Morning. Welcome to our new thread.

We maybe have rain today. I really hope we do! I have no ides when we last had it.

I'm baking with the kids today plus potting some plants on. Exciting. No idea where they'll go, mind you!

Only 2 days left of furlough. Yaaay for the financial side and booooo otherwise! 😂

Mrs Breathe and count to 10 . Sometimes you cannot win. !

I am waiting to see my DParents again after LockDown but I know everything I tidied will be all over the place and she'll ask me where XYZ piece of fabric is , one that picked about , she said she was going to sew , but never got round to,

Answer : you cannot sew , you cannot even hold a fork. And it's gone to recycling .
She swears that she's going to sew a jacket (really heavy fabric) it's been in a box for over 3 years , kicking about far longer .
She cannot physically sew it and even in the unlikely case of her doing so, she won'r wear the bloody coat . Xmas Confused

I made some steamed syrup puddings last week, delicious . I have no flour , cannot order any , none in stock. Not a huge problem at the moment but I do miss just being able to rustle up some cakes . (No Stork either , cake isn't cake without Stork)

Peeing down here , I was at work, could only watch outside through the windows .

NoWordForFluffy · 28/04/2020 18:22

It's so cold...we've had to put the heating back on! 😱 🥶 It's very dark too. We've had steady, very light, rain all day but not the downpour yet. Apparently it is coming though.

Mrs, just ignore your mum and Bob. What a pair they are!

We've had a veggie curry feast tonight. I'm officially stuffed! There's a mushroom one, a lentil one and a sweet potato one. 🐷

70, I love a steamed syrup sponge! 😋😋 With custard, obvs.

I've potted my courgettes, pumpkins and 3 cucumbers on this afternoon. They should be a bit happier now!

Mmm, your curry feast looks lovely, Fluffy. We've had jacket potatoes. DH and DS had theirs with peas and salmon pretty sure DS fed his salmon to the cat, who's been hyper since, but he ate the peas so I'm not picking that fight today, I had shredded chicken in lemon pepper mayonnaise with salad, and have leftovers for lunch tomorrow (assuming I haven't totally gone off it by tomorrow, like I do with everything else!).

And WE HAVE RAIN!! Woohoo! Grin

70 is there a bakery anywhere near you that might have some? I'm quite rural, but the local farm shop is still selling flour. Otherwise, people have had success in international shops.

MrsM deep breaths... Grin

most those are the best types of cakes! I always make them for parties - the adults are usually fighting off the kids to claim them!

Themostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 28/04/2020 19:09

We had sweet potato and egg curry for dinner :)

Sorry to hear that you had a bad day Mrs :(

Mrsmadevans · 28/04/2020 19:29

Woah !! Your curry feast looks lovely, Fluffy Grin well done !
Excellent work with the potting too Grin
We've had to put the heating back on as well ! 😱😱😱😱
Bob had to have his oil tank refilled , he said he has never done it before it has always lasted till Sept , but he has been in the house with Mum for 5 weeks, with it on most of the time , which l don't feel bad about because he would have had to have it on for himself being in lockdown & Mum has paid for all the food, even the prawns & Felix for the cats Grin
70 Steamed syrup puds sound delicious , l can imagine gorgeous!!
I really felt like sceaming there today. What with the sodding phone bleeping all the time it was like it was building to a crescendo . Torture l tell you absolute BLOODY torture. I so understand your frustration! Flowers
Fire thank you for listening Smile your tea sounds delicious too , l love Salmon ! How are you feeling & how long till your scan now? It can't be long am thinking Flowers
Most sweet potato and egg curry sounds delicious , have never had it !
Thank you m'dear it's same old same old , just some days it really gets to you , the phone was the deciding factor , it was so annoying ! Grin

NerosFiddle · 28/04/2020 20:23

Mrs oil prices are at an all time low.

Fluffy looks lovely. Might make a curry tomorrow.

70 I love a wee steamed pud. I'm with fluffy though and say it needs custard.

I have also never had a sweet potato and egg curry most.

Fire, I was nearly dancing in the rain earlier. I loves it.

Boots, glad you got everything in morrisons. Still shortages here. Ive no eggs left and I practically live on eggs. And I'm really craving a scotch egg now because I know I can't make them.

Hope I didn't miss anyone out.

I'm having a nice relaxing bath now and listening to a podcast. I'm up to high doe because we hear if ds got into a school tomorrow. It's done by post and sometimes ours doesn't come to near 4 so I'll be curtain twitching most of the day.

WreckTangled · 28/04/2020 20:40

I love curry but don't like eggs or mushrooms. I've just put some chicken in the fridge to marinade for a tandoor chicken salad for dinner tomorrow.

DH cut ds' hair tonight. It's not too bad. Needs to be shorter at the back but we're not confident enough to blend it.

Bleurgh. Life is crap right now. The dc are annoying me no end too. Work is shit too. There's nothing for us to do so we're being given all the shit admin jobs that have been hanging around for years because no one wants to do them.

Themostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 28/04/2020 20:53

We usually have it with paneer and that is definitely my preference but egg was nice too.

Sorry to hear things are tough wreck :( at the moment I am transferring files from one folder to another. At least as it is mindless I can listen to my audio books!

Mrsmadevans · 28/04/2020 21:00

Nero thank you m'dear l didn't realise about the oil prices Grin
We have shortages of eggs/flour/cat food here too, at least for the c&c deliveries that is. Keeping everything crossed for you re the school for Ds & hope you get some eggs soon Smile
Wreck* it's a poor show for us all atm. l think we just have to get our heads down and keep going, put in for every job you can l reckon! As for the admin , go slow and put the radio on and listen to Popmasters of a morning Ken cheers me up no end Grin

WreckTangled · 28/04/2020 21:18

I love paneer! I like all curry. I have it with roasted cauliflower cooked in some curry paste and oil. So tasty.

Mrs they had loads of eggs in Waitrose yesterday. I made banana and oat muffins this afternoon.

Mrsmadevans · 28/04/2020 21:33

Roasted cauliflower is one of my faves Wreck . I haven't stepped foot in a shop for over 5 weeks Wreck none of us have . We are all too scared . Banana and oat muffins SOUND DELISH!

FireflyGirl · 28/04/2020 22:58

Mmm, I love roasted cauliflower. Not sure if I could stomach it at the moment though. Am also a fan of everything curry, it's usually on the menu once a week in some form or other.

I'm very odd - I love pretty much all fruit except bananas! Can't stand them Envy I use them when I bake to stop me eating whatever we've made. DS and I made banana flapjack yesterday (mostly because it doesn't need flour!).

We made the Hummingbird Bakery oat and sultana raisin cookies last week, but they came out more like mini cakes than cookies. I don't know if it was because I had to use dairy free spread rather than butter. They tasted nice, though, so didn't go to waste Grin

Gin Wreck, here's hoping your week picks up.

My scan is on Thursday, MrsM. Getting a bit nervous now. And also thinking how sad, that I'm dreading it when it should be such an exciting time.

pussycatinboots · 29/04/2020 06:27

Nero If I thought that Parcel Farce could get them to you I'd post you some eggs...but I suspect you'd end up with a big, mostly empty, eggy box of shells.
Mrs Have you tried Pets at Home delivery for the cat food? We got some and some litter, it just took a little longer to arrive. I hope you've calmed down a bit now. Poor Bob Grin
Firefly
Wreck DH is beginning to resemble a yeti dragged both ways through a hedge - he absolutely will NOT let me near him with scissors Grin

pussycatinboots · 29/04/2020 06:48

Fluffy is there any cake left? quite proud of myself for breaking t'internet with the last fred Grin
most I've not done those for years... why ??!!?!?! I might have to get some more chocolate first, and hide it from DH.
70 I had a similar issue with my mum and her knitting. I gave up eventually...pick your battles and leave her to crack on
Firefly forgot to ask, how is DCat this morning after his sneaky fish supper? Grin Charlie is jealous even though he and Tilly had a the best pickings of a roast chicken

NoWordForFluffy · 29/04/2020 07:28

Morning! It seems like another grey day today. I think it's dry for now though. I'm not sure we got our downpour last night, but slow and steady was probably better as the heavy rain would've bounced off the parched ground. Gentle rain has wet it, ready for the heavier stuff!

Boots, there's loads of cake left! I was too stuffed from the curry feast to have any (we did have stewed rhubarb though!).

Firefly, some dairy free spreads make biscuity things puff up. I've no idea why. We buy vegetable oil baking blocks for baking now and save spread for sandwiches etc!

We've had no issues getting eggs from Aldi. Even Sainsbury's had some yesterday morning. I buy a box when I see them so we always have at least 1.5 boxes (15 per box!).

DS won't let us near his hair. He's got a cowlick at the front which gets more hilarious as his hair gets bigger. Poor sod. But he's determined not to be shorn.

pussycatinboots · 29/04/2020 08:03

It rained quite heavily here. DH is officially banned from using the hose for the rest of the week at least, and I've hidden the watering can Grin
Going to do lasagne for lunch, so might as well stew the apples ready for tomorrows crumble while I'm tethered to the kitchen.

WreckTangled · 29/04/2020 08:05

It was sunny as I was driving into work but has clouded over now. Blah.

NoWordForFluffy · 29/04/2020 08:23

We don't stew crumble apples, we just bung chopped apples in and bury them!

I'm going to investigate the water butt level shortly, that will tell me how much it rained!

NerosFiddle · 29/04/2020 08:25

Morning.

I've been up half the night thinking about ds school letter. He then came into our room at 5 this morning saying he had a sore tummy.

Boots I think that you're right. I used to work for the post office and I know how parcel force/RM handle stuff.

Wreck it's sunny here now but according to the weather app were to get really heavy rain around 1.

Fluffy I'm the same. I normally buy 2 12 boxes of eggs a week.

Fire when I had ds for the 1st trimester all I could stomach was tomato soup. I couldn't look at it now. I actually think I've an developed an intolerance to it.

Away to stare out the window now.

FireflyGirl · 29/04/2020 09:04

MrsM you might be able to get cat food from Amazon, if you know anyone with a Prime account?

I don't think I can help with the eggs. We've got some from the veggie box our friend brings every week, but we don't really eat them, which is why I've been doing more baking.

Fluffy I've got some Trex, so will try that next. They tasted fine, but just did not look at all like cookies Confused

NoWordForFluffy · 29/04/2020 09:13

Our gingerbread men puffed up with one spread. They looked most odd! The texture was more pillowy too!

Butt update: butt 1 seems relatively full but butt 2 hasn't filled at all (overflow from butt 1). So we didn't have that much rain!

Neros, I hope your postie is early today. Abs that you get your preferred school. What's the system where you are?

OP posts:
Themostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 29/04/2020 09:24

Good luck Nero!

It has started raining here again.

BiddyPop · 29/04/2020 10:55

OOh, shiney new thread!

Sorry, life has been, well, life, recently, and I haven't been much fun. But things are starting to get somewhat under control now. I actually managed to do some relaxing sewing (cross stitch on my book marks project) over the weekend. The initial sewing I did was making facemasks for our household, and DPs and DMIL. But I think, potentially, I may get around to some of my UFOs (and materials for unstarted projects) if we continue as I suspect we will. Like reusable shopping bags, and Christmas pjs (well, probably just bottoms at this stage as she's grown since I bought the material) for DD (I'll buy a plain tshirt for on top - which will match most of her current "pjs" anyway!).

I hope you are all keeping well, and those around you. I'm going to take a walk in the rain when I stop for lunch, it should be nicely quiet.

CrazyBaubles · 29/04/2020 11:38

Glad you all liked the ending to the last thread - I enjoyed browsing google for the Christmas pics. I think you ended the thread brilliantly with the extra post puss Xmas Smile

Your cake looked lovely Fluffy - was it delicious?

MrsMad I hope your day is better today!

Wreck I've been meaning to try roasted cauliflower since you mentioned it on the previous thread and still haven't got around to it and I'm assuming frozen cauliflower cheese doesn't count

Good luck Neros

Welcome back Biddy 👋 Please post a pic of your projects as you go along, I love watching them come along!

It rained a little overnight but it's pouring down now. We've also put the heating back on and when I get out of the bath I'll be putting on a jumper 🥶

No big plans for today except training courses for work. I feel rubbish (cramps) so will be taking it easy I think. Am also determined to finish my Christmas tree today - I need to sew the pieces together and add the beads, hopefully it won't take too long.

NerosFiddle · 29/04/2020 13:10

Ds got into our first choice!
Post hasn't arrived yet but because of everything that's going on the education authority let you look for midday online.

Who even knows if schools will be back open in September.

I was going to make a curry tonight after you all talking about it last night but might make ds favourite, chicken burrito instead.
