Only 8 days until I DC can have the advent calendars. I checked, and they are both of the new, trendy, prepacked variety.

SoMuchToBits · 22/11/2010 23:00

So is mine ds's Grin

ChateauRouge · 27/11/2010 21:03

SMTB- where did you order nativity set from please? I have been trying to decide bwtween the playmobil one and a Haba one... but the Haba one is soooo expensive Sad (£90)

We have the Playmobil Nativity set

I the dcs adore it and it comes out every advent, we set up a new little bit each day along with doing advent calendars etc - it has become a bit of a tradition. Love the kings with their accessories, lol at pimped camels.

I let them play with it but get far too stressed when they knock over the cooking pot which they always do or when the camels lose their packs. It's a stressful business Grin

mogs0 · 04/12/2010 23:28

Well, I trawled (what felt like) every toy store in New York looking for Christmas Playmobil and couldn't find a single thing Sad.

Is there anywhere that sells Christmas sets online (apart from ebay)?

SnowMuchToBits · 04/12/2010 23:37

Loads of places do (although you may find by now some of them are sold out)

You can buy direct from Playmobil website, or from Heritage Gifts, or Buy4lessonline or toysdirect to your door.

Just Google the Playmobil set number you want, and you will probably be able to find a stockist.

It's ds's birthday tomorrow, so our Christmas sets will be making an appearance.... Xmas Grin

mogs0 · 04/12/2010 23:56

I have been looking for a few weeks and they only seem to sell the calendars and nativity sets.

I want the light-up Christmas tree, the Christmas organ... can't think of the other things at the moment.

The organ was on ebay before I went to NY for £7.50 + p&p. On one NY toy shop website it was $4.95 so I planned to get it there but I hadn't realised they didn't have them in store (only online). Now the ebay ones are £8.50 + p&p.

SnowMuchToBits · 05/12/2010 09:28

Ah, Mogs those sets you mention are new sets that are currently available in Germany and some other European countries, but not in Britain yet (we will get them next year). So the only places selling them here will be people who have imported them (e.g. on eBay).

mogs0 · 05/12/2010 17:20

I will just have to be patient and wait until next year!!

I might suggest to my sisters a pre-Christmas trip to Germany next year instead of NY!

SnowMuchToBits · 05/12/2010 18:50

We will have to be patient too - we love some of those new sets. I'm just hoping ds hasn't grown out of Playmobil by next year. He's 10 today, and still loves it (in fact he is currently busy assembling his new Playmobil fire station), but don't know when the allure of Playmobil will wear off.

SummerRain · 06/12/2010 10:42

i had lost this thread Blush

how's everyone getting on with their advent calandars? ds1 got a policeman today (although he calls him a Guard as we live in Ireland) and dd got a reindeer.... poor thing though, she thinks she's going to get Santa every day. I brought out last years Santa's bakery though so she's finally got her hands on a Santa and some angels and has been introducing them to her animals all morning

Tikkabillajive · 06/12/2010 10:50

Well we're still awaiting the missing bits to ours but the dcs don't seem to have noticed. We had Father Christmas today and there is currently a Spartacus-style argument going on between all our FCs as to who is the real one.

Happy birthday to your ds SnowMuch!

I am looking forward to the swimming pool next year too - and the new style camper van.

SnowMuchToBits · 06/12/2010 12:37

Thanks Tikka - it was yesterday, but he had a great time (and lots of Playmobil!). He has gone off on a school trip to London today (overnight trip, so he will be back tomorrow evening) so I'm missing him like mad, and keep going into the kitchen to have conversations with Norman Xmas Blush

SummerRain, we had a reindeer too in our advent calendar. In fact, I have started an advent calendar thread (for all sorts of advent calendars, not just Playmobil) in the Christmas topic if you want to swap advent calendar experiences.

mogs0 · 06/12/2010 13:45

I was away until Saturday and forgot to get our ds' Playmobil calendar ready before I left Blush. I finally managed to get it out last night only to discover that number 10 box is missing Sad. The contents are there, just the box is missing so I'll have to find something to put it in before Friday.

We got up late this morning so poor ds only saw the calendar as he was on his way out of the door and was ushered out before having a chance to open the 6 boxes waiting for him. Oh well, he'll have something nice to look forward to when he gets home from school!

I bought a Christmas set off ebay a few weeks and can't for the life of me remember where I put it so am off now to hunt for it!

belgo · 06/12/2010 13:52

Which one do you have Mogs? We have the pirate calender, from a couple of years ago. I always buy them reduced.

I have just bought the lego advent calender here for 10 euros from the lego shop, that's for next year!

stealthsquiggle · 06/12/2010 13:52

Our two calendars are going well - except that DD keeps losing bits Hmm - knight's horse and pony ranch horse were sharing carrots for breakfast this morning Grin.

mogs0 · 06/12/2010 13:59

I think it's the Town square - it has carol singers and a few animals.

I looked at the lego one in NY last week but I had my heart set on buying a Playmobil Christmas tree that I just couldn't bring myself to buy the Lego set Blush.

belgo · 06/12/2010 14:06

I've just received an email saying my order has been cancelled. No idea why! I'm disappointed.

Slubberdegullion · 06/12/2010 14:11

Advent calendars (year 3 or 4 now of reusing) going as strong as ever here.

There has been a most upsetting incident with the nativity scene.
DH in his great and mighty wisdom insisted that the dds be allowed to set it up because "they would love it" and of course they did but set it up COMPLETELY INCORRECTLY with camel in the animal line up and not with the kings (ditto sheep not with shepherd) and Mary, Joseph and Gabriel off in a little huddle to stage left totally neglecting the baby Jesus.

Anyway much to my horror and despair they have continued playing with it, undoing the biblically correct dioramas I create when the have gone to bed. SOMEHOW the goat ended up up the floor and then ended up in the dog's mouth and now it only has one ear.

There is a maimed and imperfect animal looking at the baby Jesus now which may be metaphorical but it troubles me deeply.

SummerRain · 06/12/2010 15:51

dear lord slubber, what a travesty Shock You'll simply have to buy a new one for next year Wink

stealth... same here, ds1 has lost half the small bits already > dd has found his grappling line for him at least but we're a few gold coins and a set of keys down already and it's only day 6 > Maybe the Guard/Policeman can be utilised to find them >

Slubberdegullion · 06/12/2010 15:59

lol

...or I could just get a new goat Grin

SnowMuchToBits · 06/12/2010 16:01

I have set up the bits from ds's advent calendar nicely while he is away - so the deer are feeding from the hay in the manger (Christmas in the forest advent calendar here).

Sorry to hear there is such chaos with yours Slubber. I like the idea of the animals sharing the carrots for breakfast, stealth!

Mogs, if you look at the instruction book, you can find the part number of the missing item from door 10, and phone Playmobil customer services for a replacement. It won't arrive before the 10th, but you could maybe put something else in in the meantime.

I can hardly wait for ds to get back from his school trip tomorrow, so that we can open the Playmobil nativity sets I got him for myself his birthday.....

Slubberdegullion · 06/12/2010 16:03

I do approve of a nice and festive deer feeding scene SnowMuch Xmas Smile

SnowMuchToBits · 06/12/2010 16:05

I hope ds will like it when he returns! Xmas Smile I'm missing him sooooooo much, and he's only away one night Xmas Blush
