I have an appointment for the GP on Friday but I'm just beginning to feel more worried. Should I wait until Friday or go to A&E?

Glad you have been seen. Sending best wishes.

Footle · 12/09/2017 08:34

How can anyone come on to a thread like this and say anything other than trust your instinct, get off your phone , go to A&E?
Well done, OP.

Maudlinmaud · 12/09/2017 08:41

Good luck with everything op. I hope you get good news Flowers

lunar1 · 12/09/2017 08:56

Well done for spotting it and following you instincts. I hope you have some answers quickly.

Peakyblinders · 12/09/2017 09:23

So sorry it's going to be an anxious time OP but everything crossed it'll all be ok.

Ditto what everyone else has said about the competitive laid backness we always have on these threads.
Accusing poster's of being ridiculous, of time wasting etc etc. It was clearly an A&E issue and I doubt you'd be so cavalier were it YOUR child Angry

Frazzled2207 · 12/09/2017 09:47

You absolutely did the right thing and your daughter is on the way to getting fixed, if indeed there is something that needs fixing. Best of luck for the next few days I know it will be am anxious time x

Lillygolightly · 12/09/2017 09:50

Has she scratched her cornea? My mum managed to do this with tweezer by accident when having a good pluck. Her pupil dilated in response but returned to normal without intervention. I would still get it checked out though.

ineedwine99 · 12/09/2017 09:52

All the best for your daughter OP Flowers

Lillygolightly · 12/09/2017 09:54

Just seen your update OP glad you've gotten it checked. Hope all goes well for you and DD.

WhereTheFuckIsMyFuckingCoat · 12/09/2017 10:23

Glad you're good Vicar. Also sorry for the derail, OP, hope you and your dd are ok xx

Oakmaiden · 12/09/2017 10:43

I have to be honest, I read the first 20 or so posts on here in sheer disbelief - it was immediately obvious that there was a difference in the child's eyes and that one looked swollen in comparison to the other. And there was post after post saying "I can't see what the problem is"...

Sheesh.

burntoutmum · 12/09/2017 11:22

Does it really matter Oakmaiden? As the OP didn't state in the post which eye she was worried about it was difficult to spot. The only thing that stood out to me was the white blob. The mask was also very distracting.

Anyway OP, I hope everything goes ok at the next appointment. I'll be thinking of you x

HeyRoly · 12/09/2017 12:04

Yet another thread where I hope the blethering fools who say 'don't be ridiculous not a&e' feel like the idiots that they are. If you have no specific medical knowledge or experience, why the hell post on a thread like this? You realise you could actually cause serious harm to someone if they take your advice?!

Oh, get over yourself. No one said "this isn't worthy of medical attention". I said "it can wait until morning". I stand by that.

Of course I'm glad that it all turned out well for the OP and they got seen and examined by experts out of hours. I'm not sure that would be the case in all hospitals across the U.K.

What I resent is the increasingly hysterical posting behaviour of people on these threads. Totally unnecessary.

Fingers crossed for some answers soon, OP.

Ropsleybunny · 12/09/2017 12:36

I honestly think that the only advice anyone should give on these types of threads, is "seek medical advice ". No one is in a position to judge whether it's urgent or not.

It's irresponsible to advise anyone to wait.

frogsoup · 12/09/2017 13:28

I will not 'get over myself'. For once on mn, this is really important. A lot of people said it could wait until morning, some said it could wait for a gp appointment. As it turns out, it could poss have waited until morning, but it seems really not for a gp appointment. But you didn't know that, did you?! What if it had been cellulitis?! This is stuff that can kill. The last post like this I read had some people saying 'how ridiculous to call an ambulance' and it turned out the poster had sepsis and suffered a cardiac arrest on the way to hospital! I don't understand how people think it's ok to say this stuff, I really don't

LondonLassInTheCountry · 12/09/2017 14:53

If people dont know.

Do not say "Dont go to a&e"

People listen.
I had a sickness bug and was wondering about a&e, i didnt post on here but if i had, people would of told me to not be so stupid.

Turns out, my kidneys were failing, another couple of hours and i would of died.

Peakyblinders · 12/09/2017 16:13

Could not agree with the last 3 posts more.
Hope your o.k. OP x

Bravas · 12/09/2017 16:27

I'm glad you are now in the system so to speak and that you followed your instincts. I hope all is ok for your dd Flowers

Rhubarbz · 12/09/2017 16:44

So glad you went when you did! I was told it was critical to get eyes checked out if there were even minor concerns.

Footle · 12/09/2017 16:48

HeyRoly, it hasn't turned out all right, not yet anyway.
And Lilly , no, the little girl hadn't been plucking her eyebrows.

mineofuselessinformation · 12/09/2017 18:45

Frankly, I resent people delivering verdicts on situations they have no expertise in, and very likely no experience of, and then refusing to concede that they may have been incorrect in their advice.

MrsCK · 12/09/2017 21:06

I'm so glad you went op. You've been in my thoughts

TheresSomebodyAtTheDoor · 12/09/2017 21:09

Thinking of you OP, must all feel quite scary right now. I'm so glad you were seen quickly, by the right people. Flowers

friendlyflicka · 12/09/2017 21:18

This is the first post of this kind I have posted on. I posted because nobody seemed to have the same experience as me: that of having a toddler with a very similar appearance, being a bit confused, booking a GP's appt and then having my daughter raced into hospital and being on IV ABs for 5 days because of cellulitis. This actually happened to my daughter on 4 occasions between 2 and 4 years' old. She is fine now.

The reason I posted was because I had that experience.

I wasn't being hysterical. Yesterday when this post appeared, I stopped comforting my own daughter about an issue at school and searched for the thread, quite compelled to post, as it had been such an area of complete ignorance for me. - I thought it was an upside stye - that was what I was googling before I made my daughter an appt with the dr, 8 years' ago.

I am very glad that your daughter is getting help.

Lukeandlorelai4Ever · 13/09/2017 14:25

How's your dd doing op?
