Should I take daughter to A&E? What's wrong with her eye? (pic)

I have an appointment for the GP on Friday but I'm just beginning to feel more worried. Should I wait until Friday or go to A&E?

Are you in London? If so I'd take her to Moorfields.
Failing that I'd take her to an opticians sooner than you can get to your GP

Is it the white patch you're worried about? Could it be a reflection?

I agree about taking her to an optician ( or eye hospital). It's likely the GP will ask you to go and be checked there anyway.

Still don't know what the problem is. Optician had more specialised equipment for dealing with eyes

When I was 2 i was taken to an optician because my eye looked 'funny' to my parents they referred me to the opthalmologist as an emergency same day, opticians can definitely help.

Round your daughters eye looks swollen, do you have pics of her eye before this one?

It honestly looks like the light is bad on the right hand side of the photo. I know there's been a lot of publicity about photos and eye cancers in children, but the chances of it being that are vanishingly rare.

And yes, you could always drop into an optician who I'm sure would be happy to check for you.

Btw sorry that sounded scary my eye was nothing like your daughters gosh sorry didn't want to make you panic just wanted to assure you opticians can help.

Go to the opticians, they can refer you to the closest eye unit if needed.

Personally I'd take the day off work/school and get her seen in the morning. If you explain on the phone, the opticians would be more knowledgable

I would try your gp and say its urgent and can't wait until Friday. Opticians should also be able to help though or at least call in at a pharmacy and ask. It looks dilated and red to me.

It is worth going to an optician if you can get an appointment sooner than the gp as they are able to refer you if necessary. DH had a problem a few years ago and Specsavers optician referred him straight to an Ophthalmologist who in turn got him to see the correct Consultant.

In London most GPs will just send you straight to moorfields for eyes that isn't obviously conjunctivitis, especially for babies. Had to take DS when he was a few months for what turned out to be some sort of abrasion

Is it the colour on of the iris? Much darker than the other - is the pupil larger in one eye?

Do you mean the darker colouring around the pupil? I thought it could be the lighting

One eye is much darker and a little larger than the other. I think I'd be going to A & E rather than wait until the morning.
