Hello folks,

40+12 today. Third pregnancy but first baby. We don’t know the gender. Five years in the making with iui, icsi, ivf and finally donated eggs and sperm. Looooong story.

Was all set for home birth despite being 41 and having GD but my very comfy baby is not interested in being evicted.

I was ok waiting- it’s been an easy pregnancy but we just don’t want to put baby at any risk. So here we are. Told to come in at 8am. 11am tried a sweep but I am sealed like an Egyptian tomb. Just back from curry and walk and waiting for pessary. Join me for the fun!??!

What a journey! Excited to join you at this point. You can do this- keep moving is my advice.

Angliski · 16/01/2020 14:51

I am being a bit lazy. Maybe I should ask them if we can go for a cruise round the hospital.

Following! So excited for you, currently 39+2, (not so) patiently waiting

SproutMuncher · 16/01/2020 15:07

Signing in to follow!

So happy for you that you’re soon to meet your baby after such a hard journey! Good luck with the induction! Is it a pessary then wait 24 hours to see if they can break your waters situation?

ofwarren · 16/01/2020 15:08

Aww lovely! So excited for you!

Angliski · 16/01/2020 15:16

@SproutMuncher yes that’s the plan. Sweep was no go so we will try to loosen cervix with pessary. Tbh as long as long as I am in hospital and can feel baby move and be monitored I am happy to wait for spontaneous labour- and we will make a secret getaway to home birthing it happens before they get to me!!!

Tried reflexology last night- the baby went wild but no cigar!!

Aww best of luck! I'm supposed to be being induced tomorrow too Halo will be following your thread very closely!

I've also been told to phone at 8am, did they tell you to come in straight away?

MsChatterbox · 16/01/2020 17:12

Following, best of luck 🥰. I'm pregnant with my second.. Only 17 weeks so a long way till I'm at this stage!!

SproutMuncher · 16/01/2020 17:13

Come on then OP, is the pessary in? Grin

Brianna83 · 16/01/2020 17:41

Oooh following with interest, my own induction is booked for the 31st of this month!

Sorry to hear that you had such a hard journey to get here OP but so excited for you now!!

Where are you up to? What's happening?

The "Egyptian tomb" comment made me laugh!

Angliski · 16/01/2020 17:52

@SproutMuncher and all I am STILL waiting! Basically the labour ward is full here at Brighton and they are deferring people to Hayward’s Heath. So those of us who aren’t urgent fall down the list.

I have sent husband home to feed cat and stuff as they have no idea when anyone will see me but they don’t want me to leave either because I will lose my slot! I have books, snacks, laptop, and all my home birth paraphernalia including affirmations, spritzer, birthing stool etc etc etc!

Sorry hopefully updates will get more exciting! I do have sea view though!

@CloudyVanilla yes they said be in for 8am but I guess they can’t predict when they will have a run of urgent cases/ births. I can feel
Baby move so I am feeling pretty safe here and to be honest it is probably quieter and more relaxed down in ante natal than upstairs. Will keep you posted!!!

Update - they have taken my bloood pressure! Woo hoo! But it is high - every single reading of my entire pregnancy was about 120 over 60. Ten hours here and I am 140/120?!!!??? What does this tell me about hospitals? Or is it a good thing I am here as I am suddenly pulsing like a panic stricken yappy dog? Tbc.

Progress at last! Have you got a comfy bed? What snacks do you have?

My induction went really quickly and I didn’t get to read the books I had taken or eat the snacks I was looking forward to.

I’m quite jealous of you actually Grin

Preggers86 · 16/01/2020 18:35

Good luck with the pessery mine fell out 3 times within the 24 hours. And then still didn't do much. My body just didn't take to it. Grin

Angliski · 16/01/2020 18:50

@SproutMuncher
I have bbq roasted corn kernels , an avocado And hummus sandwich, some
Sharon fruit, plain yoghurt and some grilled pork sausages. Also coconut water.

@Preggers86 yeah no idea what body will make of it.

News!! I have a room upstairs in an hour when the change of staff takes place. Will get pessary tonight.

SproutMuncher · 16/01/2020 19:15

Those snacks all sound very healthy! I had a Fruit pastilles and a packet of Jaffa cakes! Great news about the pessary.

Have you thought about pain relief if you end up needing the drip? I know you wanted a home birth so does that mean you prefer to avoid an epidural etc?

doodlejump1980 · 16/01/2020 19:20

Good luck!

shutupsteph · 16/01/2020 19:22

My snack bag is packed with crisps, jaffa cakes and a bottle of lucozade 🙈 I am planning on taking a bunch of bananas, for my health 😋

Icypop · 16/01/2020 19:25

Good luck!

Needadviceplz · 16/01/2020 19:33
