Tesco delivery - Mini Disaster!

Anyone else suffer this today?

We have delivery saver so booked slot ages ago. I do a Sainsburys shop for fresh stuff (luckily) so Tesco is all the drinks, random bits like jam and trifle stuff and everyday things like bread, milk, loo roll etc.

Slot booked for 4-5 today. Voicemail at 1.30 from Tesco to say that due to a system failure in store the order has been cancelled! Xmas ShockXmas ConfusedXmas Angry

Cue dash this afternoon to asda after printing my Tesco list off to get the shopping. I couldn't face trying to do it all at sainsburys in the morning with a 2yr old and 5mo baby in tow!

Tesco apologised and have given a £100 'refund' as a goodwill gesture which is nice.

I'm feeling lucky that it's only the 22nd and im on maternity leave so I can just get it sorted without much bother. Feel sorry for anyone who was relying on the online delivery though.

Never happened before, typical it would be the Christmas Shop!

Stubble he sounds a very brave stupid man.

Unfortunately I didn't think to check sell by dates until halfway through my shop so I've got a very clear divide now as to what I'll be eating first Blush. No problem rummaging on Sainsbury's shelves, I think that was the least of their worries given I spotted some discarded sausages hanging out in the bleach section.

recklessgran · 23/12/2016 16:51

Ocado order here due between 5.30 and 6.30pm, [£240 Eek!]
Of this, I am apparently getting Typhoo tea bags instead of PG Tips and one small Paxo instead of a large.[Not sure why I can't have two small Paxo in place of the large and NO PG Tips-odd.]
Otherwise all present and correct.
Love Ocado and SO grateful! Feel sorry for the delivery drivers who without fail are lovely.

Tesco delivery has arrived - all food and drink for all Christmas meals with the only two substitute were for larger sizes. I use Tesco's online delivery each week , sometimes twice and their delivery drivers are great - bring all the crates right into the kitchen.

PurpleMcPants · 23/12/2016 17:14

Still waiting for our delivery 😟

TheInimitableMrsFanshawe · 23/12/2016 17:19

Our Sainsburys delivery is due between 8-9. I've done Christmas deliveries for a few years now, it's always been absolutely fine. Watch it all go to shit this year Grin

Meat has already been collected from the butchers and we need to go to Sainsbury's quickly (ha!) tomorrow anyway to collect the stuff I've ordered ready made for Boxing Day so we can get anything essential that's missed then.

YouAndMeAreGoingToFallOut · 23/12/2016 17:23

My Sainsburys order has arrived. All fine, except the stuffing, which was substituted with a non-gluten free alternative. So I'll have to nip up to M&S tomorrow and get some from there instead.

GizmoFrisby · 23/12/2016 17:33

Got my Sainsbury's delivery. Only 1 substitute- small prawns instead of large prawns. I'm happy with that

iminshock · 23/12/2016 17:37

Good grief I wouldn't be complaining !! 😬

WellErrr · 23/12/2016 18:00

Mine is coming between 8 and 9. I'm nervous!!

Sweets101 · 23/12/2016 18:23

Well my waitrose delivery arrived, all present and correct. EXCEPT I appear to have ordered a mini feast for an Elf. Just the one mind. I have 1 mini can of coke, 1 miniature bottle of Bucks Fizz (didn't even know there was such a thing!) 1 carrot etc.
But 24 pints of milk!!! What the hell was I thinking? Currently drinking my sup of bucks Fizz straight from the bottle and contemplating a quite visit to Tesco. BALLS!

Sweets101 · 23/12/2016 18:25

And only 1 tub of double cream! It will never do Sad

harderandharder2breathe · 23/12/2016 18:50

Asda has been! Only things missing completely were parsnips and chestnuts but I'd been refreshing the updates all day so got those before the greengrocers shut for the day. Couple of subs (£1 sprouts for 20p sprouts, one schloer for another, but nothing major). Got an upgraded box of chocs though

PurpleMcPants · 23/12/2016 18:53

Finally arrived! Poor man was ever so apologetic and stressed out. Realised I have forgotten to order mince pies though. 😞

FookyNellTheCatsGotTheTurkey · 23/12/2016 19:30

Lovely Tesco driver turned up 15 minutes early, very cheery but NO BLOODY BRUSSELS WITH BACON! Xmas Shock

Janey50 · 23/12/2016 19:39

All I can say is WOW Xmas Shock if Tesco have given you £100 as a gesture of goodwill on top of a refund for the order OP! In my considerable experience with Tesco over the years, they will rarely admit that they are in the wrong about anything, and will fight tooth and nail not to give refunds, let alone goodwill gestures. That is why I gave up on Tesco a few years back and go to Morrison's now. 5 years ago,I had a Christmas delivery on 23rd December. I had ordered 6 x 6 packs of DIET coke. They sent me 6 x 6 packs of the non-diet one. When I phoned them to complain, they grudgingly admitted that they had sent the wrong thing, and only after arguing with them, would they refund me for them. Refused to bring out a replacement or give me a 'gesture of goodwill'.

patthecat · 23/12/2016 19:42

Phew, shopping has arrived. Only 3 substitutions: one type of crisps for another and one type of salami for another - both fine. But DH was most disappointed about not having any Elizabeth Shaw mints - which were changed for After 8's instead.

I am relieved that I don't have to go shopping tomorrow and can relax with a glass of wine now! Wine

GloGirl · 23/12/2016 19:44

24 pints of milk! Shock

Maybe have a luxurious bath tonight, have a little pamper? Grin

Janey50 · 23/12/2016 19:44

And Tesco used to piss me off with their substitutions. For example,if I ordered a 12 pack of their own-brand toilet roll, and they had run out, instead of substituting 3 x 4 packs of their own brand, they would replace it with a 12 pack of a brand name (e.g. Andrex) which cost half as much again. Kept doing this until I complained.

TheInimitableMrsFanshawe · 23/12/2016 19:51

Driver turned up an hour and ten minutes early, only inconvenient because we were in the middle of doing bedtime. But all present and correct. Perfect!

Prettybaffled · 23/12/2016 20:01

We are staying with extended family this Christmas who do it the old fashioned way. But am loving this thread!

Good luck to everyone waiting Smile

HerodZackHunt · 23/12/2016 20:06

Driver 20 minutes early which was fine. My favourite one too as he's very sweet. One substitution which was actually acceptable and for post Christmas.
So well done Sainsburys Xmas Smile

sleepyMe12 · 23/12/2016 20:19

Sainsburys came ten mins early, all correct only problem was that I ordered the wrong Buck's Fizz Blush.
Huge weight has been lifted.
Merry Christmas!

nicp123 · 23/12/2016 20:24

Shocking!
£100 ?
I have only received an online £10 goodwill voucher for next time!

IamChipmunk · 23/12/2016 20:24

Janey they did indeed. I think call centre lady who rang was probably greatful to get my answer machine and not to have to actually tell me!

Pleased most people's orders have worked out fine!

OP posts:
IamChipmunk · 23/12/2016 20:27

nicp yes they have credited us with £100 to apologise and as a gesture of goodwill. It's roughly the amount of the shop, don't know if that had any bearing...
