Hello folks,

40+12 today. Third pregnancy but first baby. We don’t know the gender. Five years in the making with iui, icsi, ivf and finally donated eggs and sperm. Looooong story.

Was all set for home birth despite being 41 and having GD but my very comfy baby is not interested in being evicted.

I was ok waiting- it’s been an easy pregnancy but we just don’t want to put baby at any risk. So here we are. Told to come in at 8am. 11am tried a sweep but I am sealed like an Egyptian tomb. Just back from curry and walk and waiting for pessary. Join me for the fun!??!

Ps @shutupsteph ‘for my health’ lol
@Hollywhiskey yes I have let go of home birth now and it’s fine. It’s nice here and I won’t have to tidy up after! My doula can come and do the tea lights and stuff.

@danni0509 it’s a surprise! After the journey and rigidity of ivf it’s nice to have a spontaneous, unknown, exciting and wondrous discovery!

I shall keep you all posted - we are waiting for doc to get round to me to prescribe. I’ve sent hubby off to find a meme a mars bar that i can snaffle after they do my blood sugar.

Just checking in and see no updates. Hoping you're able to get some sleep!

soundsystem · 17/01/2020 03:55

Oh how exciting! Hope you get some rest and things get going in the morning Smile

Angliski · 17/01/2020 04:09

Woke up for a wee. Have a soggy bottom! Pad on now to investigate if this might be waters trickling .

Sounds promising!
I'm in another continent, so awake.
I hope things start moving. Try to get some more sleep before the action really starts :)
Wishing you a safe, speedy delivery.

Good luck Op!

TitsalinaBumSquash · 17/01/2020 08:23

Oh how exciting, I was induced with my fourth (and final!) baby and remember how long and uncomfortable the night was, I'm glad you got some sleep. My waters went when I threw up so I exploded from both ends at once in an attractive and classy way as per my life in general!
I hope baby (girl I think) will be with you by 10pm tonight.

moonsmarshmellow · 17/01/2020 08:44

I think baby girl 7 lb 11 oz at 5pm

Hollywhiskey · 17/01/2020 08:46

Ooh I think OP is in labour now, my bet is a little girl before lunchtime.

raspberrymolakoff · 17/01/2020 08:50

I'm guessing boy 9lbs 5.30pm today. So glad you have a doula coming. This is so much fun and your joy shines through!

Angliski · 17/01/2020 08:52

Hello! Just woken up. Mild period pains but no labour yet. Will see what midwife says this am. Hungry!

Spam88 · 17/01/2020 09:00

Mild period pains are a good start though! Fingers crossed you're good to go after the pessary comes out.

My contractions were pretty painful by the time the pessary came out and really escalated after it was out. Could have cried when I was examined a few hours later and was only 2cm (actually might have cried...). The midwife thought they could probably have a go at breaking my waters though so I was transferred to the labour ward within about half an hour and by the time they got me set up on the monitor over there I was fully dilated and pushing. My DH made it with 20 minutes to spare 😬

It was my second baby so things do happen quicker, but my advice would be don't hold off on asking for pain relief if you need it!

May2311 · 17/01/2020 09:23

Good luck OP!
