2 1/2 hours later... DS has been awarded low-rate mobility and high rate care. It was awarded on 18/8 and they're sending a letter not a text. We've got this until 2030! Thank god. The forms are awful 😖 we've also been backdated to my scan date and it's taking 3/-5 working days to go into my account.
Fingers crossed for everyone still waiting! X

Wow well done! When was your scan date! Bet you feel so relieved now bless you

Wigswaddis · 22/08/2023 16:59

The carers element should be verified the same day, it’s the first thing we do in the morning if any have dropped in. The disabled child element ought to be verified quickly too but not everyone is on the ball so I would keep pestering until you know it’s been done.are you sure you specifically ask for the back pay too as sometimes the underpayments sit in the case load for a good while because there’s such a high volume of work. The carers backdate may have to be sent to a decision maker, some people insist on sending it but it won’t get denied it just might take a couple of weeks. If you’re claiming carers alliance as well though it’s worth noting that it will be deducted pound for pound from your award, and if it’s backdated, you’ll end up with and overpayment of universal credit which is a bit annoying. The benefit of being in carers allowance though, is that you get a higher class national insurance stamp. Hope that helps.

WooYa · 22/08/2023 17:02

@IINWright so relieved! I love him to death but he costs a fortune to feed and for wraparound care...
Scan date was 25/4. I sent the forms back in March before his claim ended but they didn't get them until then so it was classed as a new claim 🫤

Shellbel10 · 22/08/2023 17:08

Amazing news @WooYa such a lifted weight for you

mum1213 · 22/08/2023 17:08

@treeoakkez anything yet

Nope not heard a stitch yet. You ?

allthedramamick · 22/08/2023 17:34

I've been following this thread constantly over the past couple of months but haven't posted. Have found the updates super helpful though so thought I'd comment to say my daughter has been awarded MRC & LRM - called today and they said it'd been awarded 2 days ago. Back payment has just gone in my bank. Scan date 25/04.

It'll literally change our lives alongside the extra UC elements, was barely making ends meet as it is with the necessities & extra costs and now she'll be able to do all of the clubs& have the sensory stuff she really needs.

Hope everybody who is waiting gets an answer soon! Smile it's super tough but today is a happy day!!

Shellbel10 · 22/08/2023 17:54

@treeoakkez nope me niether

unicornwonders · 22/08/2023 18:26

@Wigswaddis sorry to bother you but wondering if you can advise, my case manager is just being rude regarding me wanting the disabled child element backdated. i’ve asked how long these are taking or roughly based on experience and all she says is it will be done when it’s done. on your experience how long have they taken lately? and will asking for updates speed things along?

Wigswaddis · 22/08/2023 18:32

They can’t give you a timeframe because the volume of work can vary, in my experience at the moment they are taking a couple of weeks, if it’s been much longer than that they can send a handover to the decision maker to hurry it along. Personally I would keep asking for updates because it may be that it comes back from the decision maker and the underpayment isn’t picked up immediately because of the way we have to work, so if you’re constantly in the journals, if it’s come back it will have to be dealt with.

Thank you very much. The guy basically just put on my journal “Its with a specialised team, as soon as the claim has been verified we can see whether any back dated payments are due but this can only be done when verified and we cannot give a timescale on this”.
ive 100% asked for it to be backdated both elements. But he hasnt answered as to whether it will be awarded on this months notice period ending on the 25th.
i also cannot claim careers allowance as i work and earn too much x

Wigswaddis · 22/08/2023 18:41

The carers element will be added to your award this time if the assessment period doesn’t end until 25th. Caring has to be verified as soon as you get in in the morning it’s one of the first things to do if not the first, is to verify any caring activity that’s come in. The backdate will take longer because it has to go to a decision maker, but because the reason for the delay in declaring was a backed Dla claim, there’s no way you won’t get it. Keep asking about whether the disabled child element has been verified because it really should be done by the end of your assessment period too.

not sure if this will be of any help but if your child has an ehcp you can apply for a free bus pass (it can be used at any time not just for school travel). I’ve also had a couple of grants from family fund over the years, they’ve bought some garden play equipment and an iPad for my son.

funinthesun19 · 23/08/2023 00:52

I sent my DD’s claim form yesterday. It’s going to be a long long wait now. December/January time I’m guessing! 17 weeks 😩. It won’t be long after that that I will hear about the decision about her diagnosis too. So it will be a very nerve wracking time over Christmas and new year.

Best of luck with it all. We are on week 10 now and counting down the days to a decision x

ANONYMOUSLADYY · 23/08/2023 06:39

Hi all, I’ve followed these threads since January time, when I finally plucked up the courage to claim for my 10 year old son.
He has suspected Autism and ADHD, no diagnosis and I didn’t send off any documents with the claim! We have suspected ADHD since he was 2 but have always been in denial.
i have woken up to back pay into my bank this morning, I phoned up for the forms on 24/03 (I’m not sure when my scan date was I miss placed the letter they sent) assuming scan date was last week of April!

Shellbel10 · 23/08/2023 06:55

That’s amazing news @ANONYMOUSLADYY did you not send in any evidence at all. Have you managed to work out what rates you got.
my son suspected asd and I’m so scared not sent in enough info

this money will help so much! Im over the moon

this reassures me a bit. have a scan date of 2nd may for my youngest also didn't send any evidence apart from some old documentation about both sons trauma issues. from your decision and others detailed in the last week or so it sounds like potentially a week or so away from hearing. incredibly nervous about it but fingers crossed

Ray1996 · 23/08/2023 07:40

Just woke up to a payment I'm so happy!! We didn't have much evidence because my daughters on waiting lists for mental health/ suspected adhd/autism. She visits camhs weekly but when I sent forms off we were on waiting lists still.
Scan date 25/04 and received a payment of 1729.25. Could anyone inform me of what the weekly rate would be?

not 100% on this but looking at the rates and basing it on 17 weeks it looks like high rate care with no mobility payment

Goodthingswillcome · 23/08/2023 08:01

RAY1996 IT WORKS OUT AT HIGHEST RATE CARE,AT £101

Ray1996 · 23/08/2023 08:05

Thank you. I'm in complete shock but my girl deserves it. I've had to change my hours at work due to her crippling anxiety and the lack of sleep we have in the house. It will also helps with more private therapy. I just can't believe it.
Will payments be every four weeks from today then. I've read somewhere they are on a Tuesday and somewhere else they are on a Wednesday.
I honestly thought they would need more evidence unless they have contact GP and camhs since applying.

MansfieldLark · 23/08/2023 08:21

I got a similar amount, mine worked out at middle care and lower mobility. I only found out when I had the letter. I've just had my tax credits back dated 4 weeks also.
