@GG89

I thought I saw a form also and have been looking today. If I find it I will share the link

Hi everybody, my first time posting. I’m feeling so anxious at the moment. DD is 14 and was placed on the pathway for ASD earlier this year after 11 years of battling for her to be heard.
I have sent School IEP, hospital letter and ASD team panel assessment. Our scan date was 4/5 and I rang yesterday and was told to call back on the 4th of September. I work full time and I have found it impossible to find any childcare provision through the summer, due to DD age, and i couldn’t leave her unsupervised. Thank you for starting this thread, I’ve been following for the last few days and found it really helpful 😊

I think the online form for missing cost of living payments has now closed but you can ring them instead. The link I used is here but when I click through now it just takes you to phone numbers you need to call unfortunately.

On hold. Thought I’d call early in the hope the wait would be shorter.

Good luck 🤞

Wigswaddis · 24/08/2023 09:27

only took 15 mins to get through. Said it’s 17 weeks at the moment before a case manager even looks at it so no decision likely until September.

Hi everybody,
My scan date was 16/5 so I've a few weeks to wait, Mt 12yr old daughter has been assessed for asd and dispraxia the doctor was 100% she would get her diagnosis mid Aug. But the school imply very heavily that they don't believe she is even though she spends 45% of her days in learning support. Could this go negatively against her dla claim?

Just write the claim out anyway hun. Fight in what you believe in, get your GP to write a little email or letter with what they believe, don't need school evidence really it's about HOME needs not school.
Just write how she is in school from your point of view I would do that.
Good luck!

Thank you so much for your support it's lovely to know that we are not alone. I can't believe how hard this all is and without this group I'd be going crazy just not knowing what's happening with claims

treeoakkez · 24/08/2023 12:03

Just got off the phone it's been with a decision maker since 22nd so any time. Not guaranteed a text so fingers crossed 🤞

I completely understand. My sons school are the same because his speech and language is fine they are not acknowledging anything else even though other professionals have witnessed his behaviour (in school as well) and meltdowns. He had his speech and language assessment last week and she said even though that area is fine you can see he is struggling. Just have to keep fighting is what I’m learning. He’s been on the pathways since he was 3, he’s nearly 6 now. Good luck, don’t give up. Your the mum and you know your child ❤️

treeoakkez · 24/08/2023 12:53

We've been rewarded omg I'm crying

hidebab · 24/08/2023 12:58

Well done xx

Angry84 · 24/08/2023 13:08

Omg just got the letter saying her matt meeting next thu with us. So will know for definite then the receptionist wasn't allowed to tell me what decision had been made but I asked if it implied her diagnosis was made and she said it did. So with luck I can ring dla and add a diagnosis to her claim over the phone. I've adhd and can't ever stop fighting for her even if I wanted to. If all goes to plan she will start getting all the help she clearly needs.

Shellbel10 · 24/08/2023 13:19

so lovely to hear of people being successful. our next fight once this is done is eldest sons renewal and trying to fight for a diagnosis for youngest both for his mobility issues and his mental health be it ADHD, ADD or autism. he struggles at school and is supported most of the time and frequently removed from class yet the battle to get them to acknowledge an issue seems neverending

INWright · 24/08/2023 13:56

Amazing news to everyone who heard back already. Still currently waiting 25.04..

Stressedsoph1 · 24/08/2023 16:24

thank you ours is 2nd May

trace34567 · 24/08/2023 16:40

Hi all i applied to DLA on the 25th May 2023 and received a letter dated the 2nd June saying that they have received my application for my autistic child on the 20th of July then i received a letter saying that it can take up to 15 weeks for a decision.
I did get a text message on the 7th of August saying "we are still looking at your claim when a decision will be made we will confirm in writting "

I don't know why it takes so long my son has gone from verbal to non verbal currently trying to put and ECHP in place for him for school as needs a lot of help and support we even visited a special needs school and was told that it would not be suitable for him as he needs more specialist care.

My son does not sleep at regular times he struggles with sleeping and we have tried various sleeping tablets however none of them seem to help the only thing at present that does help is wearing noise cancelling headphones

I sent off reports from physiologists, school, occupational health and CHAMHS just hope that it has been enough proof for them to act on

Currently my son has prescribed Vitamin supplements due to him not eating much at this moment in time,My son also has ARFID eating disorder

we have spoken to a Dietician at my GP's request in regards to sons eating we have been referred to Children's social Prescriber who is trying to support my son and myself with my sons situation but still waiting its now been almost 13 weeks and have still not heard if the application is successful or declined.

Unfortunately that’s just how long the application takes regardless of how much evidence you send in. Such a long waiting time. Hope you hear soon enough x

Stressedsoph1 · 24/08/2023 17:12

for reference though they are currently dealing with applications they received around the end of April.

sorry quoted your post as wanted to add that info
