I expect they will be sad to sell it - I can't imagine ever selling Norman the Foreman Shock

Tikkabillajive · 13/11/2010 19:21

My sister had that house when she was a child - I think it went to the dump in the end! Shock

SoMuchToBits · 13/11/2010 19:25

The dump!!!! Shock How awful... I can't imagine anyone taking Playmobil to the dump. Even if you don't want to keep it it could be given away or taken to the charity shop (I assume this was before the days of eBay?)

Also it make sme realise you must be loads younger than me, as Playmobil wasn't even around when I was a child Blush. Maybe that's why I love it so much now....

mamatomany · 13/11/2010 19:27

I think I am going to get my spoilt child the school this year and ask the grandparents to buy bits for it.
Has anyone seen any good deals ?
I am so sure I saw it in the summer half price and am kicking myself now.

SoMuchToBits · 13/11/2010 19:32

Buy4LessOnline have it for £110.97 (plus p & p I would imagine). That's the best price I have seen it at.

mumbar · 13/11/2010 19:34

Oh playmobil. DS has some at my mums which was my DB, he's 23 now Grin Now we have built a collection at home over the years.

Airport and plane,
park,
recycling lorry,
police bits,
pirate ship,
construction site (bloody coal gets everywhere!)

I come from a large family so they all club together and buy something for DS.

He's 6.3 now and still loves it.

Tikkabillajive · 13/11/2010 19:37

Yes it was pre-Ebay SoMuch. I think it was the same house move as the one my books got lost in Sad. But it had been very well played with. And apparently someone saw it and asked my dad if they could take it for their child, so hopefully it is still going strong somewhere. I'm sad it wasn't saved for the grandchildren (my dcs) though - but I guess my parents couldn't keep everything!

I'm 34 and when I was little I just had a few Playmobil bits - a boat and a couple of figures. It had definitely moved on by the time my sister who is 8 years younger than me started getting it - she had the house and a playground which is the same as the versions sold today.

DH had quite a bit too and his mum was much better at keeping it than mine - she handed over his collection to my dcs a few months ago so now we have several random 80s-style knights and cowboys!

OracleInaCoracle · 13/11/2010 19:45

elc have the take along pirate island reduced rom £30-£15. got one for ds today, and the compact pirate island for £6.50 reduced from £12.99

SoMuchToBits · 13/11/2010 22:13

I am almost 49, so Playmobil didn't exist until I was about 13.

mogs0 · 13/11/2010 22:31

I always had Lego as a child and first heard about Playmobil only about 5ish years ago. Ds and I have a lot of catching up to do!

I'd really love to get the Victorian Mansion but am going to have to be very strong and at least wait until after Christmas when the prices may come down a lot little.

I have spent hours sorting through the massive basket that ds has to store it all in. He has re-discovered the castle that has been unplayed with for months and months and would like to keep it instead of ebaying it to raise funds for my new mansion now that I have put it all together and found all the its Hmm.

I found most of the campervan bits and have photographed for ebay but it looks so lovely I'm having second thoughts Blush.

MrsDinky · 13/11/2010 23:07

Mamatomany
Youngworld have the school for £99.89, they had them in stock today but very limited and will go fast at that price]]

stealthsquiggle · 13/11/2010 23:20

Oh bugger - sorry, somuch - I was busy trying to plan and cater a party for DS in one day (and failing - party is tomorrow morning and I still have a huge list)

I will line FCs up and shoot them on Monday, I promise.

SoMuchToBits · 13/11/2010 23:24

Shock at shooting FCs!!!! With rifles or revolvers? Have they been misbehaving over the weekend?????

SoMuchToBits · 13/11/2010 23:25

Hope the party goes well though stealth - how old is ds?

I thought my best friend and I were the only people obsessed with playmobil, how small minded I am!

My dd1 and me love playmobil. Dd1 has the hospital plus the extras like the ambulance, the playground, the fairy castle set (the one mentioned earlier that was reduce from £49.99 to £19.99). This Christmas she wants the pony ranch, I got one reduce from £80 to £43 from mail order express. It looks similar to the up to date one for sale on the playmobil website but cheaper. GPs are buying the bits to go with it.

I'm already planning next years purchase - the school!

belgo · 14/11/2010 10:18

mogs - I didn't have lego or playmobil as a child - I have a lot of catching up to do for both! Mt children had a wonderful day yesterday, their uncle took them to a toy shop and let them choose a gift each. I swiftly steered them away from the barbies and dd2 choose the playmobil swimming pool here and ds a playmobil car. We are having great fun today!

mogs0 · 14/11/2010 11:11

Belgo - you do have loads of catching up to do! Ds has voluntarily turned the tv off in favour of playing with the playmobil Shock. I'm feeling guilty for allowing his room to get into and remain such a mess for so long as he is really enjoying playing with all this stuff now that he can see a bit of his floor Blush. Even worse, I have to drag him away now to go and practise his spellings Sad.

belgo · 14/11/2010 11:30

I'm getting there mogsSmile. They children are now playing with the Christmas playmobil for the first time this year.

mogs0 · 14/11/2010 13:05

Someone stop me from spending all my PP balance on a mansion that's about to end on ebay!! Are they likely to be a bit cheaper after Christmas?

SoMuchToBits · 14/11/2010 17:38

Oooh belgo, we really want that swimming pool when it comes out in the uk next year....

Today dh and I were at an orchestra rehearsal most of the day, so ds came with us. He brought along the take-along police station and several vehicles and police men (and Norman and Brian to give them a trip out!) He soon had an interesting police scene set out on the floor. Norman enjoyed the tea break best.

belgo · 14/11/2010 17:43

Tomuchtobit s- tbh I'm glad we didn't pay for it because it is overpriced for what it is. The dc are happy though.

Glad to hear Norman is still the same as everSmile

mamatomany · 14/11/2010 20:00

MrsDinky - thank you, have placed an order fingers crossed.

mogs0 · 14/11/2010 21:46

Am I missing something with this ebay listing? I can't believe how much it sold for Shock!

SoMuchToBits · 14/11/2010 21:56

If you are mogs, then I'm missing it too! I would have thought that would have sold for about £30 max.

Belgo, I will see how much the swimming pool costs next year. But if it's a bit expensive it may still be worth it if ds plays with it a lot!

Yes, Norman is still the same, no change there! Grin
