I'm also not interesting in meeting your criteria for breast- beating apologies. I've apologised that's enough. If it's not enough for you then so be it.

As I said earlier I'm very happy with where i am and who i am.

izyboy · 13/12/2008 15:59

Yes Tankie, she hasn't learned that it is not acceptable to make racist comments at all! 'All it served was to make me angry'. Tankie the lady is a lost cause unfortunately!

kittywise · 13/12/2008 16:02

oh izy, PLEASE PLEASE read the thread, you would be happier if you did.
Lost to your cause perhaps, whatever it is, I'm not sure I actually want to be part of your cause!!

ha,ha Kitty for someone who has 6 kids and a huuuge house that takes hours to clean you spend a hell of alot of time on MN trying to get the 'last word'. I've read enough to know that you have a closed and ignorant mind.

tankie · 13/12/2008 16:07

Really? I haven't noticed an apology. I've seen you say your post was "clumsy", and I've seen you come up with excuses as to why you and your comment weren't racist, but not an apology.

The reason people are angry and offended kitty is that you don't seem to understand why your comment was wrong, and you've shown no remorse.

kittywise · 13/12/2008 16:09

My mixed race son has just read this and can't work out what the problem is . Off to clean I shan't back.

OP posts:
izyboy · 13/12/2008 16:15

Well Tankie looks like the house'll get a good sort out at least one positive thing has come out of this debacle.

cakeordeath · 13/12/2008 16:24

"My mixed race son has just read this and can't work out what the problem is. Off to clean I shan't back."

Jesus. Forehead meet desk. There are so many things wrong with that sentence, I wouldn't know where to start. And that sharp inhalation? That's the sound of me saving my breath.

Christ, I hope this is an aberration and the rest of mumsnet isn't like this...

wickedwitchofthesoutheast · 13/12/2008 16:27

"My mixed race son has just read this and can't work out what the problem is . Off to clean I shan't back"

and that just shows what an ignorant individual you are, just as all black people aren't the same, neither are all mixed race people.

I am not suprized your 'mixed race' son doesn't see a problem if

a) he isn't black so wouldn't be offended by the original comment
b) he has your ignorant values instilled into him

izyboy · 13/12/2008 16:28

Cake ... Iknow... well.. mmmm.

mygreatauntgriselda4christmas · 13/12/2008 19:36

wicked which - "nice try" at what?

You haven't even read the "offensive" post so why are so spending so muc time attacking the OP?

Have you not got a life?

Or are you just an angry person generally, in your life?

Haven't you got any Christmas shopping to finish off?

Re "mixed race son" HTF do you know the lad isn't black?

You have not read the post but have got nothing better to do than harangue the author, even though you do not know what she actually said

You have never met the mixed race son, yet claim to know ehther he is black..

you are wierd!!

wewishyouawitchiechristmas · 13/12/2008 20:01

ok, I admit it, you've figured me out!

I'm not even black, I'm just a white chick with a chip on my shoulder

ps - I know that he's not black because

By kittywise on Wed 10-Dec-08 16:47:02

I'm not racist ffs , my children are mixed race

Think what you like, my dp is asian, put that in your pipes

plus, she has pictures on her profile

once again, must try harder ducky!!

wewishyouawitchiechristmas · 13/12/2008 20:33

thats right, I've got a chip on my shoulder for people who make insulting comments regarding black people.

so sue me!

nooka · 13/12/2008 20:34

Why should it be considered to have a chip on your shoulder to wish that everyone was considered on their merits as an individual? Isn't that what we all wish for ourselves, our families and friends? I am currently in Canada, and looking for work. If everyone here had the same views about the "lazy British" as Kitty and myaunt I would be stuffed wouldn't I? And they would be missing out on a highly skilled hard working employee. Dismissing people because of your prejudices makes the world a poorer place.

izyboy · 13/12/2008 20:36

Mr Kitty, dont you think you'd better help your wife with the cleaning?

Rienn · 13/12/2008 20:55

I dont think so u should have sacked your au pair!
I guess your child has just no manners and he/she has deserved kicked back.too much is allowed for the kids, they are spoiled,no discipline and out of control!
ur child kicked the au pair because she wanted to brush his teeth???Bad parenting from your side!!!My kids respect other adults and would never misbehave like this!!!
Im sure ur au pair just wanted to give your child a lesson and wasnt kicking him really hard!
Next time your child is going to kick you,hit you etc
well done!
Au pair is better off!!
And you wonder why kids didnt bond with the au pair???

kittywise · 13/12/2008 20:57

Nooka, you're way off track, have you read the thread?

Izy, top tip, thanks for that.

Mr Kitty writing:

Rienn, of course you're entitled to your view. I'd merely point out that you'd run the risk of being sent to prison if you acted on it. Don't blame me, it's just the law of the land.

OP posts:
techpep · 13/12/2008 21:03

And dont forget it is very important to expose our children to lots of different cultures, beliefs and customs. A person of different ethnic origin does not make a person that kicks children.

tankie · 13/12/2008 21:05

Oh the irony!

It's against the law of the land to discriminate against someone on the basis of skin colour too.

kittywise · 13/12/2008 21:10

Mr K writing,

Good points Techpep.

No irony Tankie, any au pair, whatever colour will be dismissed for kicking my 5 year old. You'd find it acceptable depending on their skin colour then?

OP posts:
pooka · 13/12/2008 21:13

And you'll no doubt be continuing that inclusive and appropriately colour-blind sentiment in choosing your next au pair? So in fact the decision not to have a black au pair has not been made after all?

Great news.

kittywise · 13/12/2008 21:21

Mr K writing:

Glad to have made your day Pooka. Our next au pair will be the best applicant for the job, same as the last one was.

OP posts:
noonki · 13/12/2008 21:24

If you won't hire someone who condones hitting/striking a child then fair enough.

If you won't hire some because they are either black or west african that is racist. Bottom line.
