Tesco delivery - Mini Disaster!

IamChipmunk · 22/12/2016 22:10

Anyone else suffer this today?

We have delivery saver so booked slot ages ago. I do a Sainsburys shop for fresh stuff (luckily) so Tesco is all the drinks, random bits like jam and trifle stuff and everyday things like bread, milk, loo roll etc.

Slot booked for 4-5 today. Voicemail at 1.30 from Tesco to say that due to a system failure in store the order has been cancelled! Xmas ShockXmas ConfusedXmas Angry

Cue dash this afternoon to asda after printing my Tesco list off to get the shopping. I couldn't face trying to do it all at sainsburys in the morning with a 2yr old and 5mo baby in tow!

Tesco apologised and have given a £100 'refund' as a goodwill gesture which is nice.

I'm feeling lucky that it's only the 22nd and im on maternity leave so I can just get it sorted without much bother. Feel sorry for anyone who was relying on the online delivery though.

Never happened before, typical it would be the Christmas Shop!

All orders in. Few subs returned. DH is nipping out tomoz anyway. V grateful for home delivery even with the stress what with the weather and I might have mentioned my hellish cold

Callmecordelia · 23/12/2016 13:33

My Sainsburys order arrived with a few substitutions. I'll take my larger taste the difference chicken, brandy cream and pack of carrots! Still had to nip out to actual Sainsburys to swap a pair of trousers, but I was sooo pleased not to be doing a food shop. Mayhem.

headinhands · 23/12/2016 13:53

God yeah Callme. Nipped into Tescos last sat for my dad and it was apocalyptic. I pay £3 a month and think it's such a bargain. Been doing it since June. No idea why I didn't do it sooner.

PurpleTraitor · 23/12/2016 13:55

Morrisons brought ours late last night. No subs, all on time.

I've usually got a spare ham joint or large bit of beef in the months prior just in case of a festive mishap so I can always feed the masses even if a turkey doesn't materialise. Then we usually eat that between Christmas and new year

Sunnysky2016 · 23/12/2016 13:58

Have an Ocado shop arriving this evening, and just had an email to say no subs! I'm praying this is right after reading some of people's experiences with other stores......

MaisieDotes · 23/12/2016 14:06

Mine's just arrived, turkey included!

Phew Wine

IamChipmunk · 23/12/2016 14:07

Looks like Tesco struggled yesterday and Iceland not much better.

I finished all the fresh bits in Sainsburys this morning and collected the 3 bird roast and other pre-order bits.

Got home and texted dsis to tell her what cheeses I had got for the Xmas day cheeseboard and realised I had forgotten the brie!! Xmas ShockXmas Angry

Nooooooooooo. She is going to pick some up and bring it on Xmas day!

All done now on the shopping front. Fridge is crammed! Love a Christmas fridge. Xmas Grin

My Sainsbury's order came this morning and was basically fine apart from no milk. Ridiculously, I was simultaneously in my local Sainsbury's doing shop mark 2, so could have dealt with anything missing.

Stubble I can't believe you got told off for checking sell by dates! Naughty M&S.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 23/12/2016 14:43

Waitrose was a horror. I had a gift card that I didn't know the balance of. 0. I only wanted a couple of bits but by gum it was bad. So many people seething with anger for the mere presence of other people's exisistence. Even the staff were all bad tempered whatsits.

MerlinWizzard · 23/12/2016 15:02

Just checked online.. Have around 4 substitutions, one of them being DP's hobgoblin. He's not going to be impressed Blush

PurpleMcPants · 23/12/2016 15:10

Still waiting for my Waitrose delivery, supposed to be before 3...
substitutions are all sensible things, apart from nappies which they are sending smaller ones Confused. Will have to dash out / send dh out for those.

HungryHorace · 23/12/2016 15:22

Why does any supermarket think that smaller nappies are a reasonable substitution? It's a very odd thing to think!

gingercat02 · 23/12/2016 15:24

My Sainsbury's order to MIL was bang on time. One sub (branded goats cheese for ttd goats cheese) and a short date on the pigs in blankets (now frozen)
I do online shopping every week and they never let me down

DoItTooJulia · 23/12/2016 15:25

Oh yeah! All delivered, nothing missing, no subs! Brilliant!

StarsandSparkles · 23/12/2016 15:29

My tesco delivery came this morning minus the pigs in blankets, cornish custard and frosted fancies and they had stacks of the items in store. I cant grumble too much as the £1 scratchcard i ordered to round up my total was swapped for a £3 one and i won £20 on it! Merry christmas to me indeed Xmas Grin

stabbybitchTheXmasWitch · 23/12/2016 15:30

Iv now had a email about my order being delivered tonight confirming 25 subs and 5 out of stock! I'm not too happy.

LucyLocketLostHerPocket · 23/12/2016 15:34

We are apparently the only Tesco delivery in the area to get a Yule Log today but no Christmas pudding (which I'd also ordered)of any kind is available which I find hard to believe having beento the store yesterday and seen shelves heaving with them.
Lots of substitutions and now going through the order which has just been delivered to see what random items have been sent instead. Slightly fed up as my fresh croissants, 2 packs of 6, have been substituted with 4 long life ones yuck. Will have to go to Sainsbury's tomorrow to find some nice ones. Every year I say I'm going to switch supermarkets but don't bother, this may actually be the straw!

DoItTooJulia · 23/12/2016 15:50

Oh no-unpacking the delivery and I have a bag that's not ours. I've called customer services and they tried to get the driver to pick it up but he's too far away. At least it didn't have someone else's turkey or Christmas pudding. Poor sods.

patthecat · 23/12/2016 15:50

This thread is making me slightly nervous, my Sainsburys shop is due between 6pm-7pm tonight.

It's mostly the fresh stuff - veg, cream, bread, buffet foods and Christmas day starters (salmon and crab mousse). However having looked at what I have in the house already - I could cobble together a Christmas lunch if I had to (I have the meat - and pigs and blankets already).

We could go to the village shop tomorrow if something vital doesn't arrive and we have a 24 hour garage 10 minutes drive away if we are really desperate, so we should hopefully be ok!

Cagliostro · 23/12/2016 15:53

Ours was fine - a couple of slightly better subs (doritos for own brand etc). Nothing unavailable.

A friend had their Asda turn up without pigs in blankets. THE HORROR!!!

PurpleMcPants · 23/12/2016 15:57

"Why does any supermarket think that smaller nappies are a reasonable substitution? It's a very odd thing to think!"
I know! Just sub any other brand but the same size.
Delivery won't be until after 5 now Confused

helensburgh · 23/12/2016 15:57

Balls up here curtosy of tesco.
Fruit and veg all best before the next day ..despite saying 1 week online.

Dionysuss · 23/12/2016 16:14

Order arrived in time, nothing missing, no substitutions.

Am slightly upset I didn't get a gingerbread man from the driver like in previous years.

StubbleTurnips · 23/12/2016 16:20

ItsNice yep, was asked why I was routeing about on the shelves, and not to make a mess of them. He was told in no uncertain terms that I want my Christmas dinner on the 25th, not the bloody 22nd - everything was very short date in m&s.

I'm 41w pregnant - he was lucky to survive tbh!

delilahbucket · 23/12/2016 16:31

Sainsburys been with only one sub, the toilet roll. Dates all seem ok.
