Tesco delivery - Mini Disaster!

IamChipmunk · 22/12/2016 22:10

Anyone else suffer this today?

We have delivery saver so booked slot ages ago. I do a Sainsburys shop for fresh stuff (luckily) so Tesco is all the drinks, random bits like jam and trifle stuff and everyday things like bread, milk, loo roll etc.

Slot booked for 4-5 today. Voicemail at 1.30 from Tesco to say that due to a system failure in store the order has been cancelled! Xmas ShockXmas ConfusedXmas Angry

Cue dash this afternoon to asda after printing my Tesco list off to get the shopping. I couldn't face trying to do it all at sainsburys in the morning with a 2yr old and 5mo baby in tow!

Tesco apologised and have given a £100 'refund' as a goodwill gesture which is nice.

I'm feeling lucky that it's only the 22nd and im on maternity leave so I can just get it sorted without much bother. Feel sorry for anyone who was relying on the online delivery though.

Never happened before, typical it would be the Christmas Shop!

Getting nervous reading this, sainsburys being delivered tonight between 8/9.
Iceberg lettuce was not available at checkout but fingers crossed that's it.

Dionysuss · 23/12/2016 09:31

I'm having a Morrisons delivery at 3-4 today. if anything is missing my plan is to send DH.
The supermarkets near me look manic. Yesterday there was a queue off the dual carriageway to get into tesco, and speak of car park brawls in aldi on the local FB page.

Myfanwyprice · 23/12/2016 09:43

Tescos delivery arrived - couple of annoying subs - everyday value orange juice drink for pure juice and pudding rice for ground rice, but actually ok apart from that! Just hope Iceland is as good!

ExplodingCarrots · 23/12/2016 09:43

Just got mine delivered. I must have looked petrified when I opened the door because the delivery man said, 'don't look so scared, it's only one sub'

Finest sausage meat instead of regular. Thanx tesco.

I'm now hugging my turkey and gammon Grin

TheWoodlander · 23/12/2016 09:54

Oh no. I'm now going to spend all day in fear that my delivery booked for 9am tomorrow morning will go wrong Shock

AuntieStella · 23/12/2016 09:54

I watched 'The Good Life' at an impressionable age, when Margot's Christmas was not delivered.

I've never dared have a Christmas grocery delivery.

Non-perishables have been added to the last few Ocado orders (spreads cost too) and I did an actual supermarket run for the rest first thing this morning.

notaflyingmonkey · 23/12/2016 09:55

Delivery came. No veggie dinner, which is a pain. Worst of all though, I'd forgotten to order potatoes. So I now have to walk into town to find some, and lug back the heaviest thing I could have forgotten.

Rachie1986 · 23/12/2016 10:13

Mine came and all ok - a couple of substitutions (breaded ham joint instead of regular, edam slices instead of chunk - sent that back).

However just nearly had a heart attack as I booked a waitrose slot before I got the sainsburys one, just incase, and put 6 bottles of white wine on to check out. You guessed it - never cancelled, and just had an e-mail saying they will deliver today! Thankfully called the store to explain and they have cancelled their end. Phew.

So far so good then :-)

VanillaSugarAndChristmasSpice · 23/12/2016 10:19

Well, I braved Morrison's at 8.30am. Had to queue for petrol and when I came out at 9.20am the car park was full and people were sharking for spaces.

CheeseAtFourpence · 23/12/2016 10:27

Ours arrived but without gravy or cranberry sauce - no mention of it on the order sheet although showing on my original order?! So I'm venturing in to Tesco - and knowing me will probably come out with £60 worth of stuff!

petalpower · 23/12/2016 10:45

My sainsburys order arrived half an hour early at 9.30am (had a 9-10 slot). Only sub was sliced whole meal instead of white bread which I needed for bread sauce.

TawnyPippit · 23/12/2016 10:53

Feeling pretty serene here. Ocado were right on the button yesterday - turned up on the dot of time yesterday evening, no substitutions, all good.

I had ordered a few things for earlier weeks and put them in the freezer etc as we have found in the past that Christmas specific things like cranberries, cocktails sausages/sausage meat, chestnuts can get a bit thin on the ground. DH is getting the meat separately from the butcher (its ordered and ready for collection), and I will need to get a small basket of perishables/adjustments tomorrow morning, but it will be quite simple and not a massive trolleyful.

Ommmm....

GizmoFrisby · 23/12/2016 10:53

I'm awaiting a Sainsbury's order between 4&5

Hoping no substitutes but if there is i can always head out tomorrow and grab any extra bits Xmas Grin

Eva50 · 23/12/2016 11:05

Asda have, twice, failed to deliver my shopping. The first time I was told I could cancel or collect it and the second time it simply didn't appear and nobody seemed to care very much. I was not offered compensation. They aren't getting a third chance.

WicksEnd · 23/12/2016 11:31

I've got Ocado coming 5.30/6.30. Fingers crossed.

Do you tip the driver/delivery person? I think I did last year but can't remember.

Just realised I've not had a text! Aggghhh! Ocado usually text about 'Roger in a cabbage van will be with you @ x '

Shit. It's beans on toast if it doesn't come. No way am I doing the full kabudle on Christmas Eve. Well DH can. I'm not 😬

GingerHollyandIvy · 23/12/2016 12:07

Tesco delivered my order right on time this morning. Only one substitution but it was an upgrade, so no worries. Xmas Grin I'd already gotten a lot of the Christmas nonperishables last week, along with anything I could put in the freezer ahead of time. So if there'd been a problem, we'd have been okay anyway.

HungryHorace · 23/12/2016 12:12

Sainsbury's came this morning. With an entire crate missing, plus a couple of rubbish substitutions. The poor driver was very apologetic.

I went out to our local one and was only out of the house for 50 minutes which was fine.

Just an order to collect from Booths later today and we are sorted!

LBOCS2 · 23/12/2016 12:25

Wicks, I haven't had a text either but I've done my shop through Ocado for the last two Christmases and it's been ok. My app is saying my order (due 9.30-10.30) is ready to leave their delivery hub.

notenoughtogoround · 23/12/2016 12:29

For those waiting for an Ocado text, the last few deliveries I've had, including today's, I haven't had a text until just before my time slot and, if they are early, sometimes after the food has actually been delivered. My Ocado shop arrived right on time this morning with no subs so good luck to everyone!

Heirhelp · 23/12/2016 12:58

I am not hosting Christmas but I do have a salmon terrine to make. I order mince pies, stolen bites and Christmas cake last week from Tesco- they will all subbed with crap versions.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 23/12/2016 13:14

well we do have a lot of potatoes with the veg box order, lots and lots of brussel sprouts, but alarmingly only two parsnips and three carrots.

Myfanwyprice · 23/12/2016 13:19

My Iceland order was a disaster, no starters, pigs in blankets, stuffing balls or desserts - over half the order missing! Just been to Tescos and managed to get it all - that's it now, we're done!

BeauticianNotMagician81 · 23/12/2016 13:24

My Tesco order arrived without range festive cheese which they tried to replace with mini cheddars 🙄. I also ordered some Malibu and a bottle of liquer. The Malibu had leaked out all over the other bottle and everything smelt of coconut. Still some in the bottle though and cap intact. They refunded me for both bottles of drink.
