You can send handovers to the decision makers but I’m not too sure that would do much. but I would not expect the decision to take too long really anyway and it will be a yes.

dreading getting started on my eldests renewal. no real change since it was last done 2 years ago other than the fact he's 2 years older and development wise he's just stalled. last time round we had social services backing us up due to trauma he had experienced but now we feel so alone

I sent off a COC for my little boy back in march- they received it on 9/3. Rang mid july told 26 weeks. I'm at 26 wks this Thurs. Rang last week got a lady who couldnt be bothered with the call whatsoever told me no september and pretty much hung up. It's ok only waited 1hr15 to get through...i'll be chasing come next thursday. These wait times are getting worse and worse as time goes by.

Stressedsoph1 · 27/08/2023 18:33

does anyone have any insight into renewals I've just received the forms. the existing claim ends 28th December. the letter with the form says to get it in ASAP if it gets assessed early and the amount is reduced will that be effective immediately or from renewal date?

Hiya! We got our renewal done a week before the end date, they normally leave it to the last minute. X

We’ve just had our renewal decision through for our boy. We had no extra evidence from his first decision as nothing changed and they awarded him the same as last time so hopefully you will
be ok! Good luck 😌

Looking for some advice.

We've just received HRC for my daighter till next October. She's due to go to high school in September and we have had a lot of support from the new Schools SEN team. Camhs who we see weekly have emailed school because she should be on the pathway for adhd/ Autism but primary just left it because she was leaving. She's a school refuser but we have done loads for transition with the hope she attends school. I feel that I need a plan if she doesn't. If she does refuse and I end up up home schooling can I apply for UC or carers allowance? Can I still apply if I leave work due to the circumstances or do you receive because you don't work. I know someone said you can't claim anything for 6 weeks if you leave work. I don't want to leave. I love my job but I need to put her needs first

urghhh47 · 27/08/2023 19:43

Hi - i get carers for my dd who gets DLA - she's home educated due to her autism. Was also unable to attend school. i'm
not sure about the UC but i would assume you can get it - see no reason you shouldn't!

Thank you.

I'm hoping she will attend in September even if its just part time. I'm just trying to look at worse case scenario and need to start looking up a back up.plan incase she doesn't. I work in education so home schooling could be an option. I just don't know how we will manage without me being in work. My partner works but we are just managing and both our wages and meeting her needs

I filled out the form with the same answers as I did in his previous claim and then I still had copies of the evidence I sent last time so I sent them again and I had written on the top of them same as last claim nothings changed. Also on the additional information page I emphasised that he currently gets high rate care and all care needs are the same as nothing has changed with his care needs and that his health has not improved.. Hope that helps x

Is anyone else feeling very anxious about this week?
I can't see any pending payments on my bank but that may be due to bank holiday. Last I heard my sons claim was with a DM Friday morning hoping to hear back tomorrow, good luck to all hearing back this week hope it's good news !

Wigswaddis · 28/08/2023 09:12

Terribly anxious. San date 02/05/2023. Not particularly hopeful as he has suspected adhd, only evidence was the sen plan from school but in reality it takes me hours to get him to bed. He was 9 on Saturday and I have to lie Ruth him for hours, not easy for a single parent of 4 also trying to do a full time job, he’ll be up multiple times in the night, and even if he goes to sleep at midnight he’ll be ip before 6. He has terrible angry meltdowns and he he’s really angry says he is going to kill himself and can’t be trusted near roads because he doesn’t pay any attention he just charges out. If he’s not constantly doing physical activities his energy levels are insane so I could really use the money to fund activities etc. Anyone any experience of that kind of thing actually being awarded? Fingers crossed for everyone this week.

Just remember it's about care needs not really diagnosis as much!
My son is the same ADHD/ASD.
I felt more awful filling the forms in than anything but just remember your doing it for your child and you know your child best.
All the best.
Our scan date was 25/04

And I didn't sent much forms off either, and my son has been diagnosed with anything as of yet

Piony · 28/08/2023 09:37

It must be so nerve racking @INWright knowing you're close! 2/5 here so trying not to think about it over the next few days.

We didn't send anything from school which is worrying me, but we do have a pretty thorough EHCP which I'm hoping will cover it.

Wigswaddis · 28/08/2023 09:58

Yea filling the forms in was horrible. Fingers crossed you hear in the next day or so. The man on the phone said to me it’s be likely the start of September. I’m not an anxious person real but this is so stressful.

Stressedsoph1 · 28/08/2023 10:07

also 2/5 scan date and also not much evidence, just lots of info about his behaviour and ability to keep himself safe . both boys suffer massive trauma after being abused by their uncle. I've had to move from a home I loved backed by police and social services. I've lost all my family as they've sided with my brother as did the eldests dad. they can't share a room as one has very violent outbursts and I constantly have to wake up to deal with night terrors and sleepwalking

Snoweymum · 28/08/2023 10:21

17 week wait tomorrow, I rang last Wednesday and it wasn't with a dm. Anyone else the 2nd planing on phoning this week or leaving it till 18 weeks?

I'm just going to ride it out, keep an eye on here and panic when others scanned on the 2/5 start getting awarded. I don't have the energy to deal with phoning them

Mumtotwoboys121 · 28/08/2023 10:29

Best of luck everyone for this coming week 🤗

Piony · 28/08/2023 11:15

@Stressedsoph1 that sounds horrific, I'm so sorry.

Wigswaddis · 28/08/2023 11:21

I’m so sorry you’ve all had to suffer that.
