Afternoon.

Here we go again! It feels slightly bonkers setting off again before today is over, but it's tradition, so who am I to argue?!

@Mumbassa all 3 of mine started swimming lessons in infant school but probably Yr1/2 (eldest 2 are adults now so the details are lost in the midst of time Grin).

Both DDs did ballet and tap - DD1 from 5 after she saw two of her friends in a show and DD2 from 3 because that's the earliest age the ballet school would take her. They danced until they were doing A levels. They've both done amateur dramatics too but only started that as teenagers.

DS started karate at 6 and is still going reluctantly now he's a teenager and is a high standard for his age. The club take them from 5. He also did football training with a local club from Yr2 to Yr6.

TheWoollybacksWife · 21/01/2020 08:39

mist of time. Bloody tiny phone keyboard and auto fill and autocorrect. It changed ballet school to bakery school but I spotted that.

Good luck with the garage Fluffy. I hope (for their sake) you don't have to go all legal on them.

Mumbassa · 21/01/2020 09:25

Aww mrs I might have to get myself that baby elephant🐘

flouncy your cat is gorgeous, and I’m not generally a cat fan. I’m a sucker for a ginger cat though.

wooly thank you! Did you find DD1 struggled joining ballet at age 5 and I know some start quite young?. Was she able to catch up with things that had already been taught?. Sorry for all the questions, just worried that DD might be behind.

TheWoollybacksWife · 21/01/2020 09:42

Not at all Mumbassa. They started her in a beginners class anyway and worked in school terms so there were a number of children that started at the same time. Once they had got the hang of the basics they were moved up to the next level (Prelim grade I think). From there progression through the grades was by exams so she moved up when she was ready. I think exam sessions were twice a year so there were always some people moving up and some coming into the class from the grade below. Things slowed down when they did a show (every couple of years) and that allowed people to catch up.

Mrsmadevans · 21/01/2020 09:44

Oh God Woolly you saying about ballet has reminded me about our 2dds they went to ballet class and it was absolutely lovely for us parents , gparents to see ♥️♥️

Mrsmadevans · 21/01/2020 09:47

Mumbassa · 21/01/2020 09:55

Thank you wooly the ballet class near me said they will take her. The term only started yesterday so if I can get her uniform within the week then she can start next week in the beginners class. I’m so excited to tell her when she get’s home from school!.

Aww mrs that’s lovely. I was never much into dance as a kid but I’m getting very excited to see DD try it out. I hope you enjoy looking back on the memories❤️

PJMasksGhekko · 21/01/2020 09:59

Good morning everyone, you are all a bunch of chatter boxes Grin

Ds2 does football with a local team, he's goalkeeper and he's actually very good, he wants to get scouted (don't all 13 year old boys) but not sure how often they look at goalkeepers Grin
Dd1 wants to do something, she's done running, gave it up, swimming, she likes netball so is going to the try outs for the school team.

Glorious sunshine here, but verrrryyyyyyy cold!!

hope you get the car sorted Fluffy, if not good luck to them Grin

Mrsmadevans · 21/01/2020 10:08

PJ 👏😄 good to see you you m'dear. I have to agree with you look out car firm 😂

Mrsmadevans · 21/01/2020 10:11

Only thing is with the ballet the Dds hated it 😄😂
They only told us recently 😂
They didn't say anything to us then because they thought it was compulsory 😂
What are kids like!

WreckTangled · 21/01/2020 10:20

NoWordForFluffy · 21/01/2020 11:27

Apparently it's the alternator. DH walked to the independent garage which specialises in Volvos. Within an hour they'd gone to it, established it wouldn't start, towed it and run the diagnostics. They'd also contacted the warranty company to get the ball rolling with our claim. Amazing service.

They'll price up the job and let us know what the warranty will agree to pay. It needs a battery which we will have to pay. We'll get them to service it too.

The invoice for the service and the new tyres will be sent to the garage with a strongly-worded letter and a request for payment due to the seller's contractual breaches.

Anything extra we have to pay for the alternator will also be claimed.

Our two only do swimming. I didn't want to get into something like dancing!

I’m glad you’ve got it sorted fluffy. I’m a bit scared of you after this now thoughGrin I definitely will remember not to cross you😂

I’ve managed to get DD’s uniform (the perks of living on a high street) so I’m going to surprise her tonight with it. I’m more excited than she will be😂.

NoWordForFluffy · 21/01/2020 13:42

Flouncy, we've always used independent garages, just not this independent one! But as it's a Volvo specialist that's where we went (and it's near to Sainsbury's which is where DH was going!).

We're really impressed (DH was really singing his praises).

Once I've finished with the garage they'll regret crossing us! Oh, apparently one of the shit, cracked, tyres was from an Audi, so he really tried to fuck us over. Big. Mistake.

It's mizzly here. And cold on the hands, but not cold enough for a hat! I went on a stomp round the city centre at lunch time.

Mrsmadevans · 21/01/2020 14:06

Bloody bugger 😜
How very dare he try to get one over on you Fluffy 😠
Glad you have a trusted person now 🤗

I had a lovely dentist as a child which was good as I am a rare phenomenon who had 3 sets of teeth. Had to have gas once and GA once to have adult teeth removed to make room for my 3rd set.
I don't mind going now, just feel uncomfortable when they are so close to my face - I'm the same with the optician.

MrsMad I loved the series using the robot animals last time. I'm a bit of a wildlife geek and love watching animals in the wild.

Mumbassa No dc here but I wish I'd gone to some sort of classes at school. I had no confidence at all by the time I was a teen and think something sporty would have really helped.
I will say, gymnastics has really helped my niece and rugby has helped my nephew - keeps them fit and has built them up (nephew more than niece to be honest).

Fluffy I'm glad you know what the problem is with the car and I have no doubt whatsoever they'll end up paying you what they owe.
Very cheeky with the tyre too. I'm a little bit worried for the sales garage manager!

I am having a tough day in work. Not sure why, just lots of little urgent things coming up stopping me getting stuck into what I actually need to do. Today is going to be wasted fire fighting and my work will be waiting for me tomorrow

WreckTangled · 21/01/2020 15:14

Ah crazy thank you so much! Made my day! ThanksThanksThanks

Lord fluffy how twatty cheeky of him!

crazy I was the same, I didn’t like being away from DM so never did any extra curricular activities and I regret it now I’m older. DH did rugby, he’s very built now, he was quite good at it but other than that neither of us are very talented in regards to sport. I’ve just googled 3 sets of teeth, that’s crazy!

I cannot hack the opticians. I’m starting to think I’m just a huge wuss😂.
