It's looking like we're going to need a new thread. Good luck to everyone waiting for a decision. Our scan date is 02/11 so it could be any day now, but most likely another week or two.

Hi Lea. Yeah, we're all going a bit crazy with this. I keep telling myself that there's no point getting stressed about it. What will be, will be. But it's not really working. My DH is working abroad at the moment, and I haven't told anyone else we've applied, so I'm just slowly, silently, losing the plot on my own.

Sometimes I wish I was a rational person!

Oh that must be tough! My husband is all " Oh we will know when we know" kinda thing and in the mean time I'm dreaming about it , and hanging around my letterbox waiting for the post man just in case 🙈
I also haven't told anyone else as I'm not living near my close family at the minute and no one really knows how much of a struggle it is for my daughter. I honestly don't feel like I have the capacity to try and explain to everyone where we are up to, and have them all (well meaningly) tell me what I should or shouldn't be doing to make my child well 🙈

It's just the waiting though... it could be anything, but waiting drives me crazy haha

I also wish I was rational at times 😂

LeaMack · 02/02/2023 17:34

Also the date they have mine down for is 8/11 so I have a while to wait yet it seems. 🙈 I'm going to end up full grey haha

C16 · 02/02/2023 17:50

@LeaMack me too fully grey i know they will have a lot of claims to deal with but surely it shouldnt be taking this long

I'm very lucky. My husband is usually happy for me to endlessly natter on and overthink things at him as much as I need to, but right now he's in a completely different time zone. I bet he's secretly glad about that because he knows I'm obsessing about this!

Yes, exactly, regarding telling other people. It's a whole Conversation isn't it. I don't have the capacity either.

I'm rubbish at waiting for news. Good luck to you.

The best comments I get is oh the joys of having kids! It infuriates me because friends and family members haven’t got a clue what it’s like to raise a special needs/disabled child it really gets me mad.

C16 · 02/02/2023 18:29

If no one minds me asking,Has anyone just received a back payment without a text or letter

Rubydw · 02/02/2023 18:42

Hi I'm new here and trying to catch up with all these posts to be familiar with how this all works. My scan date was 21/11 (if by scan date that is the date they recieved claim) I have had the generic texts/letters like everyone else, saying my claim is still being looked into ect. My question is, do I do anything whilst I wait? I see people are calling but i was told not to call? Does this speed up the process? TIA.

No, it doesn't speed it up at all. When they make a decision, they don't always send a text to alert you. If they don't, then you're looking at potentially waiting another fortnight after the decision is made for a letter. If they accept your application you will get a back payment into your account a few days later (before the letter, usually), but if you're declined you obviously won't get that.

Basically the waiting really gets to you and you get to the point where you just want to know.

That said, I don't know if I will call again or just wait, hopefully, for a text.

Thankyou so much for your help. It is such a long wait and the uncertainty gets to you. Hopefully not much longer to wait, although im not sure on how the waiting timeline works.

I don't think anyone knows, but I imagine it like one of those really long queues where, when you're close to the front you get randomly filtered off into multiple individual queues (each DM). Some move faster than others, and some cases are more complex than others, so people get their answers at roughly the same time but not in exact order. Like the post office. Or IKEA.

That's how I imagine it anyway.

WreckTangled · 02/02/2023 19:18

I always pick the wrong queue 😂

I wouldn’t, it’s not been 12 weeks yet. I’ve seen the odd person from the first couple of dates in November getting awarded on the fb group but mostly it’s still the end of October. I would call in three weeks if you haven’t heard.

I had a dream last night we got awarded MRC. Their own guidance said we should but I’m reading some awful stories on the fb page of people not getting awarded when their dc has quite significant issues.

87SPD · 03/02/2023 07:58

What is this Facebook forum? I can’t seem to find it?

Good luck today everyone xx

WreckTangled · 03/02/2023 08:07

It’s called DLA for children advice and supports. It’s very busy and hectic though I think I’ll leave it once all this is over with 🥴

Chocolateandstrawberries · 31/01/2023 09:00

Mine is renewal though and It runs out on 17/02 it’s getting abit tight. They said to me to call next week but you never know. If it’s done before hand

Hi with regards to renewal do they send the forms to you? When my daughter was accepted she told me to ring in March for renewal pack is this correct?

Snickerdoodles19 · 03/02/2023 09:31

@Hayhoarematthews unless it’s changed no, you usually get renewal form about 5 months before it’s due to end.
