Tesco delivery - Mini Disaster!

Anyone else suffer this today?

We have delivery saver so booked slot ages ago. I do a Sainsburys shop for fresh stuff (luckily) so Tesco is all the drinks, random bits like jam and trifle stuff and everyday things like bread, milk, loo roll etc.

Slot booked for 4-5 today. Voicemail at 1.30 from Tesco to say that due to a system failure in store the order has been cancelled! Xmas ShockXmas ConfusedXmas Angry

Cue dash this afternoon to asda after printing my Tesco list off to get the shopping. I couldn't face trying to do it all at sainsburys in the morning with a 2yr old and 5mo baby in tow!

Tesco apologised and have given a £100 'refund' as a goodwill gesture which is nice.

I'm feeling lucky that it's only the 22nd and im on maternity leave so I can just get it sorted without much bother. Feel sorry for anyone who was relying on the online delivery though.

Never happened before, typical it would be the Christmas Shop!

I have a morrisons one due in 30 mins..my email says they have no cheddar or mince pies....MINCE PIES!! it's fucking christmas you bastards...

OK not a tragedy but mince pies!

*walks off shaking head in disbelief. ....

My ASDA delivery came early last night - first time I had used it. Unfortunately though the guy who delivered it stacked all the crates up at the front door and when he saw how heavily pregnant I am felt a tad guilty that he couldn't get past them to help me unload everything!

Only disaster was the Yule log on the ottom crate completely smashed up - gutted.

I didn't risk ordering the turkey as heard too many horror stories so bought that in another store direct.

Ptolemie · 23/12/2016 07:10

Tesco delivery yesterday, on time and only a couple of substitutions.

Myfanwyprice · 23/12/2016 07:13

I'm expecting Tesco and Iceland deliveries this morning, never used Iceland before or know of anyone who has so don't know if there's likely to be lots of substitutions.

Had a look at my Tesco order, and it says that the gammon, crackers and kitchen roll were out of stock, hopefully I'll get decent substitutions from them. . .

PurpleMcPants · 23/12/2016 07:19

Nervously awaiting a Waitrose order this afternoon! Hope everything is there because I don't have the energy to get round a shop at the moment.

user1467798821 · 23/12/2016 07:24

I've had an email from Iceland at 1am to cancel the order I made last week to arrive today. Can't wait for 8am to speak to customer services!

amysmummy12345 · 23/12/2016 07:31

This thread is gripping! No order for here but I'm place marking for nosiness 😁

jelly10 · 23/12/2016 07:34

Our Tesco shop arrived yesterday evening, just a couple of subs but nothing major. Didn't want one of them so the driver said to keep it for free! Getting the slot booked a few weeks ago was no problem either - I don't have a delivery saver so thought I'd struggle the get a good slot but booked it the day they were released and it was fine Smile
Got the cheese from the deli and ham and sausages from the butcher yesterday, just got to collect the turkey from M&S first ting tomorrow...

Bohemond · 23/12/2016 07:34

I didn't risk it and went to Sainsbury's at 6am. Was a bit of a jostle with all of the home delivery shopping going on at the same time but got out within an hour. I think some people will be disappointed as there were quite a few obvious things not on the shelves.

thedishonthecoffeetable · 23/12/2016 07:40

Myfanwy if they say out of stock you don't usually get substitutions, not sure about the Xmas orders they might be different. The email usually tells you the substitutions then lists out of stock items. I had an order a few weeks ago where the store apparently had no potatoes at all Confused

Bythepath · 23/12/2016 07:41

My tesco delivery came yesterday. Everything was delivered, only substitute was a finest Christmas pudding instead of an own brand one. Very pleased after hearing a few disaster stories.

beepbeep · 23/12/2016 07:41

we had our tesco delivery yesterday - unpacking it realising that a lot of the stuff wasn't mine - a large gammon, 2 big packs of smoked salmon, 30 finest sausages, 5 packs of butter, black pudding, 6 packs of finest bacon amongst a lot of other stuff!

They also substituted a pack of 8 AA batteries for 4 packs of 4!

Contacted about all the stuff that wasn't mine and they said to keep it as they are so busy and they would make sure the person who had things missing got a second delivery. Bonus - there must have been at least £60 worth of stuff! Thanks Tesco!!

Sundaysmumisfullofwine · 23/12/2016 07:42

Ocado order was spot on for Christmas Day food last night (and was early), Tesco booze order is due later I'm hoping for some decent subs as a nice treat :)

TrashPanda · 23/12/2016 07:42

Mine came Wednesday from Tesco, on time with 2 acceptable subs, raspberry for strawberry trifle and a different brand of ice-cream, bit 2x12 chipolatas subbed with 1x10 sausages so sent them back. Mum's is due today from Tesco between 11-12 and has a lot more fresh stuff as were going there so mine was mainly snacks, pudding and drinks. Hope it's OK, waiting to hear from her.

We have plenty of supermarkets nearby so can pick up bits if needed but DH is still at work and I'm home (and ill) with 3 children in tow so no chance of doing a proper shop without the online delivery. Fingers crossed for later.

errorofjudgement · 23/12/2016 07:54

Tesco order arrived on time and in full yesterday - though the driver did say we were the only delivery that day with absolutely no substitutions.
(Probably because I've read too many horror stories on here over the years so I bought most of the fresh stuff separately).

delilahbucket · 23/12/2016 07:55

Awaiting mine from sainsburys later today. Getting the turkey from our local butcher so no worries there but could really do with not having to visit another supermarket. They're usually very good with few substitutions so fingers crossed!

BernardsarenotalwaysSaints · 23/12/2016 08:02

My tesco shop was fine, amazingly. I was panicking as I checked it in the morning & it said Christmas pud & streaky bacon were out of stock but they arrived. The only substitutes were 2 packs of 4 croissants rather than 1 pack of 8 & 2 jars of mayo rather than 1 big one.

StealthPolarBear · 23/12/2016 08:02

" FenellaMaxwell

We got our ocado delivery yesterday.... All fine with the human food but the dog food had to be substituted. Instead of sending us another brand of dog food, they've substituted it with the same brand of cat food."
Shock utter common sense fail

StealthPolarBear · 23/12/2016 08:03

If you get a load of stuff that isn't yours around this time of year and get told to keep it, doesn't a load of it go to waste though?

StealthPolarBear · 23/12/2016 08:04

I remember running around a few different large supermarkets once on the 24th, all were out of carrots. I only needed it for rudolph :)

Wiifitmama · 23/12/2016 08:07

We normally have Ocado deliveries but are away for Christmas in Edinburgh where they don't deliver. So I booked a Waitrose delivery instead for the day we arrived (Wednesday) including all our Christmas food. We are in a holiday flat so needed quite a lot! Although we had a few substitutions, they were all sensible and there was nothing that was cancelled completely. Our turkey arrived, everything is within date and the nice driver helped carry it all up the 4 massive flights of stairs (tenement building on the Royal Mile and we are right at the top!). And, I have received a £31 refund form waitrose for no reason I can find at all!

Hulababy · 23/12/2016 08:18

Ocado due tonight at 10pm.
Awaiting a message to see what is coming.

Used then the past two years on the same day and all arrived and often a bit early.

Used to use Waitrose as free (Ocado is £9.99 even when you have a delivery pass) but not once in three years did they manage to deliver properly - twice they didn't deliver at all and I had to go and pick it up from the store myself; other time it was delivered the following day on Christmas Eve and bit everything was there. Nightmare for us as we are always busy and out with family that day.

MarvinKMooney · 23/12/2016 08:18

Shout out for Morrisons - our delivery came 45 mins early!

Everything present and correct ... except that I've since had an email to ask me to chuck one of the desserts as it hadn't been chilled properly in store. Boo.
