To be fair I was told yesteday they had 12,000 claims that hadn't even been scanned into the system yet. I just think we all need to be patient.
Mines 5/5 not expecting to hear till mid October now really.

I totally agree, I still think it’s a long time to wait, my son is non verbal and the the waiting list for SLT intervention is over 18 months. We can’t afford private therapy without the DLA and even then we may get declined x

@Lt88 what a frustrating update. Almost worse than none at all.

@1990shopefulftm I tried the postal form the first couple of times I applied, and failed to do it within the 6 weeks. The third time I did it on the computer. I would let the postal thing go - If DC does get awarded it'll still be backdated 17ish weeks I think.

Piony · 30/08/2023 14:37

*first couple of times I attempted to apply, that is. That form is REALLY hard!

It's more than getting the backpay really that's worrying me with the waiting time seemingly going up.
It's that DS turns 3 in 8 weeks or so and we need the DLA eligibility by then so his nursery to apply for certain funds for 1:1 support for him. Also, that I could do with UC counting me as a carer before the work requirements for me kick in with his birthday so we don't get sanctioned when I can't meet them easily.

Mommyof42023 · 30/08/2023 13:43

Just wondering if anyone could help me, as son was awarded Hrc and I put in for carets allowance I’ve just checked my bank and they must have backdated me what happens now with my uc as I was on the understanding I would revive carets but it would be deducted from my uc

Yes so carers allowance is paid separately to you from your uc. However when you get paid uv you will have a deduction from your payment. Its £1 for £1. X

GG89 · 30/08/2023 14:53

treeoakkez · 30/08/2023 13:53

I'm looking into carers but I don't know where to even start. I get UC so do I claim as carers element or do it separately through carers allowance 🤷‍♀️

Depends what suits you best.
if you work you might not be entitled to carers allowance, but will be entitled to the carers element on uc.
or if you dont work you will be entitled to carers allowance which i believe is paid weekly, however this will be deducted £1 for £1 from your uc x

@Wigswaddis my case manager has sent a message over to see if a decision can be made any quicker how long does this normally take to get a response? thanks for all your advice :)

Wigswaddis · 30/08/2023 15:12

They’ll respond to the handover fairly quickly but I wouldn’t expect the decision to take too long in any case although as we keep seeing with Dla, there seems to be little consistency. Sorry I can’t be more help.

Emma1620 · 30/08/2023 15:27

Can i just ask my daughter has been declined then declined MR should I just do new claim start again or is it really worth the hassle of tribunal, she has hearing loss both ears wears hearing aids, she sees a cbt therapist weekly just wondering what's best or should I just give up 🙈

zoeybrooks45 · 30/08/2023 15:48

I am sorry to hear that. Did you send any evidence with it and is your child school age? I think if you have more evidence now then it is worth going through with it. They usually want you to give up this is how to process is designed. All the best

zoeybrooks45 · 30/08/2023 16:14

Your son similar to my son age. It can be so hard getting the right support before school age. I managed to get a SEN support plan and 1:1 only for some time of the day. Have you already applied for the mobility component?

Ellejkjlljhb · 30/08/2023 16:40

Ours is 13th have bad anxiety anyway without the wait fi gers crossed for everyone

tiredmum1989 · 30/08/2023 20:29

Hi all, been following since the last thread as I sent my daughters claim in March and was awarded MRC in July. Have now finally sent off my sons claim today! So proud of myself haha as I hate that form 😩 but looks like we’ll be likely waiting until next year for a decision at this rate! I can’t believe how long things are taking, by the time by son is awarded I’ll only have 9 months and they’ll be sending out the forms to reapply for my daughter 😂 if you don’t laugh you’ll cry. Good luck all. Fingers crossed you get some decisions this week.

Muminboys · 30/08/2023 21:09

called today and was told another 3/4 weeks for a decision my scan date 10/05 which makes it 16 weeks today. If they’re currently looking at 2/3 May how can it be another month before they get to the 10th??

The estimates do seem to vary. I wonder if the person you spoke to was just adding a bit of leeway. There are lots of examples on these threads of people getting wildly different estimates for the same claim.

Wigswaddis · 30/08/2023 22:27

I was told this morning to expect to wait another couple of weeks and then got the message saying he qualified pretty much as soon as I put the phone down.

Stressedsoph1 · 30/08/2023 22:30

I think maybe they are giving a date to manage expectations rather than an actual target date
what puzzles me is the lack of consistency with notification. I've seen a lot saying they e received texts confirming success but equally plenty for whom the first they know is from a phone call or the money arriving in their bank

Pippisqueak · 31/08/2023 06:00

I have the same scan date as you for my son’s application. I applied for my daughter in March and it took 17 weeks. But right until the award they kept telling me it would still be another 2 or 3 weeks. I think they just say that to try and stop people phoning every day. I expect we will both get a decision within the next week. I did not get a text, even though I had explicitly requested one, they told me that only some DMs have the facilities to send a text.

unicornwonders · 31/08/2023 08:23

has anyone had disabled child element backdated lately? if so how long did it take, i’ve waited two weeks and heard nothing

treeoakkez · 31/08/2023 08:23

Is this through UC?

unicornwonders · 31/08/2023 08:31

@treeoakkez yeah, i declared two weeks ago

treeoakkez · 31/08/2023 08:33

unicornwonders · 31/08/2023 08:31

unicornwonders · 31/08/2023 08:34

@treeoakkez yeah i did and they said it went to a decision maker but i’ve still not heard anything two weeks on, that’s with my case manager chasing too
