Come and take my mind off it!

Suggest something indulgent we can do to distract ourselves.

hello just being a bit nosy - I am not joining you guys yet but might be in a couple of weeks (by which time, hopefully, you won't be here! ) and just wanted to say madcatz how much you just made me laugh - so thanks for that. I would say a minute long trump might be a record - where's norris mcgwerter when you need him eh?

booboomonster · 13/05/2010 22:24

hope it all happens soon for you - sending labour vibes....

madcatsazz · 13/05/2010 22:55

thanks boob, glad I made some people laugh tonight. Weasle, like you I have declined induction for the time being (40+9 today) and opting for expectant management instead. Saw consultant today and he was surprisingly supportive. I feel your pain though, it's so disheartening to find no progress every day. At least you are having BH so you can convince yourself that something is happening. I don't seem to get BH and just feel the same as I did 10 weeks ago. Felt really blue this evening but heres hoping....

belly36 · 14/05/2010 09:56

Madcatz, I'm still here too. Yesterday I had lots of cramping and lots of goo (sorry TMI) so I thought, this is it. Today feel fine lol.

I haven't had a single BH, but then I never did first time around either.

I think I will decline induction too...

Hope it happens for you soon

madcatsazz · 14/05/2010 10:07

thanks belly - I'm feeling really crappy today. This waiting game is getting tough.

KatnKankles · 14/05/2010 13:38

madcat. 40+2 here, loads of contractions but nothing regular and no 'goo' at all!

Seeing mw in an hour but they don't do a sweep until you are a week late so not expecting anything exciting to happen.

I have an appt at 40+10 to discuss induction if I'm still here... I don't think I will be but not sure whether I would be strong enough to resist the lure of induction by then. Especially as it's my 4th and would probably just require ARM rather than loads of drugs...

Lots of runs and wind here too . I scared my DD2 yesterday with the loudest fart ever.. she looked pretty horrified and that's good going for a 6 year old who finds these things amusing.

madcatsazz · 14/05/2010 14:14

to scare your DD with a fart - that's funny

Every day it gets harder to resist that induction - it's only the fear of being immobile on a bed that stops me! And sheer laziness because it would mean I had to be proactive instead of moping

40+10 and counting.......

weasle · 14/05/2010 18:56

madcat, sorry you are still waiting too.

saw MW, she easily agreed to delaying induction until i am 42 weeks, but my blood pressure was a bit high so that might mean no home birth anyway! have to go to hospital over weekend for repeat bp and monitoring . had a sweep, lots of BH now, just got ds1 &2 to bed early so off for a walk up a steep hill to see if i can get things going.

madcatsazz · 14/05/2010 19:32

oooh, good luck. Keep us updated - even if it does mean another one off to have their baby before me!!

GoldenGreen · 15/05/2010 16:48

Signing in as due today.

I am somewhat surprised to be here as ds was born at 39+5 and I somehow got the idea that my second labour would be earlier. Also dates must be right as it is an IVF pregnancy. But having read a few posts on this thread it looks like there are loads of second timers going overdue!

Am trying very hard to relax and tell myself that it's natural to go to 42 weeks - but have home birth all planned and can feel myself getting stressed out every so often at the thought of being induced.

Overanalysing every twinge at the moment but like many of you the cause always seems to be wind

KatnKankles · 15/05/2010 17:17

Hi GG.

This is my 4th, surely she should have just popped out at 40 weeks!

It's miserable isn't it - I don't feel like I can make any plans and I don't particularly feel like going anywhere particularly as my last labour was VERY quick so if it starts I will probably have to rush to the hospital.

Labour vibes to us all xx

weasle · 15/05/2010 20:50

Baaah, no movement here! Mild contractions this time yesterday disappeared but have had a show today.

GG, my second was born at 38+5 so i am very surprised to still be pregnant at 41 weeks now. Also stressed about not getting my planned home birth.

Have to go to hospital tomorrow to check my blood pressure but it is bound to be up as i'm so anxious about them telling me i have to stay in or something. thinking of asking them for another sweep tomorrow...

madcatsazz · 16/05/2010 10:22

Hi GG, Kat and Weasle - don't fret, I'm still here too and I'm 40+13 today. Not even a twinge. Been trying everything, even doing the deed - but to no avail. I'm trying not to get too disheartened but I'm starting to question if everything is ok, why doesn't my body work, why isn't she coming yet? Is she in the right position....the list goes on. Like some of you others, DD1 came at 39+5 so I am really surprised to be here still. Bah, this waiting is so hard......

GoldenGreen · 16/05/2010 10:33

The waiting is rubbish, isn't it? Weasle, a show sounds good...hope all went ok with our blood pressure check.

Had some period type pains last night and got very over excited but all came to nothing. Had a crap night's sleep as well, despite my usual heartburn and SPD pains not actually being that bad!

Will attempt a positive frame of mind today (though doesn't help when people are already texting every day just to ask if the baby's here - like I wouldn't have told them!)

madcatsazz · 16/05/2010 15:06

GG - really is rubbish. Just been for a nice walk in the woods to take my mind off things - but it's hard when walking makes you ache so much and all I want to do now is slump down somewhere comfortable but it the name of speeding things up, I'm meant to 'stay active'. If it's any consolation, the phone calls and texts have slowed down somewhat now for me as I have told the same people repeatedly that I will let them know when anything happens and I think they all got the hint!!

Anyway, hope the positive frame of mind has stayed.

madcatsazz · 16/05/2010 15:11

I meant to say the waiting really is rubbish, not that GG is rubbish!

madcatsazz · 16/05/2010 15:12

the waiting

LilyBolero · 16/05/2010 15:34

Can I sign in as well - am 41wks today. Feeling really crappy - not sleeping, huge amounts of heartburn etc, loads of BH and pelvic pain, just no baby!

I wasn't totally expecting it on time - my 1st 3 were 12 days, 14 days and 8 days over, so anytime from now wouldn't be a surprise. Am booked for a homebirth (ds1 was in hospital, but then had dd and ds2 at home), so am hoping things get moving soon!

The thing that is really getting me down is being unable to cuddle my children, as is too uncomfortable with the bump! I can't wait to give all 4 of them a big snuggle! Ds2 has just turned 4, and doesn't really understand why he has to be gentle, and the older 2 (8 and 6 respectively) still like their cuddles! They are VERY impatient too!

madcatsazz · 16/05/2010 17:08

Hey Lily - with regards to cuddling, I find if I get on the sofa and lean against the left side with cushions, put right leg along the sofa, put left leg forward on footstool, dd can lay across my legs (with more cushions for support) whilst I play with her hair. I can do this for all of 5 minutes before being uncomfortable but at least I get my cuddle. That or we lay on our sides with her in front of me (kinda spoon like)and I can almost get an arm over her. It really sucks doesn't it? It's always nice to see people signing in on this thread though because I feel like I've been here forever and people keep disappearing - I'm sure they're secretly having their babies and not telling me

weasle · 16/05/2010 20:02

thanks for best wishes, bp eventually OK after 20 mins reading paper (initially was very high!) and urine OK. Persuaded midwife to do another sweep and she said cervix seemed very favourable and thought i was very near. lots of BH since, but nothing more.

yes, looking forward to having a lap again for cuddles, and to be rid of the heartburn. it is much much better on ranitidine though, you can take it in pregnancy i didn't realise that for previous pregnancies.

off to have a bath and then do my natal hypnotherapy cd, good labour wishes to you all.

KatnKankles · 16/05/2010 23:47

I'm getting loads of contractions.. they wake me up at night but no regularity to them

Madcat, really feel for you, surely can't be much longer now!!

in 15 mins I'll be 40+5. The longest I've gone is 40+6 so hope it won't be much longer.

madcatsazz · 17/05/2010 08:43

Ohh, good luck Kat - I hope this means for something - crazy as it sounds, I'm longing for just one tiny contraction. Anything to indicate there really is a childbirth pending in this body of mine!

Off for yet another midwife appt in a bit so hopefully she'll do an exam and tell me I'm 3cm dilated and if I sneeze too hard, the baby will pop out!

GoldenGreen · 17/05/2010 08:46

still sounds positive, weasle, hope it all happens for you today - and for everyone else too

Lily, if I've read that right, you still got a homebirth at 14 days over, which gives me great hope

My heartburn is still mysteriously absent which I am very thankful for as it was awful a few days ago

I like your technique for getting cuddles, madcat - will try that with ds!

LilyBolero · 17/05/2010 08:47

I'm seeing my mw this afternoon - am now 40+8, which is the earliest I have ever delivered (ds2). Last night I woke up at 4am, with real contraction like feelings, but didn't come to anything . Hopefully it's all doing something though.

I'm just SO fed up! And feel it's so unfair that some people deliver early, when people who go late have this torture!

LilyBolero · 17/05/2010 08:49

GoldenGreen - yes, dd was born at home 14 days over. I saw the consultant at 41 wks, he said all was well and was happy to leave it, I was booked to see him at 42+1 just to check up on things, but she was born by then. My mw has delivered a HB at 43 wks!

I don't think I want to hold out much beyond the 12 days this time though (should it go that long) - I'm TOO fed up!
