Mumsnet Christmas Appeal: the thank you thread II

Hello

Follow-on thread from this one.

To quote SecretSantaSandyMumsnet:

So the spreadsheets have been completed, the matches have gone out, all is done. Gin

We're all waiting with bated breath. If you're a recipient and you'd like to pop back on here when your gift arrives to thank your donor then do remember to look out for your MN code which will have been included in the address on the packaging and include it in your post. The person who sent the gift will then be able to know it's you.

If anyone has any questions about anything to do with the Mumsnet Christmas Appeal then do please email [email protected].

Ho Ho Ho!

SS156

I didn't think I would be on here posting my thanks AGAIN! I felt blessed and overwhelmed having two secret santas, and they were both wonderfully generous.

But the door went again today (I was still in bed having a blissful lie in which had turned into a "crap now I am too sore to get out of bed" moment, where I was drifting in and out trying to make a decision.) I hauled my ass out of bed, shouted from the top of the stairs I was coming, then got to the door as quickly as I could, before realising I was just in my pants. Cue trying to sign the recorded delivery thing half round the door. I am pretty sure he saw my granny pants.

So anyway, back to thanking you. I opened the bag to check first, and I got the charger base. I'm completely clueless btw, no idea what it was... I was going in my head oooh a Christmas light thingie maybe. Then the plug. Then the console, and I just stood there with my jaw hanging for a bit thinking, WOW! My son is going to be absolutely off his head with glee, he really loves gaming. And my DD will think that you read her mind, she was asking for similar, and getting very angry that we couldn't afford it (she has special needs, so anger is just the same as upset in this scenario).

The gifts are lovely too, and perfectly suited to both, DD the artist especially. And I am agog that you are still sending me something after all your generosity in the initial parcel.

I have to admit to sobbing. I was really touched to receive this unexpected parcel. Poor Salvation Army guy that knocked shortly later got me in my pants and sobbing, so I think he must have had quite a shock.

Mumsnet and those who sail in her, have made my year this year. So much so that I am devoting my 2013 to doing random acts of kindness, and will be blogging about it too. Thank you, thank you, thank you... Merry Christmas to every single one of you. I hope to be able to brighten someone's year next year. Xmas Grin

Madsometimes : posted this yesterday just before the "old" thread closed", so thought I'd repeat it.

"Finally posted my wee contribution yesterday Xmas Blush

Hope you don't suffer too much from the sugar rush enjoy the home made Scottish speciality. Xmas Smile

I'm told a satsuma helps cleanse the palate so you can eat some more - although I've never tried that theory out 'cos I have such a sweet tooth I can always have "just one more" Xmas Blush

Enjoy!"

Glad you like it! Xmas Smile

Mooandme

Thank you so much for my flowers, they are beautiful and the foliage smells of christmas! Dd was over the moon that they are her favourite colour (which is actually ds1's favourite as well). Xmas Grin

They have pride of place in the centre of the dining table and look absolutely lovely there.

Merry Christmas! Xmas Smile

I am - apparently - MN159 and I have just received an extremely generous gift.

I have no idea who it is from, or what I can possibly have done to deserve it (apart from some bad poetry earlier in the year - it could be a bribe to stop any further poetry ... Grin) and I am in no material "need".

But it made my day. Thank you. For one reason or another I've not spent much time on MN in the last six months, but I will be back, Oh Nest Of Soppy Vipers.

I will also make a donation of equivalent value to Kids Company, in order to honour the donor and cover all bases in case this was a case of mistaken identity and it as meant for a more deserving MumsNetter.

Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Xmas Smile

MN045, a huge thank you for your amazing, overflowing box of presents that came today. It was full of so many wonderful things and we couldn't resist opening them this afternoon when everyone got home.

The boys have been so excited by all their gifts and have spend a very happy afternoon whizzing their cars around the house and have used their cups at supper time tonight.

Your gifts for me are spookily apt- the bracelet matches perfectly with a jumper I got the other day, I 've been thinking about getting a graze box for a while now and the make up is perfect as it's something I never quite get round to buying for myself, oh and the pre fabricated ginger bread house is just lovely. I had intended to make one and have bought all the bits to stick on one but just quite hadn't got round to it (as ever!). It will be a great thing to do over the weekend as well as all the other festive crafty things you sent us.

Thank you to whoever nominated me, I still don't really know why someone thought I was worthy, but thank you anyway, it was very much appreciated.

Thank you to DGG for choosing such fantastic presents, for wrapping them and sending them to us. You are a very kind person and I hope you and your family have a very Merry Christmas x

redrosie I've worked for kids company in the recent past and know your donation will be very much appreciated by the exceptionally vulnerable children and young adults that kids company works with. Thank you for paying it forwards. :)

Redrosie, you are luffly! I'm not you SS or your nomination, but you made me laugh this year with your poems! I am sure it isn't a case of mistaken identity.

Got a poem for us now??

Seriously. Thank you so much to whoever nominated me (although I'm still sure it must be in error!) and to whoever sent this generous gift.

I will indeed pay it forward, as will many others I'm sure.

I'm really hoping my recipient received her parcel. I took it to the post office 2 weeks ago and worried something may have happened. I don't want her to think she's been ignored. Hopefully it has been received safe and well and she's not had chance to come into MN yet.

And of course AnotherSecretSanta117 thanks for the lovely Christmas tree decoration.

I was slightly Xmas Blush because this is the second parcel that I have received this Christmas from a MNer. Actually the third because Breastmilkmakesafablatte also sent me something, but separately from the appeal. Possibly the famous MN spreadsheet has gone wonky this year, because a few of us are double recipients.

So a massive, massive thanks to both my generous donors. The kindness of strangers is such a wonderful thing.

MN187 here.

I literally don't know what to say Blush I picked up a recorded delivery package from the sorting office yesterday (3rd time I've been up there picking bits up this week thanks to my online shopping present spree, of course it was the only time I was asked for ID..."er, what, proving I am "The Mumsnetter of The House? Could be tricky..", I've not opened the lovely wrapped contents yet but thank you so very much, so so generous of you :) I thought that was beyond enough....

Then whilst tidying up earlier, I found an Amazon package amongst the debris on my dining table addressed to the MNer of the house. DP was helpfully vague when I asked when it turned up but thinks it may have been yesterday so sorry if anyone's been waiting for a thank you, but here it is, thank you, thank you, thank you! I have no clue what to put the voucher towards so am going to have a good think instead of being my impulsive self, inspired by someone else upthread who cryptically said their purchase could be life changing, I want to use it for something important too!!

I am terrible with words but hope my nominee/senders know how very very much your thoughts and actions mean to me and little Mud (and DP Mud too, who's thoroughly astounded by the whole thing!) I know I've said it before but count me in for the 2013 appeal, like, now! Thank you again :)

SLATTERN recipient "MN172" here, finally got a moment to sit down and thank you so much for my parcel which arrived this morning Smile
Gosh even the postage cost made my eyes water, so the generous vouchers you included, well BlushBlush
SO very kind of you, even just taking the time out when its manic at this time of year, to think of someone else (especially someone you dont know) and put effort into buying presents, writing letters and schlepping to the PO which is going to be heaving this week, is such an amazing thing to do when youve all got kids, family and friends of our own to buy for.
Im truly touched just for the thought, time and effort and thats without the expense you went to - thankyou
The vouchers are very needed and most appreciated, the 2 gifts for my LO were lovely and the Christmas DVD is going on this weekend and one I love Smile. Like others I dont feel very worthy of being nominated, I only post on one thread which is antenatal, so I assume one of the lovely kind mummies to be on there nominated me as my not-so-D-DP left me when I was 33 weeks pregnant and not having any family support I had no-one in RL to talk to and was very down Sad Christmas will be tough not only financially but emotionally too for me and my 3 lovely DD'S but I have a beautiful 5 week old DS and we will be ok im sure. Reading through some of the previous threads, I havnt got it too bad and should count my blessings for my healthy DC's and its EX DP's loss Wink Mammouth post sorry, but signing off with a huge and heartfelt thankyou to my nominator and slattern (love the name) for including me in a lovely MN tradition, I feel honoured. Thanks to you both x
