Hello folks,

40+12 today. Third pregnancy but first baby. We don’t know the gender. Five years in the making with iui, icsi, ivf and finally donated eggs and sperm. Looooong story.

Was all set for home birth despite being 41 and having GD but my very comfy baby is not interested in being evicted.

I was ok waiting- it’s been an easy pregnancy but we just don’t want to put baby at any risk. So here we are. Told to come in at 8am. 11am tried a sweep but I am sealed like an Egyptian tomb. Just back from curry and walk and waiting for pessary. Join me for the fun!??!

Good luck, ok it was a second baby but i had pessary in evening 9ish, again in the morning 9ish and baby was in my arms at 1pm.

Geneshish · 16/01/2020 20:56

Ask for your bishop score. If it's under 6 you've got a really high chance of ending up with a C section. They didnt tell me this and had to have an emcs when they could not see any signs of life from my baby. He is fine but might well not have been. Consider asking for a c section if you have a low score.

Amazing! So excited for you...this was me almost 2 years ago 😁

strawberry2017 · 16/01/2020 21:18

My only advice for induction would be if you go on the drip then have the epidural first.
It's like some form of torture if you don't!
Good luck! X

wellthissucks · 16/01/2020 21:39

Exciting!! I predict period pains overnight and they break your waters in the morning.

Good luck!!

Hollywhiskey · 16/01/2020 21:40

Good luck! I was induced two years ago after planning a home birth. I was so worried about it and it was totally fine, had the pessary, waters went a few hours later and then things really got going and she was out a few hours later. X

Shannith · 16/01/2020 21:40

Good luck! I waited for my pessary for 12 hours as no doctors available. 10 mins later, with no warning at all I was whipped in for an emcs!

Hope you have a slightly less dramatic delivery.

Excited for you.

Dinosaursdontgrowontrees · 16/01/2020 21:44

Good luck op! My second was born 40 mins after the Pessary was put in so you never know you might still have you baby today!!

AgnesNaismith · 16/01/2020 21:49

Good luck OP Flowers similar to poster above, it was 4 hours after pessary I gave birth. Looks like a lovely hospital!

Angliski · 16/01/2020 21:51

Cor what an exciting variety of stories! Sweepstake welcome! I’ve done the monitoring and was definitely having some modest contractions there. My blood pressure is suddenly very high so we are looking into issues there.

@Geneshish yes my bishop two days ago was only 4 so I know there is a risk and we may ask for elective Caesarian if pessary repeatedly fail. I am hopeful though. I think any knows it’s days in a quiet studio apartment are numbered and it’s time to face the music!

@palomapear aha we do as we don’t know the sex - but you will have to wait for the surprise!! Heheee
