Afternoon.

Here we go again! It feels slightly bonkers setting off again before today is over, but it's tradition, so who am I to argue?!

I thought we would finally find out what happened on the fishing trip, was very disappointed when we didn’t

I've never fancied it, flouncy! We've watched Bake Off on +1 and First Dates!

Welcome! @Someaddedsugar

I only started watching Gavin and Stacey recently and thought it was hilarious. I must admit this one wasn’t as funny, was more about being sentimental I think.

See I am so glad we didn't find out about the fishing trip because nothing can ever live up to how much it has been hyped up so they can never reveal it. Surely they have to do another episode now though after that ending?!

ThatsMySantaHisBeardIsSoFluffy · 26/12/2019 07:02

Morning!

Mrs, I think there's a tendency to lose count / repeat a day etc during the year. I'll do a reset at some point if it's needed (it will be!).

Cake pops are a recent phenomenon I think. Bit faddy!

I still have a sore throat, but it's not developing into much, thankfully. Though maybe that would get rid of it? 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️

Oh, and that was a miserable cow you encountered, Crazy (the non-furry Highland coo!). I'm glad you tried to make the mum feel better. Xmas Smile

CrazyBaubles · 26/12/2019 10:32

Thank you Fluffy. I felt a bit awkward approaching the mum but the kids made it easy as they were stood right next to us so I started talking to them first.

Firefly & MrsMad I was speechless when DH revealed my gift. I'm so surprised, I never had so much of a whiff of his plan!

We are Gavin & Stacey fans here so watched it yesterday. If anyone is going to start watching, you have to start at the beginning.
It's a bit silly and some of the "where to you going / now in a minute" lines are overdone but it's funny and so many of the characters are like people I know 😂

We had a lovely lie in followed by a cooked breakfast. Plan for today is to have a drive around and explore Mull (we only went for a short walk yesterday afternoon).

Hope everyone is having a great Boxing Day!

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 26/12/2019 13:36

Ooh nice New Thread ....settles in.

During the year, whenever I remember, I'll get the odd £50 note out of the Nationwide and not leave it til the last minute when all the £50s have run out
DS has a December birthday , we always used to give him a £50 mote and he loved them. He never spent it though (and a load of places won't take them) . It got really difficult finding a nice crisp note though .
We used to recycle and put £50 in his bank then give him the same £50 note for Christmas (he never twigged) Xmas Grin

This year , I gave him a book with £10 notes in the pages (£100 ) his little face was Xmas Confused till he realised . (Ha!)

My haggard old carcass has decided to gift me with acid reflux Hmm to add to everything else . I've discovered I cannot eat peanut butter without it causing me pain.
Fried food is doing the same so I only had a couple of roasties yesterday and a few chips on Tuesday and crucially , not to eat food late at night .Seemed to work but I still had very slight bleurgh stomach .

DH said "Buy Gaviscon" (which I might for emergencies) but I think I need to listen to my innards and this will be a New Resolution that I will need to adhere to.
I don;t ear a lot of fatty food TbH, but I've noticed when I do , it is grim. (I used to have heartburn in pregnancy , I don;t want to revisit that)

Family Tradition homemade pizza for Boxing Day , going to try Paul Hollywood's dough recipe (then if it goes Pete Ting I can blame him Xmas Grin )

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 26/12/2019 13:37

Pete Tong that should be

JoGose · 26/12/2019 13:45

Afternoon all, we had turkey sandwiches for lunch today, was delish. I’ve spent the day setting up all the toys and finding new homes for them. I’m feeling a bit deflated that it’s all over if I’m honestXmas Grin. But have already got some things in the sale for next year, which has cheered me up a bit

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 26/12/2019 14:18

Jo make a note where you hide the Bargain sales items or you'll spend much of December wracking your brains then going out a re-buying them Xmas Grin

I got a new desk diary (I used it far more last year than the kitchen calendar ) so decided against the calendar this year (saved myself a few £ in Lakeland . Desk diary was £4 in Tiger )
Of course everyone else uses their phones but I'm ancient and not tech (and not glued to my scabby old iPhone 6) !

I used to put a reminder for things like batteries, sticky tape and lightbulbs on the December page to make sure we weren't stuck when the DC opened their presents

ThatsMySantaHisBeardIsSoFluffy · 26/12/2019 14:22

Oh no, 70, if it's not one thing it's another!

Speaking of Pete Tong, I've just ordered the Ibiza Essentials 1999 CD from eBay. I ❤️❤️❤️ that CD and don't have mine anymore!

OP posts:
JoGose · 26/12/2019 14:24

70 I will! Last year I made the mistake of wrapping them all up straight away but not putting labels on them and then I had to unwrap and re wrap them to find out what I’d got. I hope the acid reflux gets better, I get it horribly and it can keep me awake

cryingcatmeme · 26/12/2019 15:22

Started buying for next year’s Christmas too, fragrance and branded toiletries from Boots. Best time to get savings is right after Christmas.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 26/12/2019 15:26

Ah the reflux I can control if I am careful - I don't have a gallbladder so I am really careful with things like cheddar and crisps (the main culprits before it was removed )

The peanut butter is blow though, spoonful of Skippys Crunchy when I think "Mmm fancy something sweet" but No !

New Year Resolution is weightloss so it's a step in the right direction . (Looks for the positives ) Xmas Grin

I might search up the 1999 Ibiza CD , that's the year my DS was born (but I;m more 80s music Blush )

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 26/12/2019 15:28

Jo one year (many years ago) someone on the Christmas threads admitted wrapping up a pair of scissors in the presents and having to search through them all .

I still Xmas Grin when I remember that (as I hide the scissors safely , obvs )

EmrysAtticus · 26/12/2019 15:29

I'm not shopping for next year but DH did nab DS a Christmas Jumper for next year from Next for £4.50! Went two sizes up so he can wear it next year and the year after so a bargain.

ThatsMySantaHisBeardIsSoFluffy · 26/12/2019 15:35

Emrys, I've done that with Next too!

OP posts:
FireflyGirl · 26/12/2019 15:59

I make sure we'll get at least 2 years' wear out of Christmas jumpers, Next or not. I'm not so bothered about Next that I'd go to the sales at crazy-o-clock, though.

Been an interesting day so far. Apparently one of the cats was so grateful for their turkey yesterday they brought us a gift in return.

So, we've spent the day moving everything off the floor and lugging furniture around for The Great Mouse Hunt. Not our traditional Boxing Day activity...

DMIL and DSis are lending us humane traps, and we've shut the cats out while we catch him 🐁!
