Frankly I would think her a bit odd if with six kids and the money, she didnt hire help.

kittywise · 13/12/2008 11:04

Thanks hercules .

I meant you don't get paid for lunch breaks, tea breaks are different

People from different places are culturally different.

BLACK ISN'T A CULTURE

Black is a description of skin colour. A black person from Scotland is going to have many cultural differences with a black person from Italy, Jamaica, Canada, Senegal. Just as a white person from might

Black people are not one big, child-kicking, homogenous mass!

kittywise · 13/12/2008 11:26

tankie, this has ALREADY been discussed

God! I know. It's so annoying isn't it? You apologise and apologise (just of interest, darling where? I couldn't see it?!) But no matter, the point is you apologise until you're blue in the face, and yet they still go on about it. I mean God! Give it a rest - it's their choice to get so upset about it! I mean, anyone could say that all black people are child-kicking-not-to-be-employed types - heat of the moment and all that! Maybe if they weren't so aggressive and argumentative, then you could happily employ them. But really, you're taking your life into your hands, once you let them in the house, aren't you? Let's be realistic here, nobody is being racist, just honest, darling.

just in case you and any of your little pals can't tell the difference.

And that really should be my last word on the subject, because I'm getting overly worked up. As I should remember, the world is full of idiots and you really shouldn't take notice of all of them.

kittywise · 13/12/2008 11:36

Yes you are getting overly worked up.

However, I am flattered that I am you darling

tankie · 13/12/2008 11:41

But she's not racist, her husband's Asian!

It's a cute variation on "I'm not racist, some of my best friends are black)

SuperSillyus · 13/12/2008 11:43

I am one of kitty's friends and when I read her original racist wording I did think 'oops Kitty that doesn't sound good' but because I know her a little I put it into the context I felt she meant it in.

Just want to say that on the positive side everyone immediately jumped on it, and forced Kitty to explain herself. And the offending post was deleted so I hope that everyone hurt by it can take from that, that no-one thought her original wording was acceptable including Kitty herself.

Also think it is good for all of our inbuilt prejudices and assumptions about people to be challenged sometimes, it's healthy.

kittywise · 13/12/2008 11:51

That's right super, I'm sure we all say something and then think "what on earth was I thinking?"

That's life

This thread is amking me smile no

The offensive post was deleted days ago - so the people who have come on here in the last couple of days have not even read it!!

Why are they commenting on something they have not even read? Describing it as "racist" - how do you know???

I am not "defending" Kitty's post as I have not read it myself - as I say it was deleted days ago, so how cn you comment when you haven't even seen the conent?

mygreatauntgriselda4christmas · 13/12/2008 13:51

BTW if Englisworkers have such a good reputation, how come so many large companies use Auzzie/NZ/S African temps - because they have such good customer care and can read and write and know how to use correct grammar

Why do so may people prefer Polish builders?

Why would bus companies rather go to bland to recruit than use English drivers?

I have managed staff for about 16 years and of course not all English people have a poor attitude to work, but it is true to say that many people from overseas have a far better attitude to work than people brought up here, and a very strong work ethic

There is also a large residue of workless people in the UK who have chosen to live on beneits for generations and know how to work the system - Fact

mygreatauntgriselda4christmas · 13/12/2008 13:51

Polnd not bland

mygreatauntgriselda4christmas · 13/12/2008 13:52

'scuse typos - sticky keyboard

Quattrocento · 13/12/2008 14:00

There's a lack of reflection demonstrated by the OP, I think.

Firstly to say that your husband is asian therefore you cannot possibly be racist is simply not true. There is a lot of racism demonstrated by asians to black africans and vice versa.

Secondly, why is the child going around kicking people? That's not normal behaviour is it? What's wrong there?

juuule · 13/12/2008 14:58

hercules1 "Frankly I would think her a bit odd if with six kids and the money, she didnt hire help."

Really?

wickedwitchofthesoutheast · 13/12/2008 15:13

it doesn't matter that the post was deleted, someone helpfully quoted the offending comment for all to see!
nice try, but better luck next time eh!

kittywise · 13/12/2008 15:15

quattro, all these questions have already been asked and already been answered. yes it's a long thread so you might not be bothered to read it, but I'm not going to keep on answering the same questions over and over again.

OP posts:
kittywise · 13/12/2008 15:19

WW let it go now.
I can't understand why you want to keep on so.

OP posts:
kittywise · 13/12/2008 15:21

btw I don't care if the post was deleted or not. I have said what i wanted to say about it. If anyone would like to raise a new point in a non-aggressive manner I'm likely to want to reply.

OP posts:
tankie · 13/12/2008 15:42

It's probably easier to let racism go when you're not at the receiving end of it Kitty

izyboy · 13/12/2008 15:50

I think that is the crux of it Tankie, OP wants it brushed under the carpet. She wants people to see it as a 'slip of the tongue' oops! But not really to have to discuss the comment in a meaningful way. She becomes immediately defensive whenever it is discussed which makes her seem not at all apologetic.

kittywise · 13/12/2008 15:54

It's been discussed. people keep asking the same questions, saying the same things. As I said i understand you might not want to read this rather long thread but the questions have been answered and the points discussed.

There are many things in life that really make me furious and have offended me deeply, but I have also learned to let things go as there is nothing to be gained by going over the same point again and again again. AlI it served was to keep me angry.

Lol - looks like you're exactly right Izyboy!

kittywise · 13/12/2008 15:55

Actually I'm not interested in doing anything, brushing anything under any carpet, rug or whatever.

You haven't got me on the defensive which where I suspect you would like me to be.

Enough of this now for me.
