I have just been on the phone to dla and was told my application is with a case manager 🤷🏼‍♀️ is that the same as the DM? And how long is it roughly with them for

Daisymum18 · 26/04/2023 09:18

I rang yesterday around 12ish my call was answered and was told no decision yet should be with a dm on or by may 8th as DMs are advising 13weeks before they look at claims our SD is 6th Feb but I've seen a few where there been no decision in the morning and a decision made by tea time the same day it can happen so fast

Daisymum18 · 26/04/2023 09:21

A case manager and a dm are the same thing I've been told before not with a case manager yet and also decision maker can be anything up to a week I think did they not say how long it had been with a case manager

Alex900 · 26/04/2023 09:25

@Daisymum18 no time frame was given just that it’s with a case manager I might ring back this afternoon and ask how long it’s been with them for

Ncheetham01 · 26/04/2023 09:50

Phoned just now to be told he has been awarded lrc & lrm and was awarded 24th April with scan date of 18th Jan

Alex900 · 26/04/2023 09:52

@Ncheetham01 can I ask what evidence you sent in? I don’t feel like I sent enough in to be awarded anything at all for my son

Ncheetham01 · 26/04/2023 10:00

I didnt send that much good luck with your claim xx

Alex900 · 26/04/2023 10:37

So I spoke with a lady and asked when it went to the DM she said she dosnt know that but it will be any time now. I also asked for a text message to be sent to me with the outcome of the decision. So finger crossed it will be this week. Scan date 27/1

@MrsB113 morning what evidence did you send with your claim? Just wondering because I only sent 2 pieces but before a diagnosis you can't get much else because until they are diagnosed they can't access much help x

My dd has Arfid & awaiting an autism assessment. When I sent the forms I literally just sent a copy of the letter to say she was awaiting assessment. I then updated at 7 weeks to give the names & contact details of her team at the Eating clinic. Then sent a copy of her prescription request as she is having nutricia shakes. The prescription request does state that she has an Arfid diagnosis I just don't have the full report yet.
Hope this helps.

megan345 · 26/04/2023 11:14

finally had my award letter, little boy has been awarded till 2027🥺

Alex900 · 26/04/2023 11:18

@MrsB113 i sent in the referral for CAMHS from the gp, a report from his schools findings outlining his traits of autism and ADHD, I sent a 2 page letter with his struggles at home, then 4 weeks in I sent the letter I received from education safeguarding outlining his attendance, which backed up what I had said in the letter about struggling to get him to go to school. I just hope that was enough because atm I don’t have anything else to go on it’s all a waiting game.

Autismum4 · 26/04/2023 11:21

Thank you @MrsB113 what award did you get? Also awaiting assessment and its the only evidence available for me to send, my child's needs are complex so I made some notes on what it is we have to do for him, hopefully we get results he deserves x

Sounds like you have more than enough. I'm not sure how dd's has been awarded , I have to sit with her for anything food related, I can't put food on the table and turn my back, I need to be there encouraging every bite.
Obviously there is alot more to it aswell as even discussion of food is massive in this house but that could be alot of the decision as she is 12 so not the standard eating habits for a child of her age.

Awarded mrc and lrm.
She's a very intelligent little cookie but has zero awareness outside! It's like she doesn't even realise a pavement ends and a road begins 🙈.
Her issues with food are huge, she can go weeks with eating 2 slices of bread a day to suddenly being 'starving' and wanting everything (within her safe food range).

Alex900 · 26/04/2023 11:34

@MrsB113 i hope so 🤞 I added notes on about eating aswell as my boy will only eat 3 types of food and it has to be the same brand every time or he won’t eat but that’s the autistic trait’s apparently. I mentioned sleep as he dosnt, his lack of social interaction, his maturity levels which are not of his age in any other aspect barring intelligence he exceeds. I just can’t stand this wait and now I’m prepared for a decline and I’m prepared for an acceptance I just need to know what the outcome is so I can plan my next moves. It’s driving me mad just not knowing x

Sounds very similar to our situation. We have sleep issues, massive anxiety.

I have everything crossed for you 🤞.
I spent most of Monday pacing. Couldn't think straight, spent the first few hours of yesterday preparing for a decline and then we got the decision.
And if I'm honest, I didn't really know what to do after that call apart from the practical bits.

Alex900 · 26/04/2023 11:55

@MrsB113 i though the same when I read you reply about the food. I find the older my sons getting the harder work he seems to be getting. It’s literally all or nothing. I either don’t hear a peep from him he’s doing his own thing in his room or he full of energy bouncing round, in ya face, dancing round. I really hope they come threw for him. I go to seaside every weekend now the weathers nice and he won’t even come with us due to his anxiety I want to do something he wants to do like he’s 12 and still very much into sonik and Spider-Man and them things I would love to take him to Madame Tussaud’s or Nickelodeon world but it becomes expensive when there’s a family to pay for. I would take him there every weekend if it ment he would come do stuff with us. I just feel for him

MrsB113 · 26/04/2023 12:05

It's so difficult isn't it as you don't want them to miss out on anything but at the same time need to be aware of where their limits are.
We went to a restaurant recently and managed a full meal. When we got home I sat and sobbed. Eating out sounds like your run of mill normal family thing but it was a huge achievement for our family. Something we haven't done for a good 5years.

Alex900 · 26/04/2023 12:09

@MrsB113 i understand how you feel I really do because we go for food and we will order but he won’t eat it, he will sit on his phone to distract himself from his surroundings. So we don’t bother going for food much. It’s the worst feeling as a mum to see kids hurting in such a way that they don’t understand and can’t change hut it becomes frustrating as a parent to not be able to do the simplest of things and I don’t think a lot of people speak about the effects it has on them as a parent and other siblings

MrsB113 · 26/04/2023 12:19

100%. Everyday is another battle to get through, it's bloody hard, I'm tired all the time. I spend half my life in a kitchen or hunting every supermarket looking for the right food but I wouldn't change a single thing. Its a mad house, full of moodswings and meltdowns but that's us.
It's hard but it works.

Alex900 · 26/04/2023 12:30

It is what it is isn’t it 🤷🏼‍♀️ it no one’s fault and it’s not ment to be understood just accepted. My house is a mad house too. I have bipolar one of my traits is impulse so I wake up and I’m like right let’s get dressed we’re off out for the day and it’s something I struggled trying to calm down on because my son dosnt work that way. He has to be prepared and prepped and if he dosnt wanna go he isn’t going 🤷🏼‍♀️ so as the adult that understands the condition I have I have to try control mine because no one can control his. It’s a constant battle but I wouldn’t do it without him Autism or no Austism
