Come and take my mind off it!

Suggest something indulgent we can do to distract ourselves.

Think that is one of the signs. It says so in The Pregnanacy Book that midwife hgave me. I had show this morning so am getting properly ready now - lined up some babysitters, had a nice lunch out with DS. Jut a waiting game now. Hope the pains progress into contractions for you.

thedollshouse · 15/04/2010 18:36

Hi can I sign in please? I'm also from the April thread and 41+4 today, although it feels like I have been pregnant my whole life.

I'm booked in for a c-section on 23rd April but hoping I will go into labour before then. I had a previous section as ds was breech and don't want to go down the induction route as I feel it would probably result in an emcs anyway.

The consultant was going to give me a sweep last Monday but I was unprepared for it and was shaking so much that she had to stop, she did say that my cervix was soft which I think is a good sign. I was thinking of asking the midwife if I could book an appointment for a sweep on Monday but I am starting to get a bit scared now. Do they really hurt? Are they really likely to bring on labour? Not really sure what to do.

needclarityplease · 15/04/2010 19:13

Count me in! 40+1 today and as fed up as the rest of you. Hurry up bubba) Have looked and felt ready to deliver since 36 wks, getting funny glances/comments when out and about at the size of my bump, feel like saying 'Yes I look ridiculous but I'm having a 9lb+ baby and carry big as I have a short torso!!' (rant over - lol)

Bondwife · 15/04/2010 19:26

I'm 40+5 today with no sign of this child ever arriving DH thinks I'm doing it just to annoy him now

thedollshouse · 15/04/2010 19:27

I'm not 41+4 i'm actually 40+4. I hope I deliver before 41+4!

well done helenwombat.
dolls house - i did not find sweep painful, but some people do. I;ve had 2 now, hope to have another today. Ho hum more waiting.

thedollshouse · 17/04/2010 11:15

Thanks katgod. I'm in two minds about the sweep now as I discovered yesterday that I have thrush and I'm not really keen to have any more rummaging going on down there. I also just read that a sweep could cause your waters to break and once that happens the clock will start ticking for me as I have had a previous c-section. Starting to think maybe I should just let nature take its course.

katgod · 17/04/2010 16:23

I know what you mean - i was all gung ho to be induced this weekend last week IYSWIM, but noiw I am thinking maybe best wait a bit longer. DH thinks that is best option. Had 3 sweeps now, midwife back again tomorrow.maybe I will feel more relaxed once school holidays over - at least I can properly sit and relax when everyone is at school!

mrscardoso · 17/04/2010 17:54

I'm still here! 41+3 today! Had a sweep this morning, finally got a bit of a "show" about 3 hours ago. Midwife says I'm already 2-3cm dilated and will have the baby soon. I don't know if I can celebrate it yet. From tomorrow my homebirth plans are dead and I'll have to go to hospital to have the baby anyway. Very confused. Just hoping this period-like pains turn into regular contractions ASAP...

mum2phoebs · 17/04/2010 20:00

I'm 40+3 today!! My DD1 was born 9 days early and I have measured 3 weeks ahead all through this pregnancy so was adamant I'd be early so now feel very overdue!!

Fed up of people asking if I've had the baby yet - I will tell you when I have!!!

Keep thinking I'm in early labour as having bad period-like pains regularly and lots of tightening.

Booked in for a sweep Weds if nothing happens before then!

My husband has just gone out to get a curry so fingers crossed it has the desired effect! But wil most probably just be up all night with heartburn instead!

katgod · 18/04/2010 10:58

Still here. 41+1. just had 4th sweep, no change since last time. Cervix is posterior -not quite sure what that means, but they would not artificially break waters because it would be too uncomfy. So if I were induced it would be a pessary.
I've been given a form so I can go and have a scan in the week if I want to. DD was born at 41+1 so am hopeful re today, altho DS was at 39+4 so I was hopeful then too. Going to buy another pineapple today.....
c'mon babies

mum2phoebs · 18/04/2010 11:06

Well the curry did exactly what I thought! nothing apart from keep me up all night with heartburn!!

fairfield09 · 18/04/2010 12:05

can i join too please?
41+1 today with first baby and soooo grumpy/swollen/immobile/uncomfortable etc. and eating far too much chocolate.

Midwife did an exam last week and told me she couldn't sweep as my cervix was 'unfavourable' - oh the shame. Since then i think i have had a bit of a show - does that mean that my cervix is becoming favourable (sounds like the shipping forecast)? Midwife is going to try for another sweep tomorrow.

lwnewmum · 19/04/2010 14:45

40+3 today and bored bored bored. I'm into my fifth week of maternity leave, have done all the jobs I need to do and really am struggling to occupy myself now! First sweep didn't do anything. didn'trealis I could be so grumpy!!

mum2phoebs · 19/04/2010 15:58

I too am very grumpy, fed up, tearful! Theres plenty of jobs I could be getting done but get worn out so quick...just emptying the dishwasher is killing me!

I'm 40+5 today keep thinking its happening had loads of tightening, back ache etc seems to get regular then stops!!

Sweep Weds so we'll see if does anything...

I'm also into 5th week of maternity and just keep thinking what a waste not that I'd have been any use at work!

lwnewmum · 19/04/2010 16:57

Haha yes...every night I am convinced it's starting, like you say with tightening, back ache etc, then I wake up the next morning and everything's quiet again!!

Jennysbean · 20/04/2010 08:41

41 + 3 today and just want to cry!! I dont understand!!!
Like you Lwnewmum I keep having contractions and thinking thsi is it at night then waking up every morning still intact!
I am booked for induction on Friday ( 13 days over!) so I know it cant go any longer than that, not the way I wanted this to happen but hey!

mum2phoebs · 20/04/2010 14:25

Now 40+6, had pains all night and they have continued through today. Was really sick this morning and couldn't get off the loo - all signs the baby should be well on its way...but still think I will end up going for my sweep tomorrow morning........:0(

Toady · 20/04/2010 15:57

Hello all well due date by scan was the 17th April but my date is the 27th April, whichever it is I wish he would hurry up. He keeps engaging (which hurts like hell) and then popping back up again.

Am considering having a sweep next Tuesday but really want to find out how 'favourable' my cervix is before I decide but hopefully will have gone into labour by then.

Also suffering from horrible heartburn this time round, moan moan moan and just the general feeling of iniment explosion, oh and also my shins are all puffy and wreck when the kids decide they have to climb up them.

katgod · 20/04/2010 16:10

Still here, 41+3. Had yet another sweep today, still no change.am officially booked in to be inducded on Friday. Curry last night only caused worse heartburn. Midwife is bemused by lasck of progress. Had scan on monday that showed all well, but i don't want to go over 42 weeks. Good luck all, maybe tonight is the night?

mum2phoebs · 21/04/2010 13:52

Had a sweep this morning, midwife seemed very positive about it all said she could feel babies head, my waters were fit to burst and my cervix was soft. She said she managed to perform a really good sweep and wouldn't be suprised if I go into labour tonight.

She said to come home, rest for a couple of hours, have sex tonight and try and keep the sperm inside for as long as possible - told DH to hurry home tonight so we can get a move on!

The sweep itself didn't hurt, I did relax alot as want this over with, but can imagine if you tensed up then it would hurt.

I just felt a bit queasy when I got back home and threw up!

Anyway keeping my fingers crossed it all happens tonight!

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 21/04/2010 17:12

Can I sign in too? Currently 40+4 and its my first. Am stupidly stressing about the fact that my mother is travelling up from wales on sunday to see the baby and if its not here I'm going to feel really guilty.

Having these weird am I really pregnant thoughts again. I am massive and baby is active but I have not had a single sign that baby wants out

Virtual hugs please...

lwnewmum · 21/04/2010 17:52

mum2phoebes: sounds promising, good luck! Is it really weird that I'm a bit jealous??!!

Itsallgoingtobefine: I'm 40+5, first baby, very active (baby, not really me...)and no sign of anything happening. I'll race you

Oh, and a virtual hug sent you way too

mum2phoebs · 21/04/2010 19:10

Iwnewmum - don't get too jealous everything that was happening a few hours ago has calmed down!!!

Tried for the sex as soon as DH got home, but all went pearshaped as too much pressure!! Try again in a bit and hope it starts everything off again!
