Come and take my mind off it!

Suggest something indulgent we can do to distract ourselves.

Well my induction is booked for tomorrow evening. Hopefully will have a baby by Wednesday!

katgod · 26/04/2010 13:46

after my post above re propess not working it turnes out it had fallen out! waters broken by midwife just before midnight, Helena born 1.50 am. discharged at 5am. all well. one handed typing not the best! is worthy the wait, and yes when it starts you do just know it is the real thing!!

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 26/04/2010 17:56

katgod congratulations, and enjoy your little one!

themacsmum · 26/04/2010 18:59

katgod and mumpheobs - huge congratulations and what lovely names you've picked.

lwnewmum · 26/04/2010 20:56

Well done katgod congratulations.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 27/04/2010 09:32

Well, I'm still here and still overdue... My mother has been and gone, without seeing the baby - next deadline to miss is midwife visit on thursday.

I'm hoping baby will come before then because I really, really don't want a sweep - I'm not holding out much hope though as am having absolutely no "signs" whatsover!

supersuz · 27/04/2010 10:44

Congrats katgod. The name is lovely.
I'm 40+6 today. Went to docs yesterday and got sent up to hosp cos they thought I might have been leaking fluid but I got sent home (painful examinations yesterday). Told I have a very posterior cervix. Looks like induction for me which is scheduled for Monday
Goodluck lwnewmum for tonight.

themacsmum · 28/04/2010 12:40

Just had sweep at 40+5 so fingers crossed please ladies. Really don't want to have to be induced for the second time if I can help it.
Good luck supersuz - there's still plenty of time for cervix to mover between now and Monday - did MW work out your overall Bishop's score as this can indicate how ready your body is with cervix position as just one factor.

mum2phoebs · 28/04/2010 13:02

Katgod - Congratulations!! Helena is a lovely name!

supersuz · 28/04/2010 22:53

Just had to google Bishop's score. MW didn't tell me it but she did say I was a long way off. Had a bad evening. Piles are now huge and the swollen sinus in my nose is driving me mad.
I have my fingers crossed for you the macsmum. How long will they leave you before induction?

themacsmum · 29/04/2010 01:27

Worth checking in your notes for your Bishop's score supersuz as mine is on an extra page added at the back.
Apparantly I will get a call from hospital on Monday (40+10) re: date for induction and then I can discuss with them whether I want to go in sooner rather than later. Sounds like an improvement from when I had DS in 2005 when I was sent a letter from hospital literally a couple of days after EDD telling me when I was booked in for an induction with no mention of choice or discussion.

flybynight · 29/04/2010 09:40

Hi

I'm 40+5 today and headed for a sweep this afternoon. I doubt it will work - I was induced with DC3 a few years ago and my cervix was tight closed and posterior when they put the gel on at 40+9. It was only a 20 minute active labour though.

I can't really complain, I'm in perfect health and mobile. But I did want a home birth this time, and my chances of that are evaporating. I've had quite a prolonged pre-labour. I have a couple of hours of painful contractions most nights, then they stop suddenly. Its a pest. I just want to get on with it! But if you are reading this, I dare say you know what I mean....

themacsmum · 29/04/2010 17:55

Hi flybynight

Know exactly what you mean about pre-labour- its exhausting.
Fingers crossed that your sweep works. No change for me yet - think baby is very comfy

lwnewmum · 29/04/2010 18:14

Keep up the good spirits overdue mums. Naomi Jane was born this morning, 13 days late and 33 hours after induction! You'll get there (probably without any help from any if the oldwives tales... I tried them all and none did the trick!) x

mum2phoebs · 30/04/2010 12:31

Well done Iwnewmum!! Lovely name too!

Trying4Baby1 · 30/04/2010 12:36

Hiya all, thought I'd sign in as I'm now 40+5. Had a sweep yesterday and unfortunately there's been no signs since. I haven't had any BH or anything before the sweep either. My Bishops score was only 3 so I could be a while yet. I've been feeling okay but now just getting impatient now. Got everything sorted and now just playing the waiting game. Don't want to end up with an induction as that means I have to go to the hospital 25 miles away rather than the local MLU.

supersuz · 30/04/2010 13:50

Congrats lwnewmum and hello to Naomi Jane. 40+9 now. Can't find Bishop's score on my notes but I can't read MW's handwriting. No twinges since Wednesday but I'm less impatient as I can see the end in sight. My sister had two inductions. Think overdue babies just runs in our family.

Do you think Itsallgoingtobefine has had her baby?

Hope you are all bearing up well and enjoy the weekend.

TopSop · 30/04/2010 16:19

40+6 today. Fed up - have tried everything. Want this baby out NOW!

multiplex · 30/04/2010 18:10

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 03/05/2010 18:16

There is hope for you all! Baby Sophie born in water 11 days overdue - no inductions or sweeps required :-)

Jayfer · 03/05/2010 21:19

Congrats on the birth of baby Sophie! Not at all jealous! 3 sweeps and counting...

motherbeyond · 04/05/2010 10:37

congrats to all! im 40+5 and am due for my 3rd sweep tomorrow and in duction on sunday which i really want to avoid. have tried all the usual tricks and nothing.
multiplex...just a tip..don't tire yourself out..you'll need all that energy for the labour!!

i did a long walk on sunday and was fecking knackered, then panicked that would be too tired to push!

TootaLaFruit · 04/05/2010 14:35

40+5 today too - 2nd sweep booked for tmrw. Hoping and praying this will kick things off......... seeing the birth announcements of girls on this board really helps me to see that this baby will come eventually. It is a mediacl impossibility to be pregnant forever, must keep reminding myself of that .

Sending labour vibes to everyone still waiting.
