Mine was scanned on the 18th April and I've heard nothing (apart from the received text that day) we are in NI and it's ds's 2nd time renewing.
His runs out this weekend (on his birthday) then ca will run out a week today.
I just don't have it in me to phone them even though it's been 17 weeks, I'm always made to feel like a total scrounger and even at this late date I know I'll be told to phone back at the end of the week and round I go in circles again.
Ca are worse, because I work part time for my own sanity during school hours for pennies they send me letters every month saying I'm not eligible and I have to call up and basically beg every month to have them check my wage and eventually give me the money I'm entitled to.
So fed up of it all.
Sorry about the pity post but it's so hard filling the forms out and listing all your child's poor points just to then be left like a beggar waiting to see if your lovely dc fits their box they need to tick 🙄

This is how I feel , we are just scraping by week to week and I know how much dla could help as waiting times for things like nhs speech therapy and OT are months and months and I’d like to start earlier if we can by going private but I’m worried we may not even get awarded . I’m going to call first thing tomorrow but dreading it as like you say they can sometimes be off then you feel like you’re pestering them and it’s just a horrible awkward feeling

TiredOfCleaning · 14/08/2023 12:32

Week 16 here.

I will wait another week and then ring ostensibly to make sure they got the additional info.

FWIW for anyone- I recently met up with a friend who went from being a nurse to assessing DLA. never mentioned that we are waiting for a decision (although she knows DS1 so could probably twig we at least have applied at some point) and she was talking about her work and it was with such compassion and love that it made me feel hopeful that the DMs are not all faceless people looking for any reason to reject claims.

TiredOfCleaning · 14/08/2023 12:55

Although that said I do know many people on this very thread have had claims rejected that are then passed without quibble in a MR.

I just felt slightly comforted and hope that our DM is someone like my friend- who just 'gets' how stressful and painful it can be for parents waiting.

Piony · 14/08/2023 12:58

Thank you for sharing that @TiredOfCleaning . I really hope you are right.

I just called and waited an hour on hold to be told the wait is 27 weeks!! Is this right?!? I knew it was about 18 but 27 weeks is half a year. It's outrageous

Oh my!! Never heard of 27 weeks that is absolutely ridiculous!!

Chels2020 · 14/08/2023 13:34

This is correct I posted on a different one my son has had dla for the last 3 years we sent his renewal pack back in march (this isn’t due for renewal it was a change of circumstances for mobility he can’t walk and is turning 3 tomorrow) they told me second week of April when I rang to see if they had his forms it’s taking 26 weeks it’s such a long wait for people it’s really frustrating

Chels2020 · 14/08/2023 13:34

I have had two texts since telling me they are still looking at the claim

CopperSeahorses · 14/08/2023 17:29

I was told 26 weeks for change of circumstances recently and 18 weeks for renewals.

Ray1996 · 15/08/2023 08:10

Morning, I rang yesterday to provide an update on my childs circumstances. Scan date 24/04/23. They wouldn't confirm how much longer and just said it had been queued......
Unfortunately when I sent the forms I had little supporting evidence from proffesionals
. My childs mental health and wellbeing spiralled overnight and has impacted on my working hours when suddenly became unwell. Yesterday I rang to say she has now been assessed by camhs and having cbt every week. Going through mat pathway but that takes ages. I think I won't be accepted. I just want to know either way now.
School provided support but now she's left primary and waiting to start secondary school primary didn't do the things I asked like iep.

SJ1995 · 15/08/2023 09:36

Our scan date was 20/04 and we had a phone call yesterday to say it would be completed within next few days, then a text an hour later to say claim was awarded. 👍🏻

Well done! And may? Was this a new claim?

barbie3 · 15/08/2023 14:04

Money hit my account today (backdated). They received our forms 5/4 so it's taken 18+ weeks. Didn't phone or chase at all. I think from the lump sum we got middle rate care, low rate mobility which is what I think we were due- so I thankfully won't be appealing anything.
Good luck to all those waiting. Just mentally prepare yourself for a longer wait and then you won't be as frustrated.

Mommyof42023 · 15/08/2023 16:41

Was your scan date 25/04 or 25/05?

Hi evreyone a bit of topic but I have received my backpay and successful claim. I have put my change on uc on the 9th August and was confirmed and sent too a dm on the backpay situation. How long roughly does this process take ?

Do you have to inform UC? If so how? And will they decrease payments ?
