It's looking like we're going to need a new thread. Good luck to everyone waiting for a decision. Our scan date is 02/11 so it could be any day now, but most likely another week or two.

OP posts:

harjinder01 · 17/02/2023 07:36

@MygirlGrace my son is the same as well but dnt talk much words his 4 .

tourettesadhdmum · 17/02/2023 08:05

@Snickerdoodles19 currently no, she’s on medication for tourettes but she’s having an assessment for adhd and autism as the psychiatrist said the 3 kinda go hand in hand so we’re in the middle of that, if they diagnose adhd they wil be changed her meds to adhd meds. they won’t see us until july now though they take forever with appointments. i’ve sent all the info to DLA i just hope it’s enough

harjinder01 · 17/02/2023 08:09

Let hope we get something for dla this is for my other son my older one is on dla .

harjinder01 · 17/02/2023 09:26

Dla people dnt really care if the child got asd or ADHD it's about what care child needs really there look at

Like my older son dnt have no assesment just on waiting but he's just got learning disabilities and we write down what we do for him because he need 24 hour care he got high and low which is shocking

Am apply for my other son is 4 years old he stuggle to walk and speak he dnt slep at night and he does need 24 hour care we stuggle with him alot he slep three hours only doctor and health visitor which know input on the form we just have crossed our fingers we all get it i do think who look at the case file .

tourettesadhdmum · 17/02/2023 09:58

@harjinder01 ah i know it goes on care needs, i’ve documented all that too and sent it off as she is medicated to help her sleep due to the tourettes not letting her sleep. she’s been under investigation for nearly 2 years now as she’s struggled since she was born with one thing or another

i hope you get what your son deserves

harjinder01 · 17/02/2023 10:01

He don't not slep we stuggle soo much and doctor as said wait we can't give him anything u just have to stuggle i dnt get no slep yh since birth as well

Snickerdoodles19 · 17/02/2023 10:02

@tourettesadhdmum its really bad, my son was diagnosed with adhd when he was 8, he’s had tics since he was 6 and they are getting more severe now his are mainly facial and vocal but non stop throughout the day, it’s hard because he doesn’t even realise he’s doing it so we try and not acknowledge them, he’s already on meds for adhd and sleep so I don’t really want him going on anything else if I can help it😔😔😔

harjinder01 · 17/02/2023 10:04

My son is 4 years old dnt he only say 20 or less words

Hi all
just to give you all some hope, I woke this morning g to a large payment from DLA
scan date 9/11
keep fighting our gorgeous kids deserve it. Xx

tourettesadhdmum · 17/02/2023 13:33

@Snickerdoodles19 thats exactly how my daughter is, she has motor and vocal tics and it’s constant, even in her sleep and like you we have to ignore it but its so different sometimes, she disrupts her class and the teacher so they take her out of class 3 times a week to see senco and have counselling sessions due to her anxiety. she’s also allowed to leave the class when she likes if she’s having a bad tic day so she can work alone which makes me sad to think she’s sad on her own :(

Snickerdoodles19 · 17/02/2023 13:39

@tourettesadhdmum aww bless her it’s no good being stuck on her own, my sons class are aware of his tics and why he behaves the way he does and they know not to purposely torment or wind him up, his teacher told me yesterday though that there’s a particular child in his class that tried to goad him to make him get to that point where he’s not manageable

tourettesadhdmum · 17/02/2023 13:48

@Snickerdoodles19 other kids are so nasty sometimes and then claim they didn’t know it upset them 🙄, my daughter comes home crying most days because someone has said something to her (she’s a very emotional child anyway) so i’m forever at the school trying to find out whether she’s just taken a comment the wrong way or if there’s another kid picking on her again, i’m absolutely dreading secondary school. i hope your son has enough support in school

Snickerdoodles19 · 17/02/2023 14:02

@tourettesadhdmum at the moment he does being in primary but he goes to year 6 next and secondary school is coming quick and it’s making me really worried and stressed as it’s such a volatile environment and I’m worried he’s going to be a target.

tourettesadhdmum · 17/02/2023 14:10

@Snickerdoodles19 that’s the same here, she’s in year 6 next then secondary and because she can’t control her actions etc i feel she’ll be picked on :( i’m going to take her to and from school myself on the days i’m not at work, so she can’t be bullied walking to and from school and i’ll try my hardest to get her the support she needs in school so she knows who she can go to if she needs to. does your son have a decent bunch of friends? hopefully they will be there to help him. my daughter has 2 friends but not sure they’re going the same secondary school and will more than likely be split up from them

Scan date of 14/11 here too, thanks for update and good luck!

Snickerdoodles19 · 17/02/2023 14:35

@tourettesadhdmum i wouldn’t say he has very close friends to be honest but he does get along as best he can with them, I’m unsure as to what school I’m going to send him to next, I’ve been reviewing the Ofsted for all our locals schools and at the moment there’s only 1 that has had good reviews regarding specialist needs.

tourettesadhdmum · 17/02/2023 15:31

@Snickerdoodles19 i need to do that to be honest but we have so much going on i’m going to leave it a little longer and then do my research plus having to be in the right catchment area doesn’t help as my youngest is settled in his primary school and don’t want to move him

Snickerdoodles19 · 17/02/2023 15:39

@tourettesadhdmum yeah definitely have a good look at the Ofsted reports before you make any decisions and always go and see the school before and ask to meet with the senco.

tourettesadhdmum · 17/02/2023 15:40

@Snickerdoodles19 oh i didn’t realise you could do that! i’ll definitely be doing that 😊thank you!

Snickerdoodles19 · 17/02/2023 15:59

@tourettesadhdmum yeah they are on gov.uk, whichever school you want to look at
