Come and take my mind off it!

Suggest something indulgent we can do to distract ourselves.

My 6yo DS told me this morning that it was hard to make a decision when you are a baby, he said: "The world is very exciting, but it is lovely and snuggly inside your tummy Mummy, it was hard for me to choose. Maybe baby brother is just too cuddly?"

Sniff.

growingweeble no changes! was examined yesterday when i was admitted to hospital for high BP and my cervix is no where near ready for me to go into labor naturally, it would be ages yet, and iv tried just about every home method possible except castor oil and rasberry tea, and iv had 3-4 sweeps and im still here. So im afraid i will DEFINATELY have to be induced thursday and natural labor is out of the question . Oh my god, you are 42 weeks? when are you being induced? you must be so fed up? iv given up on trying to bring it on aswell but that dosent seemed to of worked either, maybe we just have lazy babies!
walnut8 Hi, well if your scared i wish you even more luck, now combined with my magic luck and your 200th post, your sure to start naturally! all the best.
morloth aww how sweet of him. maybe your baby is just to comfy in there!

sprogger i know the feeling, so many false alarms and dissapointments leaves you feeling so impatient and inflated! you get tired of thinking "is this really it" but then it never is...rgghh

Walnut8 · 23/03/2010 16:16

Morloth that is gorgeous

Tiggz thursday isn't far away now ... (I'm sure it actually feels like years away). I know induction won't be that bad, I'm just being a wimp. I've also tried every home induction method possible (and some multiple times!!) ... not castor oil though. Yugh. 3-4 sweeps is a lot!

Growingweeble are you still being induced on Friday?

tiggz · 23/03/2010 16:25

walnut8 I know, not long now, your not being a wimp, he thought of it is pretty scary, but i just keep thinking, its the only way im going to get my baby! No i really dont want to try castor oil, one its disgusting and two theres no point aparently it does the same thing as a curry would...irritates your bowels, and iv ate currys so im not going to put myself through the horror of trying it ha ha! I know its alot, and i will NOT have anymore, tired of going through the uncomfortable experience with no result other then being sore. when are you being induced?

growingweeble · 23/03/2010 16:27

Poor you Tiggz. I read about your high BP on your other thread. I hope all is well on Thursday. If nothing happens before then, I'll be shortly following you on Friday.

Walnut8--Friday induction, unless needed before... or labour starts on its own!

tiggz · 23/03/2010 16:40

growingweeble thankyou ever so much. I really hope you start naturally, and i wish you all the best, but whatever happens we will both definately have our long waited for babies this week (too long waiting if you ask me lol)

Walnut8 · 23/03/2010 16:55

Tiggz just read your other thread, hope your BP settles down, how scary. And how annoying for all those sweeps to have done nothing! I have an induction booked for saturday.

tiggz · 23/03/2010 17:01

walnut8 thanks alot yes iknow. very annoying! I just wish they'd start me of now. Do you think i'd be able to request it? I reallt do hope you go in naturally. What is it thats worrying you about being induced?

kay1980 · 23/03/2010 18:07

Hello ladies well I went for a sweep today and my cervix is nowhere near ready just like you tiggz its so frustratng! They will try again on Friday but they have booked me in for induction on Monday night I'm just hoping that I start on my own before then. If anyone else asks me if there's any signs or whether I'm still here think I'll scream!!

tiggz · 23/03/2010 18:19

kay1980 it is the most frustrating thing, i dont understand why some peoples cervix are ready but ours arent, its not fair we'v waited our 40weeks rggh. good luck anyway!

Walnut8 · 23/03/2010 18:29

Tiggz I'm a bit naive about this whole childbirth thing, so not much help But sounds like you've got some good advice about requesting it on your other thread? It's hard to be pushy though, I know.

Kay that is really frustrating! Things seem to be able to change so quickly though - how overdue are you now?

tiggz · 23/03/2010 18:40

walnut8 yh im going to call them now, hopefully they listen and change their mind, i just hate being pushy!

happy2bme · 24/03/2010 08:24

hello all

i'm 40 weeks today - so thought i'd come to say hi and join in the waiting game. - best wishes to those of you due more imminently.

kay1980 · 24/03/2010 09:12

Walnut8 I'm 6 days overdue today but I have decided that instead of moaning about it now I am going to try and enjoy my last three days of peace and quiet as my DD finishes school on Friday for two and half weeks for easter so I should enjoy some 'me' time while I can

Neeko · 24/03/2010 09:13

I'm 40+1 today and totally fed up so thought I'd drop in and say hi!

Donkeyswife · 24/03/2010 09:25

I got terribly distressed when I went overdue by 13 days with dc1. In fact I went a bit loopy thinking the reason he wasn't coming out is because he didn't want me to be his mummy .

In retrospect, I should have just caught up on sleep, chocolates, dvds and had dh running around after me like a diva. Instead I took it upon my self to assemble the cot and pram and do major cleaning including clearing out the shed. Not recommended.

Frustrating as going overdue is, try and treat yourself to all those nice little things you want to do but feel guilty about doing! x

Walnut8 · 24/03/2010 11:59

Hi Neeko and happy2bme! Tiggz hope you're okay today and managed to get somewhere this morning with the consultant. I'm hoping that as we haven't heard from you, you are in hospital being induced right now??

Great idea Kay Have you got anything much planned? In a similar sort of vein I'm trying to work up the energy to go and get my nails done and eyelashes tinted ... have been really tired & teary this morning though, not much motivation to do anything.

Thanks for the advice donkeyswife ... I'm eating a lot of guilt-free chocolate - does that count?

Neeko · 24/03/2010 13:31

I did loads of cleaning, bouncing on my birthing ball and walking yesterday to no avail. Today I'm spending the time that DD is at nursery with my feet up, eating mini eggs and browsing MN. No point punishing myself further.

Thanks for the welcome Walnut8How over are you?

Has anyone found anything that works to get things moving? (Other than a hormone drip or c-section )

Walnut8 · 24/03/2010 14:34

Neeko, sounds like me last week . All of those things give me braxton hicks but nothing else. There was a thread recently here about how to bring on labour, and I've tried most of it but I've found nothing that works!

I'll be 11 days over today.

heavydutyjudy · 24/03/2010 14:50

hello ladies,

re the ones who are fearing induction, I was induced last week, and it was absolutely fine...came on very quick with the first pessary and was in the labour suite a couple of hours later...the drip did get a bit intense at times, but nothing a bit of gas and air and diamorphine didn't cope with...ended up with a CS unfortunately, but have a beautiful baby boy, aleksandr.

I realised afterwards that no matter how the birth is, even if not what you wanted, it doesn't matter...

good luck all
x

tiggz · 24/03/2010 15:34

Hi all im still here 40+12days rgggh

walnut8 no iv gotten nowhere so they are just still going to induce me tomorow...what a pain, i ended up in hospital last night for a couple hours for general monitoring as i had diaareah, then came home last night, and then today to top it all of i have a bloody water infection, so my stomache hurts and i constantly feel as thoug i need to pee! And i get induced tmorow, im sooo fed up, if they'd of induced me ages ago i wouldnt be sat here feeling like crap with a bludy water infection!

hope all of you arent here for much longer x

growingweeble · 24/03/2010 16:26

heavydutyjudy--thank you so much for taking the time to let us know that your induction was not the dreaded scenario I for one am fearing. Very thoughtful of you.

Tiggz, looks like I'll be joining you tomorrow as bought forward from Friday because the hospital is fully booked for inductions then.

tiggz · 24/03/2010 17:08

growingweeble well i wish you all the best. good luck x
