@mammaov3
UC only mind about the care component so I would let them know now. You need to report a change to children and other people who live with you from the date the DLA was awarded telling them which rate he’s getting. This will look at giving you the disabled child premium.

You can also report a change to caring for someone and input his details if you are providing care for more than 35 hours per week. They will then consider you for a carers element. Hope that helps x

mammaov3 · 21/12/2022 14:23

@Hayliebear is there any point claiming carers allowance when they take the difference off your UC anyway?

OP posts:
Hayliebear · 21/12/2022 14:28

@mammaov3

there’s no financial benefit as they take it straight back off your UC. The only benefit is carers allowance credits you with a better rate of national insurance. You can still get the carers element on UC without claiming carers allowance though. They are two separate things

mammaov3 · 21/12/2022 15:22

@Hayliebear oh right okay do you no iff carers element gets taken off uc? and how do i claim for that

OP posts:
Hayliebear · 21/12/2022 15:25

@mammaov3

no, it gets added to your UC. You need to report a change through your account to say you are caring for someone 35+ hours. It will ask for your son’s details and then they verify it and add the carers element to your award.

mammaov3 · 21/12/2022 15:39

@Hayliebear okay thank you for information i will get on two it

Hi all,
First time posting. My daughter has been getting LR care for 2 years. I submitted a change of circs scan date 2nd October to see if can get mobility hoping for lower rate as she does need a lot of guidance and supervision. She is 12 and unable to travel by herself or even go to our corner shop alone. Good luck to everyone who is waiting to hear and congratulations to those who have received positive decisions.

Cody3 · 22/12/2022 13:07

Scan date 16th September for mobility won’t find out until feb total of 21 weeks wait

YouCantBeSirius · 22/12/2022 13:33

Hi everyone, hope nobody minds me joining in. I'm in Scotland so have applied for child disability payment for my 4 year old daughter. Phoned for forms in August, they were scanned into the system on 13th October. I had a webchat with social security Scotland yesterday and they've said there's such a massive backlog because of the roll out we're looking at 6 months plus for a decision 😱the application is apparently in the queue to be allocated to a decision maker.

I didn't send a huge amount of evidence. My daughter is suspected ASD and ADHD. Sent in a letter from her nursery keyworker and a report from the health visitor

Ollie20 · 22/12/2022 14:04

@mammaov3 Thanks you your answer fingers crossed i hear soon. Been such a long wait but i am sure it will be worth it once a decision is made.

MygirlGrace · 22/12/2022 14:36

@Cody3 Thanks I’m prob looking at March then until a decision is made if your form was scanned in 16th September. It’s just the waiting isn’t it can’t rest until we know. I can’t get a school bus pass for her until she is awarded mobility so having to pay weekly for her pass.
