It really has been the longest wait and I'm so glad it's over his been awarded for 5 years no diagnosis yet and EHCP not in place either, anyone worrying about evidence please don't worry it's not about the evidence it's about the care needs at home!
I was worrying as I thought I didn't send much in but the man on the phone was lovely and explained even if things aren't in place we go by how children care needs are at home not by diagnosis!
Hope this puts some people's minds at ease

will echo this as we too had very limited evidence.

treeoakkez · 31/08/2023 14:15

@trace34567 oh really?? I didn't know I could do that. Been waiting for ages. I've got a report from speech therapy about his flapping and finger postering. Along with fixation on sockets and wheels.

he's so challenging. Sat here waiting for him to decide we can go out. Currently been sat by the door for 30 mins so far. I can't pick him up or make him as he just full blow. attacks me with fury ( he doesn't mean to) but getting thumped in the face and kicked so hard on the legs I'd rather swerve it.

Lack of understanding is really affecting his behaviour.
Noises are bothering him, so when we do finally go out his hands are covering his ears and eyes shut. I don't want to do the ear muffs tbh.

treeoakkez · 31/08/2023 14:16

I only got awarded for one year! Another 6 months I'll have to renew I'm guessing. This is torture 🤦‍♀️

treeoakkez thats how i finally got my son diagnosed was by pestering my GP, sound so much like my son who has finally crashed after being awake all night

Wigswaddis · 31/08/2023 14:23

I’m so please, seems like you’ve been waiting forever.

treeoakkez · 31/08/2023 14:23

@trace34567 my boy is awake all hours, doesn't shout for me or anything. He's never called me from his cot bed. He will just lay awake then run empty the whole day. I really need to set up some sort of time lapse recording to see how much he is actually awake.
I'm exhausted, I'm going to sit down tonight and go through this book of a form for the second time. 😣

Wigswaddis · 31/08/2023 14:27

You’ll earn to much for carers allowance but for UC, you need to go to the report a chance of circumstance section, and re declare the child, ticking the disability box and the report yourself as a carer on UC

Mydogisamentalist · 31/08/2023 14:28

I’m waiting on a renewal for my daughter. Scan date 16th June and her award is due to run out on 21st September. I’m now worried it won’t be done in time.
Does anybody know how long renewals are taking at the moment? I’ve always thought they do them a few days before the award is due to run out rather than how early it’s sent in.

Am I entitled for the carers element? It's all so confusing

Fgsss · 31/08/2023 15:26

Does anyone know if you can receive both UC carers element for a disabled person you care for (35 hours per week) and also UC disabled child element for your child that receives HRC DLA?

Yes I get both x

Actually I get carers allowance separately and UC deduct it off my claim and I also get the disability element.

AylinSengul · 31/08/2023 16:18

Hi all.. my son has Autism and currently waiting for a answer as to weather he’s got ADHD as well. He’s been getting DLA since his diagnosis at around age 4. His current award runs out in November and it was for 5 years, I’ve sent his renewal off in July and I have just called them and they said it will take 15 weeks for a decision which means it will run out literally a few days before his current award. I’m so stressed they won’t renew his money and we really need it to live, the worry is stressing me out. Is there anyone else with renewals that’s waiting or had answers and have you got it re-awarded ? Thanks sorry for the long post xx

Mydogisamentalist · 31/08/2023 16:31

@AylinSengul I have no advice but just thought I’d let you know I’m in the same boat. They got my daughters renewal on the 16th June and her award runs out 21st September. I’m so stressed about it and the thought of ringing fills me with horror!

I was absolutely certain that renewals worked on a different system where they are usually looked at a few days before they are due to run out.

I’ve just about had it with everything! My daughter is five, non verbal, still in nappies, has no understanding of the world around her and can’t communicate. She’s massively regressing. The school are pushing for her to be put in a unit which seems the most sensible option as one of the many plans they have in place for September is bolting all the doors locked at the top so she can’t escape. Otherwise she roams the school and her new class is far more open to dangers than her old one. I really can’t cope with dla stress on top of everything else!

AylinSengul · 31/08/2023 16:36

@Mydogisamentalist I feel for you, it’s so stressful and I called today and she said it’s taken my 14.5 weeks for a decision and that means it’s right before my claim ends. If we lose the money I will lost so much money and then not to be able to afford my rent and I have no family that can help. I’m literally all my kids have. I’m sat here crying cos it’s literally eating me alive with worry.

Ellejkjlljhb · 31/08/2023 16:37

Hi there my daughter 3 yearshas autism keeps us up all night long and has behaviours due to not having much understanding of what we say although her delayed speech is getting alot better understanding what we are saying isn't we put in a Claines for dla because all the equipment suggested is going to cripple us financially and the ammount of stuff she breaks is getting expensive our scan date is 13th June even though I sent it a month before this I was wondering does scan date go by area or does it all go to the same people we were told to call middle of September if we hear nothing but it's looking more like October from this thread also I only sent her diognosis assessment so I'm worried I haven't provided enough as the health visitor said I should have given it to her to fill a bit out do I still send this in or is it too late

Kind regards
Elle

Hanhan88 · 31/08/2023 16:45

Hey guys scan date is 3/5

Called last week Tuesday to be told it's gone to a decision maker that was over a week ago called today and been told still nothing and to wait the 18 weeks and that I should hear something..the wait is killing me his got his heart set on something and keeps asking have they told u if I'm getting anything his 13 and has fixations like u wudnt believe asked me to call again this evening after calling this morning I refused 😂 I'm not doing that hour and half wait again...I've seen people with 3/5 and 4/5 say they have been awarded so making me worry now 🥴

zoeybrooks45 · 31/08/2023 17:01

You’ve got the same scan date as me 13/06, I sent it a few weeks before. I haven’t included much reports as well but sending off more evidence this week. We are looking at end of sept/early October. So you still have time to send some in x

ET2002 · 31/08/2023 17:49

Hi
Just wondering if any one can help, I have just been verified for carer uc element can I still apply for carer allowance and this be deducted or is it only or the other?

Wigswaddis · 31/08/2023 17:51

Yes you’ll get carers element regardless of earnings. Your earnings for UC will be deducted after your work allowance at 55p per pound earned but if you get some now, you will get it.

Wigswaddis · 31/08/2023 17:54

Yes, if you earn less than £139 a week you can apply for carers allowance as well but it Weill be deducted pound for pound from your UC.

Mydogisamentalist · 31/08/2023 18:46

Does anybody know how I send more evidence in? What the address I need to use and what I’d need to put on the cover letter?

I’ve been debating over whether sending my daughters Statement (I’m in wales) review from the last week of term but decided against it. I’ve just reread it and realised it has lots of information that isn’t evidenced on the other stuff I’ve sent in. Like her biting other children and how she’s now receiving full time 1-1 teaching assistant support.

Would you all send new evidence or leave it? I hate all of this!

Good evening, Personally i would send in as much information as possible they don't know your child they are just going on the paperwork application that you have submitted so you have to build a picture for DLA

Hope this helps

Stressedsoph1 · 31/08/2023 19:34

is it worth updating universal credit now or better to wait til I get the letter confirming the award ?

I would wait till the letter, as the date I phoned for the forms was not the date I was backed dated from it was the first Tuesday after, if that makes sense.
