Hope you don't mind me asking, but when did your claim end? or when was it due to end?

MansfieldLark · 17/08/2023 18:34

I've been told today by tax credits they will only backdate 4 weeks. Is this right?

dex5 · 17/08/2023 18:38

Neastmom · 15/08/2023 20:28

Hi
it was a renewal and it was from 25th May(25/05).

Hope you don't mind me asking, but when was your claim due to end?

SpaceRaiders · 17/08/2023 18:58

@MansfieldLark Ask for a mandatory reconsideration to get it backdated to the start of the claim. Post the form off and wait a month or so, they should allow it.

Neastmom · 17/08/2023 19:23

Ah ok, my scan date is 11th may but DS claim runs until the 2nd September, so I should hear in the next couple of days.

unicornwonders · 17/08/2023 20:15

yes of course!

I think it's disgusting that parents have to go through this repeatedly anyway, let alone having a 4 month wait!

My son has been awarded dla since he was 2 (probably could have had it since birth if i had known about it) I have always had a letter detailing his new claim within 6-8 weeks of sending off his renewal pack. I have never known it to be like this. He is 12 now and i still have to send off over 15 reports, details of all his consultants at gosh, details of how every one of his diagnosis affect his life and min, his medication, therapists .......every few years. The whole process is so mentally draining, I cry so so much filling those forms out and it hits me over and over each and every time that my child is disabled.

I'm not worried that my son wont have it renewed, but I am anxious that there will be a few weeks between the old claim ending and the new one starting, which will then have a knock on effect to his therapies, carers allowance which goes towards bills as his care needs prevent me from working. I know i'm not the only one in this position and reading through this thread just makes me so sad and angry.

I want to call and chase them but whats the point? I probably wont get through anyway!

Sorry for the rant :) I will update on here as soon as I hear anything.

unicornwonders · 18/08/2023 08:13

@dex5 thank you, this is my first renewal so i’m petrified she won’t get reawarded, i hope they know how much stress they put the parents through, as if it’s not enough that we stress everyday over our children and there health

Shellbel10 · 18/08/2023 08:18

Good luck everybody today. Scan date 27 April 😬

INWright · 18/08/2023 09:09

16 weeks here!
Been on the phone the man told me it will be with with someone by the end of September maybe October, I've put a massive complaint in this morning as I got told it would be July we are now august and now being told September, October is just absolutely ridiculous.
So anyone who scan dates are from 25/04/2023 onwards brace yourself.

And I said to the man that I know others that have got someone to look into it and try push it forward he said that's something they don't do

3mummy3 · 18/08/2023 09:43

I've just spoke to someone as I wanted to check that someone had given the information I gave when i called in july, so glad that I did, as he never put it on there. She said they are taking 17 weeks at the moment.

Jenjo191 · 18/08/2023 09:53

Hi everyone
We've been awarded middle rate care, backdated since 16th March.
Scan date was the 25th April.

Good luck to everyone else.
I had to ring but I was chasing to make sure my other sons renewal had gone through. I didn't get a phone call or text or anything.

Shellbel10 · 18/08/2023 10:02

Excellent news did they say when it was awarded
