole breakfast with something savoury for DH and DS who would prefer a bacon bap!

We usually have bucks fizz and scrambled eggs with smoked salmon, although the boys wanted waffles and maple syrup last year so we might do a mash up of all of that this year. Except that this year we won't have our usual big family group staying, so it'll be a quiet 6 of us this :-( I'm following this thread as I reckon there will have to be several Christmas breakfasts of 6 to accommodate everyone and it will be nice to have some changes.

@GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER

Bagels with smoked salmon and cream cheese, for the adults anyway. Nice and easy,
Any young children staying will have what they like best, probably Nutella pancakes - also nice and easy.

Perfect!!

No breakfast because eating a big meal later in the day.

My mum does scrambled eggs with double cream in it, sounds disgusting but it's absolutely incredible with salt and pepper and crusty sourdough toast. That and a bucksfizz. Easy on the OJ.

Our tradition since being kids was a Cadbury's selection box for breakfast!

Croissants, smoked salmon and champagne for the adults; croissants, jam and chocolate milk for the kids :)

We have blinis and sour cream with fizz and orange juice. Just one small glass as I'm a massive light weight. Then normally a mince pie at some point. Then for actual vtea pastries and nice bread both cheese, and anti padyi for me and cold meats for my partner.
We ate lunch later on last year normally would do 1ish but maybe had it at 3ish. So it worked out well.

We only eat two meals on Christmas Day - Breakfast at 11ish, ‘Lunch’ at 5pm.

Breakfast is waffles, bacon, maple syrup, squirty cream and blueberries. Yum.

@Georgyporky

Nothing extra special, but Xmas dinner is at 20.00 - as usual.

Never understand why people have dinner at lunchtime on Xmas day, or Sundays, when dinner is at dinner time the rest of the year.

It one of the only days I eat breakfast.

We have croissants on their own or with bacon or pain au chocolate with coffee/tea and the option to have a prosecco or bucksfizz. Sometimes one of the adult kids wants a morning baileys instead.
To be honest the only reason I eat anything is so I can have a glass of prosecco!

If the kids want they eat chocolate etc but apart from that we don't eat again until

We eat about 3ish if we have it too late none of us end up eating dessert as every year we're too full until later!
We don't have an evening meal but normally about 8ish we can finally fit in dessert.

Usually bacon butties. Chocolate brioche for small ones. We've had lots in blankets on bagels before. Pre kids bucks fizz, now orange with lemonade Grin

And about half a pound of festive themed chocolate.

I want eggs benedict now. Not for Christmas, immediately.

Love Christmas breakfast.

I normally do crumpets with cream cheese, scrambled eggs and smoked salmon with Mimosa’s and baileys coffees, plus the copious amounts of chocolate going around and satsumas.
I’m looking at other's suggestions though and homemade cinnamon buns sound amazing (made the night before not that morning, who can be arsed with that!)
Like the idea of warmed up pain au chocolat too.

Growing up our Christmas breakfast was chocolate from selection boxes or tins of Roses 😂

I tend to not have anything & give DH & DS brioche or danish pastries & hot chocolate but if my Mum's coming early enough I do sometimes crack a bottle of bubbly and whip us up some fresh smoked mackarel pate to have on white bread toast. It's our fave.

If you have a local farm shop with a freezer section they tend to have ready to bake pastries that you prove overnight then bake fresh. 1005 better than shop bought and a real treat.
