Come and take my mind off it!

Suggest something indulgent we can do to distract ourselves.

tiggz I'm so sorry, that sounds crap Especially the trip to the hospital last night.
BUT huge good luck for tomorrow, you get to hold your baby soon!

And good luck also to you growingweeble!! I hope everything goes smoothly and quickly for both of you.

kay1980 · 24/03/2010 18:53

Walnut8 I'm not sure really what I will do having a down day today I think I'm so fed up with daytime telly! I'm reading a good book at the mo so tomorrow I think I will take some time to read that I love reading but doubt I will have any time when the little one eventually arrives! I really feel for you who are 11+ days over I feel guilty for moaning about being a measly 6 days over!

Sorry if TMI but I've just been to the loo and passed loads of mucus when I wiped don't think its a show because there was no blood in it or anything. Feeling a little bit crampy and having fairly strong braxton hicks but no doubt I'll wake up tomorrow morning and feel fine

tiggz · 24/03/2010 21:23

kay1980 Tom me that sounds like a good sign, and im not too sure so dont quote me, but im pretty sure your show or mucus plug, has to have colour to it. I hope its the start of somthing for you. dont feel bad, we all feel just as fed up as each other!
walnut8 Thanyou ever so much, i think thats the only thought thats getting me through the days, Im pretty scared now im nearly there about all the pains though!! and i hope your not here for much longer!

Loosemo · 24/03/2010 21:35

Ladies, so nice to know that I am not alone!

I am 40 + 8 with DC3 and am right royally cheesed off. My previous 2 were both 6 days over, so naively wasn't really expecting to go this far. I did wake up this morning and say to DH "Ooh, I've never been this pregnant before!" trying to start the day on a positive note, but I really am tired, fat and fed up!

I wonder why I am unable to relax and enjoy this time? Having done it twice before I'm surprised that I still feel anxious.

PotPourri · 25/03/2010 13:14

I was on this thread when it first opened up. I tried all the old wives tales to no avail and was induced (for hte 4th time!) weeble it was fine.

I feel your pain, but honestly, once the baby is here you will totally forget the wait - it's bizarre. I used to get really annoyed when people told me to enjoy the quiet and try to rest before the baby came, so I'm not going to tell you to do that. But I will say that I wish I had done that, as I've had all bloody hell break loose in my house since the day DC4 was born with a list as long as my arm of illnesses and crises that my other children have had.

Incidentally, big long walks did get me moving third time as I got to 3cm all on my ownsome. And DO NOT do castor oil or prune juice - it's just nasty!!

QueenG · 25/03/2010 13:43

I'm going out of my mind!!!

I'm 40 weeks +7 today with my second. First was only 4 days overdue. I thought the second was supposed to come quicker!!! I had twinges weeks ago, so I was convinced she was coming early. So really I have been thinking; 'today could be the day', for about a month..... arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

My first was a homebirth and such a lovely experience. I believe they won't let me have a homebirth if I go over 10 days. Can they really insist I go to hospital?

I've tried everything several times over curry, s*x, pinapple juice, long walks, bouncing on my ball, trampolining, rasperry leaf...

What to do next...

Morloth · 25/03/2010 16:22

Baby Morloth has been served his eviction notice for next Wednesday.

He will be out before then. Cheeky little bugger is still up above my pelvis having a lovely swim.

Indaba · 25/03/2010 17:51

Had two inductions & one non-induced birth. Both inductions were fab. Recommend it every time! Can't generalise but for me....inductions rock!

Indaba · 25/03/2010 17:56

Sorry...I hit post before I should have done. I am not saying everyone should be induced....but I saw a post where someone was fearful about induction and I was just trying to put their mind at rest. I stuck out first pregnancy to nearly 42 weeks....saw loads and loads of movies!.....fab! Good luck everyone. (By the way in France, they assume due date is at 41 weeks (not 40) so you may not be as overdue as you think.....yikes).

Em3 · 25/03/2010 20:20

Hot tip for bringing on labour is to eat a whole fresh pineapple it worked well for me with DC3 it makes your tongue tingle, castor oil is a definate no no. Good luck!

downbutnotout · 25/03/2010 22:09

I feel for you - ds was 10 days overdue and I was climbing the walls. Imho the worst part was having to struggle with the urge to shriek: "NO I FUCKING HAVEN'T!!!" to the billionth person to say to me each day: "Haven't you had that baby yet?". It makes you want to barricade yourself in at home after a while.

Fwiw, bouncing on my birthing ball seemed to do the trick in the end. Good luck!

all4u · 26/03/2010 11:34

Hey guys! Been there seen it done it (well not the sweets actually!).
Top tip
If you want your body to go easy on you during the big B then spend this time becoming totally submissive to the sid eof your brain that runs the whole show. This is soon to take you over and shut you down. If you get on board by drinking water when it says thirsty, sleeping when it says tired, whatever then you are much more likely to get an easy time of it.

If you are a first timer you will give your brain time to sort out what it is supposed to do here. If a second or later it will most likely know so don't get in the way. If your body is a real dunce about the whole process thank your lucky stars that you are living in the here and now. In fact, come to think of it - just do the latter as we are so lucky it is humbling. Just think of those poor women who died post partum because the male doctors couldn't see why they should wash their hands after handling dead tissue in the path lab before poking about inside labouring women.....
And you will soon hold that special special little person in your arms! Watch One Born Every Minute on C4OD to get you in the mood...
Best wishes

Hi gang !
Little Logan arrived on the23.3.10 at 13.56 weighing 8 lbs and 10 ozs !
Went in for induction on the Monday unfortunately, had the prostin but not the drip, meconium stage 2, had to stay in, little logi had tohave blood tests and cultures plus canullar for antibiotics, anyway blood tests came back today all clear and we were allowed home.
I don't recommend induction, but he madeit outsafely in the end and that is what I do recommend !
So much for a natural water birth.... I had an epidural in the end, but still managed to push him out without any serious damage

Xxx

Arcadie · 26/03/2010 14:56

Hello! Arrived over from March AN thread. Due today but no sign so just checking in and saying hi! You'll be seeing a lot of me over the next fortnight! This is DC3 for me. Have been induced both times for DS and DD as they were both 14 days over.

Will do some reading back to see whats the what.

and to everyone from March AN

Walnut8 · 26/03/2010 15:19

back at Arcadie.

Congrats Joanne! Sorry to hear your induction wasn't great but glad baby is well.

Any more news Kay??

Thanks Indaba for your positive "recommendation" for induction!

Hi to everyone else!

QueenG · 26/03/2010 18:37

Hi Everyone,

Congratulations Joanne. Sorry to hear about the complications, but glad you and little Logan are ok.

I'm still waiting, now 40 +8....but I'll wait as long as it takes, as long as she arrives safe & well in the end.

Gx

Neeko · 27/03/2010 10:07

Congrats Joanne Glad it all ended well and lovely name.

40+4 here. Going for a big walk today. Still having lots of cramps though no contractions. Fingers crossed. Good luck all.

Morloth · 27/03/2010 13:52

Done!

Baby Morloth, 9lbs, Friday evening.

Arcadie · 27/03/2010 17:27

Well done Morloth.

Nowt happening here. 1 stretch and sweep down. 1 or two more to go (eg next Weds) ...

Husband reduced to a source of prostaglandins. Poor DH...

Neeko · 27/03/2010 17:57

Well done Morloth

lol at "Husband reduced to a source of prostaglandins" Arcadie

Arcadie · 27/03/2010 19:49

I know Neeko but it's kind of true atm..... He is being very lovely and supportive so I do feel more than a little fond of him but if truth be told the "husband bouncing" is less to do with the desire to be intimate and more to do with the desire to dilate, efface and generally get a move on.

Anyone ever worked out how to do a stretch and sweep on themselves?

kay1980 · 28/03/2010 08:36

Hi everyone Sophie Alys arrived safely on Thursday night at 9.15 birth story here if you want to read.

Congratulations Joanne and sorry to all of you still waiting look forward to hearing your good news very shortly.

Neeko · 28/03/2010 11:48

Congratulations Kaye Arcadie I was thinking that about a streetch and sweep in the shower this morning! Think you'd have to have arms like Mr Tickle though!

globalmummy · 29/03/2010 11:41

Hi ladies,

Still hanging around one week on. Congratulations to everyone who has produced already. S&S last Friday did absolutely zilch; having another on Wednesday, booked in for induction on Saturday, so may yet have an Easter baby.

Anyone else doing a lot of sleeping? After rushing around like a mad thing for 2 weeks after I stopped work I have now become the laziest person on the planet...thought a burst of activity was supposed to be a sign, not the opposite...

Arcadie · 29/03/2010 17:25

Hey Global Sending good, productive S&S vibes to you for Weds. I should have my 2nd one on Weds as well.....
