Hello folks,

40+12 today. Third pregnancy but first baby. We don’t know the gender. Five years in the making with iui, icsi, ivf and finally donated eggs and sperm. Looooong story.

Was all set for home birth despite being 41 and having GD but my very comfy baby is not interested in being evicted.

I was ok waiting- it’s been an easy pregnancy but we just don’t want to put baby at any risk. So here we are. Told to come in at 8am. 11am tried a sweep but I am sealed like an Egyptian tomb. Just back from curry and walk and waiting for pessary. Join me for the fun!??!

Mild period pains are a very good sign, that’s exactly how my labour started.

I then lost my plug and they ramped up dramatically. Good luck op! Hopefully you’re having newborn snuggles today.

Angliski · 17/01/2020 09:28

Thanks @Spam88 that’s encouraging!

Oh hope it picks up for you soon OP, glad you are getting some rest and food :). Have you got a birthing ball on your ward? I love those

I’m waiting for my first prostin now too! Getting a little nervous as I’m here on my own until 1pm

SproutMuncher · 17/01/2020 09:56

Did it turn out to be your waters overnight OP? The pessary gave me “period pain” and back pain too which turned out to be early contractions - fingers crossed!

nocluewhattodoo · 17/01/2020 10:00

Good luck OP, I hope your new arrival is snuggling in your arms asap Flowers

Blackbear19 · 17/01/2020 10:04

Pessary does give horrible 'period' pain. My friend and I have very similar tales of pessary giving horrible period / back pain and not realising how far on we actually were. Ok both were 2nd babies but both babies took us by surprise!

Angliski · 17/01/2020 10:40

Good luck @CloudyVanilla. Nothing seems to happen very fast so hopefully you will have a birth companion for the start of the show! X

So lovely, you both look so happy xxx

20viona · 17/01/2020 13:57

How exciting! Have your waters gone? Once they broke my waters my daughter was here 2 hours later as I went from 3-10cm in an hour! I walked loads round the hospital grounds so keep active!

Brianna83 · 17/01/2020 14:14

What a fabulous photo! You'll look back on that one with fond memories I'm sure Smile

Angliski · 17/01/2020 14:49

Contractions really regular now but no idea if they are having any effect on the tomb right cervix! We have set up the room and my doula is here!

I loved that view ! It really looks like the room I gave birth in

ronniemipperton · 17/01/2020 15:09

Loving this thread. I’m being induced in just under 2 weeks (assuming she doesn’t turn up beforehand) so watching closely. Good luck!

Angliski · 17/01/2020 16:51

Pains contractions cramps continue and are ramping up and regular.
Hope they will show some dilation later today.
Sent hubby and bestie out for a walk so I can get some rest and solo time

What lovely photos op. Best of luck, I was induced at 38 weeks and it was a long couple of days but totally worth it :)
