Come and take my mind off it!

Suggest something indulgent we can do to distract ourselves.

BellasYummyMummy · 15/03/2010 07:35

congrats four!!!

so who is with us this morning then? I havent even had a twinge since my sweep yesterday, and DH has just left for work- really didnt think he'd be in this week! I am about to get DD up and drop her off at the childminders in a few hours. What shall i do with myself today?

Getting worried that being this far over means the baby is getting bigger and bigger each day- please reassure me this isnt the case! Id love to have an easy labour!!!

MrsCurly · 15/03/2010 09:51

Congratulation Four, and what a lovely name!

See, this thread has great endings! Everyone starts off grumpy but ends up happy.

Well, 41 weeks today-apparently !?
Dp has taken day off for me, which is lovely. I can't believe I had nothing atall last night, only slight spotting. No pains at all. Possible 3rd sweep on wednesday, but I can't see the point in that, if 2 haven't worked then surely a 3rd won't !
So it's heading toward induction and I can't help now to start feeling depressed, that I have failed somewhere.

BellasYummyMummy · 15/03/2010 11:09

Dont get depressed joanne!! Someone was telling me in france they let you go 3 weeks over!!! eeeek!!! i keep telling myself the baby is obviously very comfy, though tbh i feel like i'm never going to have it!

Nice that your DP has taken the day off! Will be nice for you to spend some quality time together. My DH just rang me from work and asked if i wanted to meet for lunch which sounds really nice! But then we decided maybe not a good idea as its a half hours drive and this will be my last monday where i have a few hours peace and quiet.

Dont you have another week before induction? my hospital do from days 10-14 so i have a few days before the phone rings. Well technically tomorrow is day 10 but the midwife cant count and said it would be wednesday day 10 but thats fine i wasnt going to correct her...!

chin up! enjoy this lovely sunshine!

BellasYummyMummy · 15/03/2010 16:38

silly me, been getting all excited as i've been losing my plug today (don't you just love the openess on this thread?!). But i know it doesnt mean labour is immanent. I wish it did. Still excited to see that SOMETHING is happening, i was beginning to think maybe i wasnt pregnant afterall.
My DD is driving me insane. you'd think that would be enough to get me into labour. hurry home DH!

growingweeble · 15/03/2010 16:46

Excellent news that things are getting ready. It must be nice to have a sign that things are going in the right direction.

Are you feeling stronger? Maybe your body was just waiting until you'd shifted your cold a bit? Clever things these bodies of ours.

heavydutyjudy · 15/03/2010 17:00

hello, am new on here...40 + 8, and fairly pissed off...have got induction booked for weds, but hoping to beat it as this is my first baby.

woke up at 2am with regular mild contractions that kept me awake all night (have had show since a sweep on friday) but since has died down...any idea what's going on? There are clearly experts on here!

tiggz · 15/03/2010 17:16

i lost my plug and prayed things were about to start moving. But three weeks l8r here i am over due. hopefully yours will start within the next 48 hours. its most likely will or its come dislodged early like mine.

BellasYummyMummy · 15/03/2010 19:14

well i dont think they'll let me go another 3 weeks lol, im already 9 days late!

heavyduty i'm no expert, having a baby is so different for everyone, every time! some people have contractions on/off for days. Hopefully thats not the case with you. surprised you have an induction booked for 10 days over, is that what you want?

my friend is 5 days late and i swear she is going to have her baby before me. she told me about 4 hours ago her braxton hicks are every 15 mins and take her breath away which to me sound like contractions!!! i was in line first! lol.

dont know if i can be bothered to have a bath.

mad4mainecoons · 15/03/2010 20:32

Hi Ladies,

this thread is definetly lucky.

My DD arrived saturday morning at 10.13am 8Lb 14 and born at home.

friday morning i went for a swim in desparation as i read that breaststroke helps to move baby down into the right position, followed by some between the sheets action with my DH. the theory being that prostaglandins in semen help to stimulate labour. and something must have worked as the Cx started within hours of the sex

so i got to 41+2, but it did happen naturally in the end.

good luck to those of you still waiting.x

tiggz · 16/03/2010 00:18

oh sorry "bellasyummymummy"didnt realise u were that over lol. well ud hope they wouldnt let u got three more weeks, that would be agony! Could you imagine how irritable you'd get!
congragulations "mad4mainecoons"
Does anyone know if havin a larger baby is harder than a smaller? and whats the most common amount of days overdue they induce u at?

BellasYummyMummy · 16/03/2010 06:05

congrats mad4mainecoons! im not even going to attempt sex with DH, am way too sore and swollen down below!

ugh day 10, cant believe im still here.

tiggz, i think it depends what hospital you go to, or if your planning a home birth or MLU. my hospital start inducing from day 10-14.

i think size of baby can be misleading. you could have a 'big' baby in terms of weight, but it could be a long baby. I would have thought the head circumference would be the most important factor iykwim as the rest of the body just follows through. obviously a 6lb baby would be easier than an 10lbs baby (she says uncertainly...?).

tiggz · 16/03/2010 14:45

heya. thanku "bellasyummymummy" 10days already, poor you!
Im 4days over today and had my 3rd attempted sweep, now got induction booked for when im 13days over, too long if you ask me!whens your induction booked for?
Thanx for the advice on the big baby thing, im hoping havin a bigger baby dosent mean your more likely to tear.

heavydutyjudy · 16/03/2010 17:57

hi bellas,

The hospital just gave me a date for induction automatically 10 days after my due date, which I had hoped to beat. But tbh, this is my first baby, and I don't have a strong opinion about it. I guess if I had strongly not wanted to be induced at 10 + that would been fine.
I got checked last night and am not dilated much yet, but in quite a bit of pain, although they won;t take me in...am now glad I have got a deadline of tomorrow, cos I've barely slept and just want to see the baby now. I've now been in early labour for 24 hours and it hurts much more than I thought it would at this stage...bring on the drugs ;-)

FourLittleDucks · 16/03/2010 19:12

Hello All,
I know I strictly shouldn't be on here because I have had the baby but haven't bothered to find the postnatal thread yet, and feel like the overdue thread was a real comfort last week so want to hear how you all are !!!

Bellas - I'm amazed at your patience, considering we were at the same stage....! well done, and hope DD isn't driving you too crazy today....lets keep our fingers crossed for something to happen tonight.

Just to wholeheartedly recommend a water birth to you all - hadn't really planned it but there was a pool available so just went for it. Its worth asking when you phone triage because in my experience (got a pool for DD1 but didn't actually use it), the rooms with birthing pools are bigger than normal, which is lovely !

anyway, have managed to slouch backwards so resting wee Annie on my chest while I type with two hands...!

Love to you all and hope you're not all too depressed - its like waiting for Christmas isn't it, but never being sure when its going to come...

BellasYummyMummy · 16/03/2010 19:16

hello fourlittles! wonderful to hear from you, and that the water birth was good! i tried a water birth with DD but got out after 10 mins! maybe ill try this time...!

tigzz have replied to your other thread, hope you are feeling a bit better about things.

heavyduty- good that you have a date and something to focus on. Baby will be here very soon! my hospital are a bit rubbish, i will get a phone call anytime in the next 5 days. ill just twiddle my thumbs and sit by the phone then!

been in tears most of today. Just exhausted, not feeling well, fed up, DD driving me potty etc etc.
Going to have a bath now, hope you all have a good night x

joanne34 · 16/03/2010 20:00

Hi ladies, I'm still here too. Induction due for next Monday. Possible 3rd sweep tomorrow, if I can be bothered !
I was planning a water birth, but that won't happen if I reach induction day ! I think now I just want my baby!

Bella did you have induction first time ?
Apparently 2nd time mums, are started with arm, which alone may start the progress of labour.......the rest may happen by itself.
Anyway your not alone ! We'll have our wrinkled little bubbies soon!

tiggz · 16/03/2010 20:16

"bellas"
thanx for the reply. Have you tried getting on to the hospitals back about it? im sorry to hear your feeling that way, just know that your not alone and i think all of us overdue ladies are starting to get that way. I really do hope that you'll be put out of your misery very soon and you'll have a beautiful baby. xxx
"joanne34"
i know the feeling i had my 3rd one today, still looks like your gonna beat me to having a baby though, i still have no pains and my induction isnt until 1week thursday .
Does anyone know after having a sweep how long it'l take to determine whether it has worked or not? Even though its my 3rd one my memory is terrible lol.

joanne34 · 16/03/2010 20:53

Tiggz up to 72 hours supposedly !

So positive vibes to you all, may your sleep be disrupted by regular contractions !

tiggz · 16/03/2010 20:58

Ok thanku. So thats me on my toes for the next 72 hours, jumping at every single niggle thinking "is this it?" ha ha. And yes i hope my sleep is disrupted, although once i start getting contractions il probably wish i wasnt disrupted lol.

tiggz · 17/03/2010 22:42

just wondering if bellasyummymummy has had her baby yet??

joanne34 · 18/03/2010 03:40

Bellasmum ??
Well I'm still here anyway!

BellasYummyMummy · 18/03/2010 07:23

morning ladies!!! i hope some of you have had bump liberation since i was last on...

delighted to say my second daughter, eloise scarlett, literally flew into the world yesterday at 525am! I woke at 3am with very painful contractions, DH woke up 10 mins later by which point i had had 4! didnt think we'd make it to the hospital, i literally was on my hands and knees crawling through the main entrance!
examined, 8cm by 430! wanted pain relief but even i knew there was no time, contractions every 1-2 mins. I had her after 7mins of pushing. Never experienced anything like it in my life. All gas and air, not the epidural birth i had wanted! but it was the most amazing thing to be up ad walking around after, and i feel so amazing. Only a very small first degree tear and she was 9lbs 4oz!!!!! So it can be done. I was able to go home 8 hours later. Am very tired as breastfeeding is a struggle, but wishing you all the best xx

growingweeble · 18/03/2010 08:51

Bella's, that is fantastic news. Well done and congratulations! I know short births can be overwhelming, but wonderful that you are now at home enjoying your new baby girl and that everything went smoothly.

Very encouraging for those of us still waiting. Probably having a sweep this pm, but am pretty sure baby is posterior so I may put it off and see if I can move her.

Sunbeam99 · 18/03/2010 09:50

Hello all, I'm new to this. But I was just Reading through all the comments of ladies in a similar situation, which makes me feel a little better. I'm four days overdue with first baby, it's so frustrating isn't it!!
Thinking about going shopping today, think a bit of retail therapy might cheer me up and also being an hour or so away from home will be tempting fate !!! ..I think I've tried everything else to get this show on the road, just end up feeling knackered and still no contractions!! Good luck to all you ladies due this week or overdue and waiting...... Xxx
