Hi all. I am 38 plus 5 days pregnant and just wondering if there is any MN out there getting a little impatient with all this waiting. I am getting a lot of sharp pains and some back ache but nothing that really indicates that I will be going into labour any day soon. Anyone else feeling the same??? My EDD is 26th August - the day after my birthday so am looking forward to a really speacial birthday present Smile

Evening all!

Still no signs but (TMI ALERT) I had really bad upset tummy this morning and mentioned it to the midwife at my appt, she said things could be imminent but on the other hand it could be a bug. That was helpful! I don't feel ill in any other way though so i think it's preg related. yippee!

Have been on a mammoth 5 hour shopping trip around town getting all the last minute bits for baby, labour and my son's for back to school. Done now though!

Last day of work tomorrow - so pleased! Then thursday off pram shopping. I know we've left it late but not had the money up until now.

tweakers I was up at half 3 too so should have thought to log on! DOH! Will meet anyone here tonight should i experience the insomnia again!

Take care girls- hope someone gets their baby soon!

xxxx

Hello again, Back from hospital where my consultant is finally back after 3 weeks leave and she is SO much better than her juniors, she did a strectch an sweep but said my cervix is still unfavourable and tubular Shock after all those symptoms, had a bit of bloody show bout a hr after an some cramps but as she's booked me in for another for next week I'm feeling very unhopeful!? Sad lets se if howling at the moon works.........

tweakers · 24/08/2010 20:26

got a really uncomfortable ache under my bump...still trying not to read into anything!

the moon's beautiful if anyone does get a chance to look tonight

got to go, think some paracetomol is needed

cinnamongreyhound · 24/08/2010 21:18

Hi All,

Have just found this thread have read the first 2 pages and will continue to read but thought I'd join first!

I'm due 31st August and although I'm getting fed up of being pregnant I was hoping to wait until September for school.

People are treating me like I'm mad if I go anywhere now but DS was induced at 40+12 so I am really not expecting an early baby and this one isn't engaged yet either.

Have had some period type pains in lower bump but no other signs. As I didn't go into labour last time am at a bit of a loss of what I'm looking for!

Was told that DS would be born as it was a full moon but it didn't happen so not expecting labour tonight!

Roz14 · 24/08/2010 21:36

Hi cinnamon - glad you found the thread. I am abit like you. I would like the baby to arrive soon but also wouln't mind if it hangs on until September, so that it is not one of the youngest in the year like I was (yeah for me birthday tomorrow)Grin

This is my second baby and up to last week was still not engaged. MW told me that second babies often do not engage until you are in labour.

Hope you have a nice birthday Roz14, not sure I'd want to be in labour on my birthday although it would be a nice present I suppose!

Roz14 · 24/08/2010 21:55

I know what you mean - I have spent plenty of birthdays a little worse for wear after too much wine but never off my head on gas on air. We will have to see - meeting her would be such a wonderful birthday present though Grin

Am on a due Sept thread and asked there but didn't get any responses. Was just wondering what others have been offered in terms of sweeps and induction? Last time I had a date for induction from about 25 weeks but this time they will offer a sweep at 40+7 and 40+10 and then the next day if labour hasn't started they will ring the delivery suite and book me for an induction. As 40+10 will be a Friday can't see an induction being booked before the Monday which seems a good thing to me.

noodleysoup · 24/08/2010 22:11

Hi everyone, congratulations on all the babies that have arrived since i last posted! I had my little boy at 3.55am on 21st aug, the day i was due to be induced. Obviously the threat of induction is the best thing for bringing on labour!

It all happened a lot quicker than I expected, started noticing cramps about 10pm friday night which quickly turned into pretty full on contractions. I was at the birthing centre by about midnight and in the birthing pool by 1am.

Although the birth was very straight forward i had a few problems afterwards so had to stay in overnight. We are all back at home now though attempting to adjust to life with our LO.

I have been feeling a bit overwhelmed today and this is the first chance i have had to get on MN but instantly feel 100 times better reading about all the other mums-2-be and new mummies out there.

love + best wishes to everyone awaiting their august arrivals xx

marzipananimal · 24/08/2010 22:20

congratulations noodley :) :)

cinnamon I was offered a sweep today at 40+5 (but declined). She would have booked the induction for 40+12 but on my request she agreed to book it for 40+14. I'll have a sweep at 40+12 though if need be. Really hoping all this isn't necessary though! Does anyone else feel a sense of suspense every night when you go to bed that you could wake up in a few hours having contractions?

tweakers · 24/08/2010 22:37

wahey! well done noodley!!! our second baby!!!!! congratulations!

and welcome cinnamon

don't get your hopes for me girls... crampiness all gone again But hey, its not the 10th of sept yet anyhow Wink

doesn't look like Pea'll be here under a full moon. perhaps a good howl would help Grin

marzipan i keep expecting to wake up in a wet patch Grin

hi to everyone..probably see you in the early hours!

Roz14 · 24/08/2010 22:48

Congartulations Noodley - that is fantastic news. Baby number 2 can be added to the list at last. It may also kick start some of the other eagerly awaited arrivals Grin

Mourning my poor cervix, why oh why can't you be favourable?? Angry

Roz14 · 25/08/2010 00:44

Thanks Cake - oh yes, just looked at the time - yeah birthday celebrations for me Grin.

Im just getting ready to call it a night and try and get some sleep. I shall see how I get on but may be back on MN in the next few hours.

I have got and try and get some rest for all that partying I am planning to do tomorrow - Not Wink. Me and DS are on our own until tea time so will open my cards and presents together, bake myself a cake or some buns with my DS, then go out for a family meal when DH, mum, brothers etc come home from work. That is if my DC doesn't decide to make an appearance tomorrow (I mean today).

Happy midnight Mumsnetting Cakes Smile

EmmaRoyd · 25/08/2010 01:39

Due tomorrow. Having dull period pains but been having them on and off for two weeks now. I was induced with my first so have no idea what it feels like to go into labour naturally.

EmmaRoyd · 25/08/2010 01:45

Happy Birthday Roz :)

DancingOnMyBladder · 25/08/2010 05:44

Happy Birthday Roz!

Hope you get through your birthday celebrations without interuption. Then you can have a lovely nights sleep tonight and have your baby tomorrow..... does that sound like a plan?

As you can tell, i'm up at the crack of dawn today.... last day of work though so i'll be clock watching till 6pm! WooHoo!

Fingers crossed no-one else is on here because you are off having a baby.

xxxxxxxxx

DancingOnMyBladder · 25/08/2010 05:48

Oh missed a post......

CONGRATULATIONS to Noodley and family

Another baby here! Grin

WelcometotheJungle · 25/08/2010 06:36

Hey tweakers, clove and others, thanks again for the welcome.

'Jungle' is good by the way. Thanks for your tips on the arnica tablets, will look into it.

I suppose the breathing thing is to delay pushing and prevent tearing?

I've hears that a week either side of due date is totally normal.

P.s I love your list tweakers. Can't wait for my smiley!

WelcometotheJungle · 25/08/2010 07:17

NoodleySoup - many congratulations on your new bub. My DS was 10 days over and he arrived naturally on the morning of planned induction too.

Roz - Happy Birthday.

Inzidoodle - My DD(7) is a bit sad too, she wrote a letter (that I requested about being 7) and in it she wrote 'Now listen here, my mum's bregnet so there's not much fun around here'.Sad. I have been trying. Shall be over soon!

Lovesaruby - I am well impressed at your cleaning burst of energy, well done.

tweakers - lol at 'crawling around on the floor picking up toys'. My DS (4yo) was 10 days overdue and at 8 days over I brought on (false start) early labour from mopping the floor. Hospital said 'yes your in labour', but it stopped and didn't resume for two days. We are close in due dates so if I go over 10 days again... well.. my goodness sept seems sooooo far away!

Hi Cinnamon.

CakeandFineWine - I hope your cervix starts behaving itself!

tweakers · 25/08/2010 08:02

another bad night here..because of DS? no, not really. Because of Pea? no, not really. Because of DH?yup! he was dreaming that i was in labour and kept checking I was ok Hmm

with all these babies and a couple more newbies, I'd better get the list updated! Back soon Smile

oh and I'll catch up on all of your news later too!

WelcometotheJungle · 25/08/2010 08:22

Aww what a nice DH (if somewhat annoying!), sounds like he'll make a good birth partner.
