Tesco delivery - Mini Disaster!

Anyone else suffer this today?

We have delivery saver so booked slot ages ago. I do a Sainsburys shop for fresh stuff (luckily) so Tesco is all the drinks, random bits like jam and trifle stuff and everyday things like bread, milk, loo roll etc.

Slot booked for 4-5 today. Voicemail at 1.30 from Tesco to say that due to a system failure in store the order has been cancelled! Xmas ShockXmas ConfusedXmas Angry

Cue dash this afternoon to asda after printing my Tesco list off to get the shopping. I couldn't face trying to do it all at sainsburys in the morning with a 2yr old and 5mo baby in tow!

Tesco apologised and have given a £100 'refund' as a goodwill gesture which is nice.

I'm feeling lucky that it's only the 22nd and im on maternity leave so I can just get it sorted without much bother. Feel sorry for anyone who was relying on the online delivery though.

Never happened before, typical it would be the Christmas Shop!

I have a morrisons one due in 30 mins..my email says they have no cheddar or mince pies....MINCE PIES!! it's fucking christmas you bastards...

This is why I go to Ocado. When your order is coming from an actual store there is nothing to stop someone coming in and buying up every last mince pie or whatever.

What are you lot doing to get free gifts? I'm a paid up delivery saver and use them loads but n'er a freebie to be sniffed Xmas Sad

DesolateWaist · 24/12/2016 08:21

I'm away for Christmas so no delivery here.
Is it sad that I am living the Christmas delivery vicariously through this thread?

The last few years we placed orders at a different outlet each year, this year I missed the closing dates decided not to bother and so far, so good. I popped into M&S yesterday and a man standing next to me at one food display said grumpily he'd gone into collect his order and they'd somehow mucked it up and it was nowhere to be found. The shelves seemed to be groaning with food so their stocks were obviously fine, (small consolation to him).

I'm one of the lucky ones - I've just had my Tesco delivery at 9am this morning, bang on time and NO subs. woohoo. I was biting my nails reading this thread yesterday.

PopcornFiend · 24/12/2016 10:47

My Morrisons order is due in a few hours. Checked the order this morning and a few things missing.. bread sauce, gravy, shallots, satsumas, choc Yule log, cheese twists. Some subs offered but no good (Packet bread sauce/gravy instead of fresh, breadsticks instead of cheese twists)

After a mild panic I got the kids in the car and with much trepidation headed to Asda an hour ago. Couldn't believe it, found a parking space straight away, tons of food in the shop (still loads of turkeys, carrots, etc) and got all the missing bits I needed. Hardly any queues at checkout either! Am now back home and happy.

This thread is strangely compelling Xmas Grin Hope everyone gets their deliveries on time, I don't think I could deal with the stress of waiting for it. We already had a lot of the non-perishables and hit M&S, Sainsbury's and Tesco one after the other the night before last for desserts/cheese/pate/dips/fruit and veg/cream etc. and it was remarkably pain-free, we got everything we wanted and none of them were heaving busy. Just about to pick up the turkey, venison, ham and beef from the butcher and bread and milk from local Tesco and that's us done.

ItsNiceItsDifferentItsUnusual · 24/12/2016 13:02

Went into Waitrose this morning...just needed to pick up one thing but the click and collect queue was absolutely HUGE. It definitely would have been quicker for those people to have just done their own shop, poor sods. And it sounded like things were missing, too.

snozzlemaid · 24/12/2016 13:08

FookyNellTheCatsGotTheTurkey Don't know why I got a freebie gift box. I thought it was possibly for delivery saver customers, but maybe not then if not everyone got one. I am a regular customer who has used them weekly for years now.
